Ridningen går genom ett betagande landskap och du ges chansen att betrakta och leva det gamla arvet med dess seder och bruk och uppleva regionens mystiska atmosfär. Ni stöter antagligen på djur och fauna unika för regionen, t.ex örnar, gamar och även vargar, som dock inte är farliga för människan. Allt medan Er häst säkert och sakligt tar Er uppför på hänförande. Inkvartering med tältläger och enkla former nära lokalbefolkning och naturen. Vissa dagar ges tillfälle att trava och galopera, andra dagar är det skritt. Alla dagar är det 20 min ca en timmes vandring till fots (hästen i handen). INKVARTERING OCH MÅLTIDER Inkvarteringen på 16 dagars-programmet sker mestadels i tvåmannatält (egen sovsäck), i anläggningens egna gästhus och 3 nätter i dubbelrum inkl frukost på trevligt hotell i Tbilisi. Enkelrumstillägg tillkommer med 40 /natt på hotellen.
HÄSTAR OCH RIDNING Det finns ca 20 otroligt vackra och godhjärtade Tuschines-hästar (lokal bergsras) på anläggningen, som även nybörjare kan känna sig trygga på. Tempot varierar men det är mycket skritt på grund av höjden men självklart bjuds det på några härliga galopper! Ridutrustningen är ryska sadlar och Tushisadlar (träsadlar med en stor, mjuk kudde på). Dessa sadlar testade vi i Kazakhstan och de var synnerligen bekväma. Det krävs att Ni har god kondition då Ni rider ca 6 timmar varje dag med mycket klättring. Max 8 st ryttare i gruppen. Här ges det verkligen tid att reflektera över landskapet, folket, levernet eller bara njuta av att känna hästarnas kraft under sig. Bagaget: Transporteras av packhästar och i sadelväskor, inga fordon kan framföras i dessa områden. Tempot är därför inte högt. Det är upplevelsen som räknas på denna resa! PROGRAM Ett specialprogram för vår testresa med totalt 10 nätter och 6 dagars ridning. Reservation görs för ev nödvändiga ändringar. Ni rider genom fantastisk, varierande och storslagen natur och med många underbara möten med lokalbefolkningen. Day 1 20/09 Departure from Europe. Arrival in Tbilisi Overnight in a guesthouse Day 2 21/09 Day 3 Tbilisi-Kakheti-Laliskhuri Meeting point at 10.30 am at your hotel in Tbilissi. We visit the region of Kakheti with : We start with the visit of Shumta which is composed of 2 places: The first one called old Shuamta gathers 3 churches dating back from the 6-7 th century. The new Shuamta is a church which has been built in the 16 th century. We stop at Telavi, the main city in Kakheti and visit its market, its fortress which belonged to the last king of Georgia, Erekle II. Free time 20-30mn. Then we drive to Tsinandali, the house of Alexandre Chavchavadze who was a prince, a writer, a poet, a translator and a military person. We visit Gremi, a beautiful church built in the 16 th century built by the king Levan of Kakheti. The inner frescoes haven been miraculously saved from the communist period. From the 15 th century to the 17 th, Gremi was the main town of the Kakheti kingdom until the Persian invasion On our way to the guesthouse we visit the beautiful Alaverdi cathedral which had been set up in the 6th c. and re built in the 11th century. This was the highest cathedral during the Soviet Union period. The architecture of the edifice is typical of the region. Then we go to Laliskhuri, a small village located at the foot of the Caucasian Mountains. We have dinner and an overnight in a Tush family guesthouse. Accommodation: Very simple. Loo at the back of the house. Share bathrooms. Double and 4 persons rooms. LALISKHURI-OMALO The path leading to Tusheti had been built after the second world war and carved in the rocks. We drive over the Abano Pass which is at 2926m high.
