Samförvaltning av interagerande ekosystemtjänster i Helgeås avrinningsområde Cibele Queiroz Stockholm Resilience Centre, Stockholm University - Sub heading Projekt Ledare: Elin Enfors Projekt medlemmar: Lisen Schultz, Albert Norström, Cibele Queiroz, Anna Helgeson Simrishamn, 10 februari 2015

Reasoning It is the interaction between services that is more useful for planners and policy makers, as it highlights trade-offs and synergies among services and across landscapes Most ecosystem services are co-produced by humans and nature. It is therefore useful for planers to consider the all ES production chain (supply, use and demand) to identify drivers of change and direct management measures and policies
Co-production of ecosystem services Example of Forest walks Nature (Natural capital) Society (Human, social and manufactured capital) Supply Natural/biophysical potential Use Depends both on demand, supply and management Demand Management Human practices/policies 6

Approach Assessment of the supply, use and demand of ES in the Helge Å catchment and the Skåne county Use of publically available data (in government and other societal sectors databases) for a rapid assessment of ES Distribution of individual services Bundles analysis of multiple ecosystem services: identifies trade-offs and synergies between services or sets of services

Reflections on the approach Cheap and fast first cut of the distribution of individual services and interactions among services It makes use of publically available data Identifies relationships of interest between services to be further investigated in depth By focusing on bundles of services, it avoids potential negative side-effects of approaches targeted to individual services 21
