Systemutveckling Historiskt grundad introduktion

Karaktäristik och kritik Program for computers and instructions for system users are in principle equivalent. Both types of documents imply a complete, unambiguous and detailed description of a part of the total system. Together they describe the complete system. (Brandinger, 1976 p.257 my translation) The system theoretical tradition [as defined by Bansler] subsumes quantitativelyoriented engineering approaches to design. They are typically based on a view of the workplace as a unitary machine comprised of functional components. Humans are classed as just another type of component, and they (along with the rest of the subsuming system) are considered to be be analysable in an objective fashion by external experts (analyst, designer etc.) (Whitaker, 1991 p.13)
Argument för PD There are four principle arguments for the use of such an approach {participative} when new computer systems are being designed. These are, first, an argument based on values which states that people have a moral right to control their own destinies and that this applies as much in the work situation as elsewhere.... The second is an expediency argument and states that activities are ultimately controlled by those who perform them, and that people who do not have a say in decisions may decide to repeal the decisions of others as soon as they leave the scene. The third relates to the location of knowledge and states that the experts on operational factors such as task design are the people who do the jobs. The fourth argument is that involvement acts as a motivator and will lead to more productivity and efficiency. (Mumford, 1979)
Förflackningens kvalitetsfilosofi The idea of professional expertise involves the competence to evaluate the quality of a system irrespective of what the customers have to say. While their expectations on the system naturally plays an important role in the design, it is the responsibility of the professional systems developer to adjust those expectations to considerations that go beyond the competence that can be demanded of the customer.... the systems developer is responsible for the future consequences of the use of that technology... This is a major responsibility and some of it may be shared with the customers, but to rid oneself of all of it by a policy of only giving the customers what they say they want is to betray your professional standards. Dahlbom & Mathiassen, Computers in Context s. 71
En professionell kvalitetssyn Systemutvecklare utan egen kvalitetssyn omkring 1990 händer något 1. Etik för systemutvecklare 2. Estetik för systemutvecklare 3. Dahlbom, Mathiassen 4. ISO9000
