Chamber Orchestra is the ensemble that brings live music indeed the music of life to each and every individual member of the audience. The vast realm that is art music is handled the utmost precision and elegance by its 15 string players. The repertoire consists of baroque and romantic as well as modernist and contemporary music from a wide variety of genres. Listening to is intimate and close, magnificent and dramatically colourful. between worlds In 1917 Arnold Schoenberg composed his Verklärte Nacht (Transfigured Night) to the poem by Richard Dehmel, inspired by his first encounter his future wife. Shortly thereafter, in 1919, Rebecca Clarke became the first woman to win a major composition contest in England. Another 100 years earlier Niels Gade was born in Copenhagen, Denmark. Together music by a contemporary woman composer, award-winning Britta Byström, we walk between the ages and different musical worlds. Rickard Söderberg and the orchestra guide the audience through an abundance of operatic gems, written by well-known masters and lesser know composers of the genre. The audience are invited to participate, using the hats and masks they themselves have crafted prior to the concert. The result will be our very own Opera! Photo: Andreas Pålsson hans pålsson The musicianship and thoughts about music as presented by Hans Pålsson in the long-running television series Dead maestros society brought music from all over the world directly in to our living rooms. In this concert we hear him perform the rarely played The Four Temperaments by Hindemith. The evening starts another maestro, namely Johann Sebastian Bach, lending his temperament to our string players. chamber music on the move In celebration of the 150th anniversary of Smålands Museum, explore the museum's many rooms filling them music. The audience is invited to stroll around the museum and experience the orchestra in various small settings. The event coincides the annual formal gathering of the Smålands Akademi, and academy members and this year's laureates will be attending the concerts. Photo: Börje Dahrén lisa långbacka Smålands Musikarkiv is celebrating its 25th anniversary throughout the year, and accordionist Lisa Långbacka has been commissioned to compose a piece of music based on folk tunes from the province of Småland. Lisa was named Accordionist of the Year in 2014, and has forged a career for herself as a proficient improviser oscillating between genres both as a musician and as a composer. handel's messiah Advent is gleaming light! Once again perform what might possibly be the most beloved oratorio ever; Messiah by Handel. This year in collaboration the Eric Ericson Chamber Choir, star conductor Fredrik Malmberg, world class soloists and international wind players. Messiah was composed in 1741 and was premiered at a charity concert in Dublin the following year. The first performance was led by the composer himself from the organ.
