3 Dear Märklin and Trix Enthusiasts, Bästa Märklin och Trix-vänner! after years of their absence, we take great pleasure in being able to present special export models once again for our international markets. These export models differ from the standard program in that they are produced and delivered with priority for their respective markets. We therefore cannot say with absolute certainty whether inventory will still be available for general distribution after completion of the sales plans for the targeted countries. It is a strategic goal of our brands to gain more model railroaders for Märklin and Trix in Europe and the USA. Naturally, we cannot offer a complete cross section of all eras for every market. Therefore, we are concentrating on themes and models that are particularly dear to you (and to us) and are realizing these models with prototypical realism. The main program already presents numerous international new items. Among them are for example models of the U.P. Big Boy. Two limited series of the famous American F7 diesel locomotive, each series with 2,000 pieces, are a special feature in this brochure. This time in the colors of the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad and the Kansas City Southern Railroad. Fans of nostalgic American locomotives can still experience these locomotives in real life. Våra exportmodeller skiljer sig från modellerna i vårt standardprogram genom att de i första hand produceras för och levereras till respektive lands marknad. Vi kan därför inte garantera att det efter att respektive land fått sin andel exportmodeller finns några exportmodeller över för resten av världen. Vi har som mål att stärka våra varumärken såväl i Europa som i USA och värva nya Märklinoch Trixentusiaster. Naturligtvis kan vi inte erbjuda ett brett tvärsnitt med modeller från alla olika järnvägsepoker anpassade till alla våra exportmarknader. Därför försöker vi koncentrera oss på vissa teman och modeller som kan tänkas ligga Er (och oss!) närmast hjärtat, och göra dessa modeller så verklighetstrogna som möjligt. Redan i huvudprogrammet presenteras ett flertal internationella nyheter. Till dessa räknas exempelvis vår nya modell av USAamerikas mest berömda ånglok genom tiderna: Big Boy tillhörande U.P. Ett par spektakulära modeller i denna broschyr är modellerna av två berömda amerikanska diesellok typ F7, tillverkade i en begränsad upplaga av exemplar för hela världen. Lokens förebilder är hämtade från järnvägsbolagen Baltimore & Ohio samt Kansas City Southern. Den som är förtjust i gamla USAamerikanska diesellok kan faktiskt söka upp och njuta av dessa lok i fullskala de går faktiskt i daglig trafik än idag! Prototype: Belgian State Railways (SNCB/NMBS) class 96 tank locomotive, one Europ design gondola, a twoaxle low side car, and a Shell tank car, used on the Belgian State Railways (SNCB/NMBS). Model: The locomotive has a digital decoder and a special motor with a flywheel. 3 axles powered. Traction tires. The triple headlights change over with the direction of travel, will work in conventional operation, and can be controlled digitally. The locomotive has many separately applied details. Prototype: Dutch State Railways (NS) bi-level commuter train consisting of a class 1700 electric locomotive with the road number 1711 and the coat-of-arms for Emmen, 1 type DDM2/3-ABv bi-level intermediate car, 1st/2nd class, 2 type DDM2/3-Bv bi-level intermediate cars, 2nd class, 1 type DDM2/3-Bvk bi-level cab control car, 2nd class. Yellow basic paint scheme. The looks as it currently does in real life. Model: The general-purpose locomotive has an mfx digital decoder and extensive sound functions. It also has controlled high-efficiency propulsion. 2 axles powered. Traction tires. The triple headlights and dual red marker lights change over with the direction of travel, will work in conventional operation, and can be controlled digitally. The headlights and marker lights are maintenancefree LEDs. 1 close coupler is included with the train and can be installed at one end of the locomotive in place of the imitation automatic coupler. The bi-level cars have underbodies and skirting specific to the car types. All of the cars can have 7319 current-conducting couplings or 72020/72021 current-conducting couplers as well as 73400/73401 (3 per car) LED interior lights along with the pickup shoe installed on them. The cab control car s engineer s cab has interior details. The cab control car has triple headlights and dual red marker lights that change over with the direction of travel. 10 Netherlands / Nederländerna (ceheu Freight Train Steam Locomotive with a Tender. Prototype: Dutch State Railways (NS) class 4900 (former class 50) freight train steam locomotive, with a coal tender as standard design type 2 2 T26 box-style tender in its original design. With Wagner smoke deflectors, standard engineer s cab, long walkway that is angled at the front to the smoke box, DRG lanterns, and without an inductive magnet. Road number The locomotive looks as it did around at the end of the Forties. Model: The locomotive has an mfx digital decoder and extensive sound functions. It has controlled high efficiency propulsion with a bell-shaped armature and a flywheel, mounted in the boiler. 