Bygginfo Bygginfo är Finlands ledande informationstjänstföretag inom byggbranschen. År 2007 hade Bygginfo 120 anställda och omsättningen var över 11 miljoner euro. RTS och dess hel- eller delägda bolag bildar en organisation som kallas Bygginfo. Till Bygginfo hör det av stiftelsen helägda bolaget Ab Bygginfo samt de av RTS och Ab Bygginfo som majoritetsägare gemensamt ägda ET-INFOkeskuse AS (Tallinn) samt S:t Petersburg Construction Centre Ltd. Dessutom är RTS minoritetsägare i Haahtela-kehitys Oy. Bygginformationsstiftelsen RTS Allmänt Bygginformationsstiftelsen är en privat och allmännyttig stiftelse, som har som uppgift att främja såväl god planerings- och byggnadssed som god fastighetshållningssed. Stiftelsen och dess verksamhet leds av styrelse och fullmäktige, som representerar hela byggbranschen genom 48 organisationer och samfund. Bygginformationsstiftelsen RTS är Bygginfos modersamfund och fungerar som forsknings-, utvecklings- och klassificeringsenhet för hela samfundet. Projekt som utvecklas till lönsam och självständig affärsverksamhet övergår från stiftelsen till företaget. Stiftelsen deltar i verksamheten i Bygginfos bolag såväl på individplanet genom sina representanter som genom att organisera och finansiera ett omfattande kommittéarbete. Bygginformationsstiftelsen är i regel utgivare av de produkter som ges ut av Ab Bygginfo, antingen ensam eller tillsammans med andra parter. Sådana produkter är kartotek, avtalsdokument, databaser, tidningar, böcker, utställningar och Rakentajain kalenteri (Byggnadskalendern). Stiftelsens egen forskningsinsats är stabil för såväl personresurseringens som budgetfinansieringens del. Stiftelsen deltar ständigt i inhemskt och internationellt samarbete, ordnar offentliga debatter, delar ut stipendier, förtjänsttecken och flera priser inom byggbranschen. Under verksamhetsåret deltog stiftelsen i den uppföljning av det nationella byggpolitiska programmet som leds av miljöministeriet. Dessutom är stiftelsens representant arbetsgruppens sekreterare. Slutrapporten för det nationella byggpolitiska programmet överläts till bostadsministern i december. Forskningsverksamhet Bygginformationsstiftelsen RTS medverkar som samordnare och organisatör i flera samprojekt inom byggbranschen, i synnerhet i sådana där det krävs en opartisk aktör. Tyngdpunktsområden för RTS forskningsverksamhet var hållbar utveckling, processer kring planering, byggande och användning, informations- och kommunikationsteknologi samt renoveringsbyggande. För den hållbara utvecklingens del fästes särskild vikt vid klassificering av inomhusluft samt miljödeklarationer. Aktuella listor över klassificerade produkter och RT-miljödeklarationer finns på Bygginfos webbplats www.rakennustieto.fi. Tyngdpunktsområden för processer inom planering och byggande var projekten InfraRYL och FastighetsRYL samt Hus-klassificeringen. I InfraRYL-arbetet uppgjordes innehållet i delarna 2 System och 3 Byggtekniska byggnadsdelar. Innehållet i del 3, som innefattar betong-, stål- och träkonstruktioner samt broar, blev klar under verksamhetsåret. I fastighetsbranschens storprojekt FastighetsRYL (Allmänna kvalitetskrav för fastighetstjänster) startades uppställandet av kvalitetskraven. Hus 2000-nomenklaturen blev klar utan husteknikdelen. Nomenklaturen togs i bruk och publicerades på webben. Nomenklaturarbetet för husteknik inleddes. Inom tyngdpunktsområdet informations- och kommunikationsteknologi utvecklades elektroniska tjänster. Under året fortsatte utvecklandet av Bygginfos egna elektroniska tjänster. KH-, VVSoch RT-kartoteken publicerades som webbtjänster. Inom tyngdpunktsområdet renoveringsbyggande innefattade verksamheten uppgörandet av ett verk i Flervåningshus-serien samt förberedandet av ett utvecklingsprojekt för en webbtjänst som stöder renoveringsverksamhet. Under verksamhetsåret inleddes arbetet med ett manuskript för verket Kerrostalot 1975 2000 (Flervåningshus 1975 2000), som behandlar arkitekturens och byggteknikens historia. Dessutom fokuserade man på utvecklingen av informationstjänster för renoveringsbyggande. Stiftelsen deltog under verksamhetsåret också i andra aktörers Bygginfo 7

