Sponsorship report ICRI International Child Resource Institute, Ghana November 2013 Prepared for Tolvskillingshjälpen 1
Narrative report A great partnership was formed in September of 2013; when ICRI Ghana received a sponsorship package from Tolvskillingshjälpen to support the NGO s acquiring of a water tank, a standby generator and educational materials. The foundation agreed to donate a total of $2965 ($1=GH 2 = GH 5930) for ICRI to purchase the stated items. Unfortunately, the expected budget fell short the actuals due to an unexpected cost. During the time the proposal was prepared, we thought that we would be able to use an existing water tank stand within the compound. When the water tank was delivered though, we realized that the existing stand had been constructed for a smaller tank wherefore it was not safe to use the existing stand for the new tank, and we were consequently advised to build a new one. The construction work for the stand and a water wall for the children arrived at the sum of GH 2,200 ($1,100). To ensure that the children have access to more educational materials despite of this unexpected expenditure, we did fundraising among the parents to be able to purchase some more of the planned items. Ever since we took delivery of the items, especially the generator and the water tank, we run our programs more smoothly at the office, which has improved the organization s prospects of implementing successful programs. Administrative work as well as the comfort of children and staff at the early childhood education center has been facilitated since we don t suffer the interruptions of power outages anymore. General sanitation at the center as well as personal hygiene of the children in the school has improved since we now have good quantity of water at all times. ICRI deeply appreciates the generosity of Tolvskillingshjälpen, and sincerely hopes that this association will be maintained and that Tolvskillingshjälpen will continue to support ICRI Ghana in its future endeavors.
