Improvement of fortran programming skill, gain some knowledge from several phenomenon, improvement in writing scientific report Lära sig programmering. Bra att man fick en kod att utgå ifrån. That it was like a sum-up course of many phenomena discussed in previous course which gave a wider picture of large-scale circulation. learning the theory Det bästa var att få se hur en relativt simpel kod (baserad på enkla ekvationer) vara kraftfull, att kunna modellera verkliga cirkulationsföreteelser. Djupare förståelse för SWE genom visualisering/modellering The combination of learning theory and making it 'real' in modeling. That it so closely follows on the Numerical methods class. 2. I wish that the theory which will be used in the laboratory can be explained much deeper Väldigt intensiv kurs, vilket inte underlättar inlärning. Skulle vara bra om en fick lite andrum. Att programmera, skriva rapport och göra presentation sista veckan var inte optimalt. Speciellt inte för dom som skulle presentera gyre-labbarna. Mer information om presentation på förhand skulle ha varit bra. Would be more fair if all or none would get feedback on the report the would present. It is a gap in some labs between the theory (from lectures and theory) and the knowledge need to analyze the results. more time to go through the right/most correct answers for the labs. The lectures should have more emphasis on the numerics and less on the theory how everything works in the real life. Not enough time to trying to make a proper search on the internet or other sources if there's a new lab every week. Examinationen. Det finns viss problematik kring att labbrapporter betygsätts liksom innan man vet vad syftet med labbrapporten var: vilka koncept man borde gått igenom osv. Här hade laborationsbeskrivningarna kunnat utökas till att inkludera även centrala begrepp. Korta rapport-mallen istället för långa. Same amount of theory but deeper - closer to the numerics. Like, what issues can one expect while examining Kelvin waves, why. How is this solved in more complex models. Though I can understand the need for the time spent on the basics of the theory. 3. Time management is important to keep you focus on the courses and personal life Samarbeta mycket. if you get stuck in coding or analyzing the pictures, ask the others Gör klart koden snabbt, och spara bilderna/resultaten snabbt. Låt dig själv ha god tid till att tänka ut vad resultaten betyder. Börja effektivt från dag 1 Use all lab hours, keep up with the pace of the course. 4. Other comments Other comments Att behöva studera mycket och intensivt är inte ekvivalent med att lära sig mycket. Inlärning främjas av lite andrum. Very good help from Sara figuring out the intricacies when looking deeper in the analysis.