projekt, som stödde tyngdpunktsområdena för stiftelsens forskningsverksamhet. Utvecklingsverksamhet Den största satsningen för utvecklingsverksamheten var en kompetenskartläggning bland personalen samt analys av resultaten och slutsatser. Under verksamhetsåret genomfördes en omfattande strategigranskning. Som en följd av den förnyades strategierna och visionen med beaktande av miljöförändringarna vid styrelsernas gemensamma strategiseminarium i Tammerfors i oktober. Bygginfos initiativverksamhet var aktiv och under verksamhetsåret belönades sex initiativ. Byggforumen Byggforumen är fria sammankomster som ordnas av Bygginformationsstiftelsen RTS och som behandlar aktuella frågor inom byggbranschen utgående från aktuella anföranden av sakkunniga. Forumen erbjuder dem som är intresserade av frågor inom byggnadsbranschen ett tillfälle för kreativt meningsutbyte med andra professionella inom branschen. Totalt 240 personer deltog i de åtta byggforum som ordnades under verksamhetsåret. Internationellt samarbete Bygginformationsstiftelsen RTS fortsatte sin aktiva verksamhet tillsammans med andra internationella organisationer och aktörer med målsättningen att främja ett högklassigt och hälsosamt byggande samt att åstadkomma en nyttig interaktion. Stiftelsens styrelseordförande är ordförande för det internationella förbundet för byggcentraler UICB (Union Internationale des Centres du Bâtiment) och Ab Bygginfos verkställande direktör är dess generalsekreterare. UICB:s styrelse sammanträdde i mars och oktober i Stuttgart i Tyskland. I samband med oktobermötet hölls också UICB:s generalförsamling och årsseminarium. UICB kom överens om expertutbyte inom ICT-utvecklingsarbete och forskningsverksamhet. Bygginfo, YEM från Turkiet och det danska Byggecentrum var de första att testa utbytet under 2007. Via organisationen IAI (International Association for Interoperability), som upprätthåller produktmodellstandarden, deltog stiftelsen i arbetet med den internationella IAI-produktmodellsstandarden. Den finländska avdelningen i organisationen IAI fungerar som stiftelsens huvudkommitté. IAI förde under verksamhetsåret över tyngdpunkten för sin verksamhet från standarder till ibruktagande av dem och tog i bruk namnet BuildingSMART. ICIS (International Construction Information Society) är en internationell paraplyorganisation, som upprätthåller klassificeringar samt kostnadskalkyls- och arbetsdeklarationsanvisningar. Stiftelsens FoU-direktör deltog i organisationens verksamhet som representant för huvudkommittén för Hus-nomenklaturgruppen, styrelsemedlem och kassör. Stiftelsen var medlem i den internationella paraplyorganisationen för forskningsinstitut inom byggnadsbranschen CIB (International Council for Research and Innovation in Building and Construction). Under verksamhetsåret fortsatte EU-nätverksprojektet av ett konsortium lett av norrmännen. StandINN-projektet främjar användningen av livscykelsmodeller, funktionsbaserade tillvägagångssätt samt produktmodellering. Samarbetet med andra motsvarande aktörer i Norden var intensivt och gott. Ledningen för byggcentralerna sammanträdde i Oslo i maj och i Stockholm i november. Sekreterarskapet för den finländska avdelningen på de Nordiska byggdagarna sköttes av Bygginfo. Stiftelsen var också representerade i den finländska avdelningens styrelse, vilket motsvarade gällande praxis i de övriga nordiska länderna. Ab Bygginfo Allmänt Ab Bygginfo verkställer Bygginformationsstiftelsen RTS:s mål genom att producera och sälja produkter och tjänster, med hjälp av vilka fackmän inom byggbranschen och konsumenter dagligen kan iaktta god planerings-, byggnads- och fastighetshållningssed. 8 bygginfo

