Living diversity: working and learning collaboratively in a cross-cultural and cross-contextual environment - experience from the Open Networked Learning course https://opennetworkedlearning.wordpress.com/ Swednet/ITHU 25 maj 201 Maria Kvarnström och Lars Uhlin (Karolinska institutet), Lotta Åbjörnsson (Lunds universitet), Alastair Creelman (Linnéuniversitetet)

For me personally there were many first in this course. First time blogging, first time tweeting but also the collaborative work. I ve never participated in a course with this much collaborative work. I loved it and learned so much in the webinars together with my group One of the strongest points of this course is placing participants in PBL groups, which allows participants to apply what's been covered in the course in an immediate manner Collaboration We were pushed beyond our comfort zones to embrace virtual reality and learn to exist within it. It has inspired me to take learning, for my students into the blended learning space. Collaborative learning was a particularly significant topic because it enabled us to reflect upon our interactions with one another, as well as whether or not we were making a significant contribution to the learning of the entire group I have learned a lot about how and why to collaborate "online" that the sum of what we achieved was greater than what we could have done individually. We all had different angles on this topic that became strength in our PBL group Being brave enough to do it! It is a challenge, but manageable and clearly an opportunity to change education as such Collaboration is more than group work.
Lovely to experience how we came from different backgrounds but in many instances we were from the same culture of learning It s been really fun to connect with teachers from all over the world. We deal with the same problems when it comes to getting our students engaged and motivated Collaboration and diversity I was always surprised by the many different perspectives that could be used to discuss a topic, mainly due to having diverse backgrounds Participants from different races, ethnicities, genders, professions could collaborate as a team on one platform and learn from and with each other To solve a problem can be done in many ways and by having "my way" reflected in other people's views enhance my capabilities to actually add to a solution far more thought through than if I only sat down with my "safe" network The diversity of views was brilliant! Very interesting to see different perspectives, both internationally and from teachers working on different levels
I feel both enriched and impoverished by this course - enriched because I've been exposed to such rich and big topics such as digital learning and open educational resources, but also impoverished because I've only dipped my toes into these topics - I feel that there's so much more in these topics that I'm only just getting to know better, and now the course has ended, boo! Openness The course opened my eyes to seeing openness in a different light than before, and it showed in a very concrete manner the benefits of being open and sharing in a wide range of ways Openness and sharing was a big 'aha' moment for me. I am now comfortable with OERS to such an extent that I am using g them frequently since completing the course and suggesting that my students do the same
Five learning areas for sustainable development 1. Understand change, complexity and transitions 2. Deal with values, ethical and moral dilemmas 3. Build agency and transformative capacity 4. Utilize diversity, uncertainty and dissonance 5. Cross-boundaries, think holistically/relationally (Arjen Wals)
Diskussion Alla har grupparbetat, få har någonsin kollaborerat In addition to collaborating face-to-face with colleagues across a conference table, 21st century workers increasingly accomplish tasks through mediated interactions with peers halfway across the world whom they may never meet faceto-face. Comparing frameworks for 21st century skills. In J.Bellanca & R. Brandt (Eds.), 21st century skills: Rethinking how students learn(pp. 51 76). Bloomington, IN: Solution Tree Press.) https://opennetworkedlearning.wordpress.com/