5 axles powered. Traction tires. The locomotive and the tender are constructed mostly of metal. A 7226 smoke generator can be installed in the locomotive. The dual headlights change over with the direction of travel. They and the smoke generator contact will work in conventional operation and can be controlled digitally. The headlights are maintenance-free, warm white LEDs. There is a close coupling with a guide mechanism between the locomo- tive and tender and it can be adjusted for curves. The front of the locomotive and the back of the tender has a close coupler in an NEM pocket with a guide mechanism. Minimum radius for operation is 360 mm / 14-3/16. They also have prototypically partially open car floors constructed of metal with striking fish belly external side sills. Each flat car comes loaded with 2 each interchangeable truck transport units. Support stands for the interchangeable truck transport units are included separately. Model: The locomotive has an mfx digital decoder and extensive sound functions. It also has controlled highefficiency propulsion. 2 axles powered. Traction tires. The car has factory-installed interior lighting. The headlights are maintenance-free warm white LEDs and the marker lights are maintenance-free red LEDs. 28 USA / USA Loewy s Crocodile. In the 30 s in the middle of the deepest depression, the Pennsylvania Railroad PRR ventured to electrify their main routes in the eastern ed States. This immense project included the repair and reinforcement of railway track, construction of new tunnels with greater clearance, as well as the integration of commuter lines. The first stretch extended from Washington via Baltimore, Wilmington, and Philadelphia to Penn in New York (including the commuter lines under the Hudson River). All that was missing was the suitable locomotive; up to that point the PRR s long distance passenger trains were steam-powered. A multi-year test phase was begun. At the end of the tests a prototype built by General Electric and Baldwin in 1934 with a wheel arrangement was declared the winner. The GG-1 s data was impressive: 6 twin motors (a pair for each axle) put out a total of 3,445 kilowatts / 4,620 horsepower with peaks even exceeding 5,965 kilowatts / 8,000 horsepower. The pilot truck wheel diameter was 1.45 meters / 57 inches, the total weight 208 tons / 460,000 pounds, the length 23 meters / 79 feet 6 inches. The GG-1 reached speeds of 145 km/h / 90 mph. The year before a designer, originally from France, applied for employment at the PRR. Most likely to get rid of him he was assigned to design the trash containers in Penn New York. The result was so impressive that he was invited to make a few suggestions for the design of the GG-1. Raymond Loewy pursued the task with thorough precision. Instead of the coarse, riveted superstructure assemblies of the prototype, he came up with a smoothsurface design. He provided an elegant, dynamic package for the mighty power of this machine. In total the PRR had 4,300 km / 2,677 miles under wire; this was more than 40 percent of the total electrified network of the USA. The PRR ran 3,500 passenger trains daily on its network. The 137 GG-1 locomotives pulled more than 900 trains a day, including the prestigious express trains between New York and Washington. GG-1:ans data är imponerande: 6 tvillingmotorer (1 par för varje drivaxel) med en sammanlagd styrka på kw (4.620 HP), med en kortfristig maxstyrka på 5.965kW (8.000 HP). Drivhjulens diameter var 1,45 m (57 tum), totalvikt 208 t ( pound), längd 23 m (79,5 fot). GG-1 hade en toppfart av 145 km/h (90 miles/h). Ett år tidigare sökte den från frankrike härstammande designern arbete, vilket som helst. I väntan på något bättre så åtog han sig uppdraget att utforma soptunnorna på Penn i New York. Han lyckades över förväntan och man blev så imponerad av den unge formgivaren att man bad honom komma in med ett par förslag till GG-1:ans design. Raymond Loewy gick in för det nya uppdraget med hull och hår. I stället för de vanliga nitade, kantiga karosserna valde han en annan lösning med släta, strömlinjeformade ytor. Han lyckade förpacka lokets enorma styrka i en elegant, dynamisk kaross. Den sammanhållna karossen gav ett helgjutet intryck och var harmoniskt och strömlinjeformat avrundad. En djupt mörkgrön lackering med en dekor bestående av fem mot lokets ändar sammanlöpande guldrändergav fulländade lokets elegans. Den 10 februari 1935 tog PRR upp trafiken på den elektrifierade sträckan mellan Washington och New York. Tack vare sin kraftresurser kunde GG-1:an korta restiderna och förtäta tidtabellerna. Inom kort fortsatte PRR med att även elektrifiera sina banor väster ut. PRR hade ett elektrifierat tågnät som omfattade totalt km (2.677 miles). Det motsvarade 40% av hela det elektrifierade järnvägsnätet i USA. På PRRs järnvägsnät färdas dagligen persontåg. Över 900 tåg per dag dras av 137 GG-1-lok, däribland de prestigefyllda snälltågen mellan New York och Washington. En ny karriär har påbörjats av GG-1-loken, som efter att de försetts med nya växellådor börjat användas i godstrafik.
