TYPO cuttlery holder Typo is stitched with half cross stitch over 1 thread on burlap/hessian. Please see separate tutorial for Stitching on Hessian. You could also use 14ct aida or 28ct linen as alternative fabric. MATERIAL: YARN: For each cuttlery holder you will need approx 20"x 6" (50x15cm) Finished holder will measure approx 40x10cm. 4 ply wool or cotton in black - approx 3-5m for each letter. TO BEGIN A) Please follow separate tutorial with images. B) Each square on the graph = 1 stitch C)To keep work even, I recommend to use a hoop or frame. However, this is a quite small stitching area, so if you are not a beginner you might do without. D) When stitching, please make sure you don't pull the thread to tight as this can make the work go uneven. E) To finish thread, run the needle through the back of a few stitches to secure it. F) If your finished work has become soiled, please wash in warm water with mild soap. Rinse well and dry flat do not wring. Press from back with a warm iron. COMPASS chart Compass is stitched with half cross stitch over 2 threads on hessian. Please see separate tutorial for Stitching on Hessian. This pattern also works well for 14ct and cross stitch. MATERIAL: 15ct hessian or 14ct aida = 50x50cm (finished cushion 45x45cm) BACKING MATERIAL FOR CUSHION: 50x65cm COLOUR KEY (using 8ply knitting wool) 1 = navy, appr 32m - = offwhite, appr 23m TO BEGIN Lay out the pages for the pattern, follow the 2 arrows to find the middle point this is where you start. A) Before you start stitching, please overlock all edges of fabric to prevent fraying. B) Find the centre of the fabric by folding it into quarters. Begin stitching from the centre. C) Each square on the graph = 1 stitch, and each symbol represent a colour from the colour key. D)To keep work even, I recommend to use a hoop or frame. They come in different sizes, and your local craft shop can guide you to get the right one for your project. PRESENTATION If you decide to frame your work, I recommend you use a local framer for best result. If your work has gone a little bit uneven, they can easily stretch it and make it look fantastic in your special selected frame. TYPO mönster Typo broderas med halva korsstygn over 1 tråd på jute (se separat instruktion för Att brodera på jute ). Detta mönster passar även bra för 14ct aida (5,6 trådar/cm). MATERIAL: för varje bestickkuvert behöver du ca 50x15cm för att ha extra arbetsutrymme. Färdigt kuvert mäter ca 40x10cm. GARN: du kan använda antingen ull eller bomull att brodera med i tjocklek som känns bra att fylla upp väven med, då du broderar endast halv korsstygn. 3-5m går åt till varje bokstav - sen behöver du lite extra till de dekorativa stygnen runtom. ATT BÖRJA A) Följ instruktionsbilderna steg-för-steg (obs! tillhörande text på engelska). B) Varje ruta på mönstret motsvarar ett stygn, och du broderar bara med 1 färg C) För att din brodyr skall bli jämn och hållas sträckt använd helst en brodyrring. Finns i olika storlekar och din handarbetsbutik kan guida dig till rätt storlek för ditt projekt. Då detta är ett mindre brodyrmönster kan du klara dig utan om du inte är nybörjare. D) Var noga med att inte dra åt tråden för tajt, då kan ditt brodyrmönster bli skevt. E) För av avsluta tråden, fast den genom några stygn på baksidan. F) Skulle din brodyr ha blivit lite solkig, tvätta den försiktigt i ljummet vatten med lite mild tvål. Vrid inte ur vattnet, utan lägg den slätt på en handduk att torka. STEP BY STEP - "TYP" CUTTLERY HOLDER 1) Cut the fabric 20"x5" (50x12cm) 2) Stitch a holding line to keep material to allow extra work space. from fraying. Contrast stitching or tonal. I have matched the thread with the yarn so I am stitching with black. 3) Finished holding line. 4) Mark appr 4cm down from edge together with the middle of the fabric - this is where you start stitching the letter.

Pin and stitch the holder When finished, fray the edges towards the holding line. together with the yarn,inside the holding line.
Stitching on Hessian Hessian is a fairly raw material and a bit uneven but that also helps create a more contemporary look to your project.
