Kabeln har först en PE mantel och över den har gjutits ytterligare en mantel av PA (nylon). Denna konstruktion ger ett mycket hårt yttre skal för att klara kraven på belastning upp till 3500 N över 10 cm samt för att klara att direktförläggas i mark. Kabeln kan inte tillverkas med en grön rand. Istället föreslår vi att hela den yttre manteln färgas med lämplig färg t ex grön för att undvika förväxling med elkabel. Kabeln kan fås med valfri fiberkvalitet. I prisbilagan har vi offererat med AllWave, som troligen är världens just nu bästa fiber. AllWave uppfyller G.652.D med mycket stor marginal och klarar därmed G.652.A, G.652.B och G.652.C med ännu större marginal.
