3 Figur 3. Citat: "A handful of Mistral class ships in the Baltic and Black Seas would make a big difference. In the conflict in August last year a ship like that would have allowed the Black Sea Fleet to accomplish its mission in 40 minutes, not 26 hours, which is how long it took us, Russian Navy Commander Admiral Vladimir Vysotskiy, recently said, referring to Russia s August 2008 invasion of Georgia. Consequently, the Mistral s passage through the Baltic Sea next week must capture the attention of every NATO ally. The French sale of Mistral class ships to Russia would be a major adverse geopolitical development and a potential alliance buster it must be blown off course. *David J. 4 Omfattande Landstigningsövningar i södra Östersjön av Ryssland och Vitryssland. The Zapad-2009 strategic exercise, launched on September 8 under the command of Nikolai Makarov, chief of the Russian Armed Forces General Staff, and Belarusian Defense Minister Leonid Maltsev, will continue until September 29. The exercise is the final phase of the Russian-Belarusian Union State s military-training program for 2009. http://www.ntv.ru/novosti/176873/ http://www.vesti.ru/doc.html?id=317479 http://en.rian.ru/photolents/20090929/156288079_13.html http://www.varldenidag.se/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=5962&itemid=31 Ryssland och Frankrike: Assault ships och assault helicopters i Saint Petersburg "This day will mark history." These are the words uttered on November 27, 2009 by the Director General and Chief Designer of the Kamov firm, Mr Sergei Viktorovich Mikheyev, at the first landing of the Russian Ka-52 combat helicopter aboard a helicopter carrier. In this case, the ship was the French Navy s Bâtiment de Projection et Commandement (BPC) Mistral. Having barely sailed out of the Neva, in the heart of St. Petersburg, where the Mistral made a four-day visit, the ship made a "cross deck" landing exercise with Russian Navy helicopters. For over an hour, several deck landings were made by a Ka-27 (Helix anti submarine warfare helicopter), a Ka-29 (assault transport helicopter) and the impressive Ka-52, which also simulated a refueling on the flight deck of the Mistral. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/europe/poland/6480227/russia-simulates-nuclearattack-on-poland.html http://www.defense-aerospace.com/cgibin/client/modele.pl?shop=dae&modele=release&prod=110281&cat=3 http://wisemanswisdoms.blogspot.com/2009/11/den-nya-ententen.html http://en.rian.ru/world/20091125/156986249.html http://www.potomacinstitute.org/attachments/463_24saati_mistral_%2011_17_09_send.pdf http://www.svd.se/opinion/brannpunkt/ryskt-maktspel-kan-splittra-eu_3873459.svd http://www.varldenidag.se/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=6026&itemid=30 Omfattande ryskt bomb- och attackflyg längs Norges kust "We see that the Russians have taken up strategic flights again along the coast, out in the Norwegian Sea and over the Atlantic, back to the levels seen during the Cold War," Commander Lars Saunes at Norway's joint operations base in Bodø in northern Norway told NRK. Saunes said there has been much speculation as to why the Russians are flying so actively off Norway and sometimes as far south as the UK. "I haven't had any clear description of what their reasons are," he said. http://www.newsinenglish.no/news/russianflights.html
