Together, I am convinced that we in Uppsala, if we work together and prioritise the work, can become a pioneer in Sweden in LGBTQ issues. It is that ambition I want us all to share. Saga Joakim Karlsson, ordförande RFSL Uppsala
THE Federation Chairperson has the Word (Text in Swedish from the full report) Sandra Ehne, chairperson RFSL Vi gläds åt att vi på det stora hela har partierna med oss.
THE Chapter Chairperson has the Word Saga Joakim Karlsson, chairperson RFSL Uppsala ust as our federation, RFSL Uppsala is a nonpartisan, but highly political organisation. In addition to our advocacy work towards e.g. the municipality and the region, we conduct a variety of activities. Among others, we organise a number of regular social and supportive meetings, arrange Uppsala's annual pride festival WelcomeOUT, hold education and school information, provide asylum counseling to LGBTQ asylum seekers, offer Swedish courses for newly arrived LGBTQ people and are now in the startup phase of Uppsala's LGBTQ psychologist reception. We have a department to be proud of, with activities that are all founded on a mission and political vision; to strengthen the rights of LGBTQ people.
In this mission, I see it as a given to highlight our issues for the election, as well as the opinions on these in our parties. 1 Together with the full report, the summary you are reading now, 2 and the political debate on August the 21st, I hope that we can make it easier for voters in the Uppsala electoral district to LGBTQ vote on all three levels. I also highly recommend to take part of the party leader debate from EuroPride in Stockholm as well as the LGBTQ political debate from Syregården in 4 Almedalen - both available for streaming online. 3 In 2015 Uppsala municipality came in shared 34th place in RFSL s municipality inspection. There are undeniably things left to do before we can compete for the first place. As our federation chairperson mentions, the only ones we do not collaborate with or talk with in our advocacy work is Sverigedemokraterna - they have not supported a single LGBTQ reform the last term, and do not endorse any of our political positions. With all other parties mentioned in this summary, I look forward to continue building a relationship - even after the election. In 2015 Uppsala municipality came in shared 34th place 5 in RFSL s municipality inspection. We hope we have come further since then, but there are undeniably things we have left to do before we can compete for the first place. Both civil society and the municipality are needed in this work, especially together. The same applies, of course, also at a regional level. Together, I am convinced that we in Uppsala, if we work together and prioritise the work, can become a pioneer in Sweden in LGBTQ issues. It is that ambition I want us all to share. We are all part of building the future of both Uppsala and Sweden. The Report This report consist of a summary of RFSL s election report 2018 that is presented (in Swedish) on the website hbtq-rösta.nu. In the full report an explanation is given to the topics that has been chosen to focus on and how the federation have summarised the results. This summarised report is shorter and focuses on the Uppsala electoral district. On the next page we have two graphs that are also presented in the full report: 1. How well the parties' voting in the parliament corresponds with RFSL s positions. 2. The opinions of our parliamentary candidates in important LGBTQ political topics. In this graph we have in this summary also added a separate column where we have summarised the opinion of parliamentary candidates in the 6 Uppsala electoral district in the same topics. On the last page, we give a detailed view of the full report on the opinions of each parliamentary candidate in the Uppsala electoral district in the chosen topics, together with a percent for how well the opinions of the candidate corresponds with RFSL s position. Under the table there is an explanation of the specific topics covered, that are described in detail in the full report. Just as with the full report we have marked the 4 candidates that has a result of over 90% with a bright green color. In the full report there is also 6 candidates with a full 100%, that has been marked with a dark green color. Since no parliamentary candidate from the Uppsala electoral district has reached this result, this color is not shown in the summary. Feministiskt initiativ and Sverigedemokraterna stands out in this part of the report since these parties only have a national parliament list. From Feministiskt initiativ, all respondents answered the survey, and here we summarise the 2 candidates who live in Uppsala County. From Sverigedemokraterna, 9 out of the total number of 60 respondents answered the survey. As none of these 9 reside in Uppsala County, we have chosen not to include the residents in Uppsala County in this summary. 6 Note that several parties from the Uppsala electoral district have not answered the survey, leading to SD, C, and KD not having a separate column for the Uppsala electoral district. Also note that the response rate differs among the parties that has answered, and can not always be presented as a reliable average for the Uppsala electoral district.
