Agreement EXTRA Real wage increases, expanded part-time pensions and a low-wage effort in the unions joint agreement demands. NOVEMBER 12016
United unions with combined strength in new wage negotiations The industrial unions and all LO associations are united behind the demands in the annual wage negotiations. The industrial sector will also continue to set the wage norm, the benchmark, for the rest of the labour market. A common agreement platform has been prepared. It will form the basis for the more industry-specific demands that will be submitted to the employers at the end of December. IF Metall s agreement council said yes to the joint demands in November.
The foundation is laid now, the agreement-specific demands are being formed The coordinated agreement demands will now be supplemented with the prioritisations made by the respective negotiation delegations based on the motions submitted to the agreement council. Joint LO low-wage effort IF Metall has said yes to a joint LO low-wage effort in 2017. The other associations will respond no later than 2 December. The effort concerns around 600,000 members of the LO associations, of whom two-thirds are women. LO coordinating its joint agreement demands is inspiring extensive interest. IF Metall is demanding: Real wage increases Part-time pensions An effort on the lowest paid
Demand for a scope of 2.8 per cent for wage increases The industrial unions are requiring a 2.8 per cent total agreement value in the upcoming wage negotiations. This demand is adjusted to the economic conditions and is on a level that does not put competitiveness at risk. It is also well in line with the Bank of Sweden s inflation target. Continued expansion of part-time pensions More possibilities for older employees to reduce their working hours is one of the most important issues for IF Metall s members. This is particularly apparent from the IF Metall meetings held in the autumn with members throughout Sweden. The system for part-time pensions shall therefore continue to be expanded. Low-wage effort for greater equality This model means that an amount of SEK 672 is collected in the wage pool for those who earn less than SEK 24,000. For everyone else, 2.8 per cent is collected. This is a solidarity model that benefits the lowest paid members, regardless of which industry or company they work in. It is also a gender equality effort since the lowest paid are most often women. Within IF Metall, around 30,000 women are involved. The length of the agreement period determines the contents The agreement demands are based on a one-year agreement and are the same for the industrial unions (Swedish Union of Forestry, Wood and Graphical Workers, IF Metall, the Swedish Food Workers Union, the Swedish Association of Graduate Engineers and Unionen). If longer agreements are reached, the demands are adjusted accordingly.
