KF1165 Materialens kemi och egenskaper Year 3-9 credits - Mandatory The course aims to provide a broad and fundamental knowledge of materials chemistry covering polymers, fiberbased materials, composites, hybrid materials, optical and electronic materials. 2 important challenges: 1 A holistic perspective on materials 2 Course relevance for future career
Ex: Solve the problem for Vattenfall: How is the material in normal operation, about 15 years? Which mechanical properties is designed for the feature/function? How is the material during a crash (~ 24 h) by high humidity Ionizing radiation High temperature The combination of said parameters?
Curriculum design changes adding several study visits during the course, using authentic cases, adding intended learning outcomes related to skills, adding a written assignment where the students reflected about the study visits with the help of predefined questions.
Student questions for reflection To be completed by 1 or 2 students after a study visit within the course. 1. What is the link to the topic in the course? 2. Give concrete examples of the methods, processes and tools used in the workplace 3. Which industries and professional roles there were represented in the workplace? 4. How does this study visits affect my/our future studies and choice of master's program? Motivate! 5. How does it affect my/our future career plans? Motivate! 6. Was our expectations met?

Result Voices from the students: I. The study visit motivates me to study because you ll get an insight into working life and what you are able to do further ahead, that what we re studying has a purpose and a meaning II. III. IV. I think that the study visit was very good. It was fun to get an insight into a job that has a connection to what I am studying. Think it's good, it's a little more like working life. It feels more relevant to the whole course than the examples in other courses, doesn t feel made up. It is good fun, more practical applications and not just mass theory that you do not know what to do with.

KF1165 Materialens kemi och egenskaper 3 year Obligatorisk kurs Program: Teknisk kemi Kursens syfte är att ge en bred och grundläggande kunskap om materialkemi som omfattar polymerer, fiberbaserade material, kompositer, hybridmaterial, optiska och elektroniska material. Kursen ger fördjupade kunskaper i att skapa, utveckla och analysera materialens struktur och egenskaper och omfattar såväl praktiska som teoretiska moment.