The pass marks the border between the Tusheti and the Kakheti regions and offers some splendid panorama over them. We reach Omalo, the main village of the Tusheti, in the end of the afternoon. Omalo is located in the heart of the Tusheti National Park at 2000m high. We stay in the summer village of Omalo under the well known defensive towers. Dinner and overnight in a traditional house in Omalo. Very simple accommodation: Loo at the back. No electricity, no running water. Day 4 OMALO-SHENAKO-OMALO After we have been given our horse we start our ride to Shenako. We visit the small church of Shenako renewed by the inhabitants, the sacred places which are forbidden for women (in the age during which they can have children) and some other curiosities. After a lunch we go to Diklo, the last Tush village of the valley. We ride back to Omalo and spend the night in the house. 6 hours ride. Trot/Gallop possibilities. On the whole day, around 1hour on foot. Accommodation: traditional house. Day 5 OMALO-GGA In the contrary of Omalo, only a few families live here. It is a secluded place where you can observe some very old traditions and the Tushis way of life. Gga is reachable only on foot or a horseback and is located at the top of a small summit which offers some spectacular views. We have dinner and overnight in our house (traditional Tush house). Around 5 hours ride. Trot/gallop not possible On the whole day, around 30min on foot. Accommodation : Traditional house.
Day 6 GGA-AT We ride up to the crest which leads to the wildest part of the Tusheti region. For that we take some old shepherds pathway. We enjoy the beautiful panorama on the Tusheti region. We spend the whole day on the roof of the Caucasian range around 3000m. (the highest part is 3200m). We walk down to the valley and we set up our camp by a river (high elevation, 2500m). Day 7 Around 6 hours ride. Trot/gallop not possible. Around 1H00 at least on foot. Accommodation: tents. AT-SAIDUMLO We ride along the river in the first part of the day. Then after the lunch we start the riding up to a pass. The last 100m is on foot. (walking up). Once at the top we walk along some gorges and walk down in the wild valley. We set up the camp near a river. Around 6 hours ride. Trot/gallop not possible. Around 1hour at least on foot Accommodation: tents. Day 8 SAIDUMLO-PIRIKITI We ride down the valley and take a very small pathway leading us the icy area! Today we have to mount and dismount several times. The second part of this valley is in the river. In the end of the afternoon we reach the pirikiti valley and the first inhabited village called Girevi. We ride on to Parsma and set up the camp close by. Around 6 hours on horse Trot/Gallop not possible. Around 1hour on foot. Several times we have mount and dismount. Accommodation: tents.
Day 9 Day 10 PIRIKITI We ride through Checho and Dartlo. We visit Dartlo, (UNESCO world heritage) and ride up the Mirgvella pass. We reach Omalo at the end of the day. The paganism in the Caucasus Region was still present until the middle of the 20 th century. Many altars remains in Tusheti and some of their divinities like Otchpintre (god of nature) or Elia (god of weather) are still honoured. Almost of the Tush people were living there all the year until this period. They started to leave Tusheti after the construction of the road. We spend the night in the traditional Tush house. Around 6 hours ride. Trot/Gallop possibilities. 20mn on foot (-250m). Accommodation: traditional house. OMALO-LALIKHURI-TBILISI Drive back to Kakheti then to Tbilisi. We reach Tbilisi in the end of the day. Last diner in a restaurant Accommodation: guesthouse Day 11 30/09 Departure
Remarks: 1. The luggage will be carried in some precarious conditions (on the roof of the car). We are also not responsible for some damages which can occur. 2. At Laliskhuri, we will give you 2 waterproof bags in which you should arrange your staff. You can leave the rest of your unneeded luggage there. The weigh should also be reasonable. Our horse should carry all the staffs. 3. During the trek we have to be self sufficient as once the Kkakheti region left we can not find any provisions. 4. We are cooking every day, typical Georgian food and tushi specialities. All our food is coming from the local production and is organic. 5. During the trek, long way down should be walked. 6. We will go in a very secluded area and especially the first part of the trek. Some very good physical and mental conditions are required. 7. Mountain experiences are also recommended as some trails could sometimes be difficult. 8. We reserve the right to modify the itinerary if we judge for any reasons that the way is not safe enough. This decision will be taken by the main guide and should not be contradicted or discussed. 9. The horse trek is mainly done at low speed (walking pace).
