Swiss-Swedish Innovation Initiative: First Results and Future Activities SWII Information Session, VINNOVA Stockholm, April 18, 2013 Tomas Aronsson VINNOVA, International Collaboration and Networks Division Stefan Klauser State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation SERI Bilateral Research and Innovation Initiatives
Why SWII? Sweden and Switzerland are countries, which are heavily based on the competitiveness of their export industries. We have to compete through productivity gains and innovative product solutions. We need to apply state-of-the art scientific findings. Being two of the world leaders in innovation, Switzerland and Sweden form natural partners in tackling these tasks. In September 2012, Switzerland and Sweden decided to introduce the Swiss-Swedish Innovation Initiative. The goal is to foster innovation activities of SMEs and together with their research partners. Swiss and Swedish applicants have always been able to achieve a high share of successful applications in calls for projects of different funding initiatives. Common projects with Swedish partners might have an unusually high chance to make it to the funding stage. 2
