the idea Det började med en tanke om att skapa ett unikt, tidlöst och förstklassigt hotell som skulle bli en inspirationskälla för gästerna genom att kombinera det bästa av skandinavisk arkitektur, formgivning och gastronomi. Den prisbelönte arkitekten Gert Wingårdh fäste tanken på papper. Interiören kommer från designikoner som Arne Jacobsen, Bruno Mathsson och Alvar Aalto och för menyn ansvarar Marcus Samuelsson från restaurang Aquavit i New York. Samtliga är unika kreatörer som tillsammans gör Sign till en framtida hotellklassiker. It all started with one concept, the idea of creating a unique, first-class hotel that would be a source of inspiration for the guests, combining the best of Scandinavian architecture, design and gastronomy. Award-winning architect Gert Wingårdh brought the concept to life. The interiors come from design icons such as Arne Jacobsen, Bruno Mathsson and Alvar Aalto, while the menu is the creation of Marcus Samuelsson from the Aquavit restaurant in New York. All are unique craftsmen whose combined efforts make the Sign a future hotel classic.

Design og tekst: Choice In-House 2008 Gert Wingårdh Sweden s best-known architect, nationally and internationally, Wingårdh has won the Kasper Salin award, the highest honour given by the Swedish Society of Architects, four times. Some of his famous creations are the Universeum in Göteborg and the House of Sweden in Washington DC. Arne Jacobsen (1902-1971) This Danish architect and designer is considered to be one of the most important designers in the functionalist movement. Best known for his 1950s furniture produced by Fritz Hansen the Myran and Sjuan chairs and the Ägget armchair. Alvar Aalto (1898-1976) Born in Finland, Aalto trained in architecture at the Helsinki Polytechnic, graduating in 1921. He was dedicated to a holistic perspective, attaching key importance to everything from the building down to details like light fixtures, textiles and glass models. Bruno Mathsson (1907-1988) One of Sweden s true giants, best known at home as the designer of several classic armchairs of pliable wood. Later classics include furniture made of steel pipes, like the Jetson chair and the Ulla bed. Morten Voss Morten Voss is known as the new generation s Danish designer who dares to follow his own path, unhampered by traditions. Today, he works primarily with furniture design, but also with building projects. Voss is well known for his Attitude lounge furniture. Erik Jørgensen (1928-1998) Jørgensen was a trained upholsterer and saddle maker. In 1954 he founded his factory, the Erik Jørgensen Möbelfabrik, which combined his skilled artisanry and great understanding of materials with the functionalist ideas and ideals of the era. Several of his sofa models are now considered design classics. Gunilla Allard A Swedish furniture designer, born in 1957. Allard s works have been highly acclaimed and won several distinctions, including the Georg Jensen and Bruno Mathsson awards. Norway Says A Norwegian group of industrial and furniture designers, and winners of the Bruno Mathsson award. Their artistic courage and innovative development make them worthy heirs of the international modernist movement, placing Norwegian design on the world map. FLOS FLOS was founded in 1962. The same year they began producing a number of lamps that were to become classics in Italian industrial design all designed by Achille and Piergiacomo Castiglioni. Over the years, prominent Italian and international names have designed for Flos. Montana Montana and its founder, Peter J. Lassen wants to improve everyone s quality of life at home and at work - based on stringent demands as to function, aesthetics, environment, economy and ethics.
