R ATS A Multilingual Culture-Eco Projekt Youth in Action 10 th 17 th of August 2010
RATS A multilingual culture-eco project The exchange included 50 young people in the age of 16-25 and 11 groupleaders from five European countries; Sweden, England, Latvia, Lithuania and Bulgaria. The venue was a scout camp; Kopparbo in Dalarna about 200 km north of Stockholm in Sweden, during the period 10th 17th of August 2010. The pre-meeting was held in Stockholm and Kopparbo in June 7th 9th. The aim of the project was to make the young people aware of being a European citizen of today, in a Global world with increasing climate problems. The youths worked with these issues in relevant workshops. The methods was drama, music, dance, value exercises, social media skills as well as discussions about the climat and the Global environment. The inspiration was the story The Pied Piper of Hamelin, transformed to the modern Global climate context. The result became a musical, presented in Stockholm at Sergels Torg and Hammarby Sjöstad at the end of the exchange. Trough the workshops the participating youths received a non-formal knowledge about their different cultures. Som of the partners have been working together in other previous projects funded of EU; Sokrates 2.1 On the Edge and Youth in Action.
The first meeting One of the first days at Kopparbo, we went to the meadow where we create different things without using words. We had to look each other in the eyes, act and understand without words and it made us laugh together. That was one of the first things that made me and a lot of other people feel more comfortable with each other.
Uppdraget! The commission! To create a show based on the story The Pied Piper, from an environmental perspective with people from five different countries and their theatre teachers, during four days and giving two performances later on, at Sergels Torg and i Hammarby Sjöstad? This was great! The wasps brought us together Something I think everyone relates to this adventure is probably the terrible wasps. They were all around. The fear brought us closer together and it was something to talk about during the first meals.
Passion for the art We used our body language and our motivation to get to know each other and to work together. It promote our communication. Our play was very successful, mostly because of the passion everyone felt for the art.