Förutom kartoteken RT (Bygginformation), SIT (Inredningsinfo), VVS, KH (Fastighetsförvaltning) och Ratu (Byggproduktion) gav företaget ut avtalsblanketter, böcker och tidningar samt digitala produkter, och uppehöll byggnadsmaterialsutställningar på fyra orter i Finland. Som ett resultat av produktutveckling blev VVS-kartotekets webbversion klar på våren och RT Net i november 2007. Förutom Helsingfors Byggcentrum hade Bygginfo enheter även i Kuopio, Villmanstrand, Uleåborg och Tammerfors. Alla enheter bedrev bokhandelsverksamhet och, med undantag av Villmanstrand, även byggmaterialsutställningar. RT-kartoteket (Bygginformationskartoteket) I RT-kartoteket har de viktigaste anvisningarna, bestämmelserna och byggprodukterna som gäller planering och förverkligande av byggnader samlats. RT-kartoteket är avsett för arkitekter, byggnadsplanerare och byggherrar för dagligt bruk. RT-kartoteket används också av entreprenörer, kommunernas byggnadsinspektörer samt läroinrättningar. RT-kartoteket uppdateras så att det alltid är aktuellt på papper, cd eller via Internet. RT-kartoteket utgavs av Bygginformationsstiftelsen. VVS-kartoteket VVS-kartoteket innehåller information för VVS-fackfolk om VVS-entreprenad, -planering, -byggande, reparationer och underhåll samt VVSprodukter. Kartoteket innefattar anvisningar, regler och produktinformation, sammanfattningar av undersökningsresultat, d.v.s. kunskapskorn, register samt handboken TalotekniikkaRYL 2002 (HusteknikRYL), som definierar de allmänna kvalitetskraven inom husbyggande. År 2007 var ett år av förändringar för VVS-kartoteket. Tjänsten LVI Net (VVS Net) startade och den sista uppdateringen av VVS-kartoteket på papper utkom. VVS-kartoteket gick helt över till elektroniska publiceringsformer. En cd för VVS-redovisning utkom. VVS-kartoteket publiceras och uppdateras som LVI Net-tjänsten via webben, vilket innebär att uppgifterna alltid är ajour, samt på cd. VVS-kartoteket utgavs av Bygginformationsstiftelsen RTS och VVS-centralförbundet rf. SIT-kartoteket (Inredningsinformationskartotek) SIT-kartoteket sammanställer den inredningsinformation som finns på fältet: rumslösningar, information om inrednings- och byggmaterial, dimensionering, möbler samt planering av dessa m.m. Kartoteket består av tre delar: anvisnings-, förordnings- och byggvarukartotek. SIT-kartoteket uppdateras som pappers- och cd-version. SIT-kartoteket utgavs av Bygginformationsstiftelsen RTS och Inredningsarkitekterna SIO rf. Ratu-kartoteket (Byggproduktionskartotek) Ratu-kartoteket är ett allmänkartotek för produktionsplanering inom byggande. Det innefattar arbetsbeskrivningar enligt god byggnadssed samt relaterade åtgångsuppgifter. Avsikten med kartoteket är att förbättra produktivitet, säkerhet och kvalitet inom byggande. Detta förverkligas genom att på arbetsplatser samla in information om arbetsåtgång för planering, att publicera trygga arbetsmetoder enligt god byggnadssed och att producera nödvändig och lättanvänd kvalitetssäkringsinformation för arbetsplatser. Ratu är en informationskälla avsedd för yrkesmän till arbetsplatsbehov. Den fungerar även som en aktuell informationskälla inom yrkesutbildning och fortbildning. Under verksamhetsårets höst publicerades den sista uppdateringen av det tryckta Ratu-kartoteket. Ratu-kartoteket publiceras och uppdateras som en cd-produkt. Ratu-kartoteket utgavs av Bygginformationsstiftelsen RTS och Talonrakennusteollisuus ry (Husbyggnadsindustrin). Bygginfo 9

KH-kartoteket (Fastighetsförvaltningskartotek) I KH-kartoteket beskrivs god fastighetshållningssed. Det innehåller information för förutseende och planerad teknisk, ekonomisk och administrativ förvaltning av fastigheter. I kartoteket ingår också servicebok, bruksanvisning för bostadsutrymmen samt handböcker för disponentbyråers kvalitetshantering och fördelning av ansvaret för reparationskostnader. KH-kartoteket är ett verktyg för beslutsfattande, för att öka yrkesskickligheten hos disponenter, fastighetschefer och fastighetsägare samt för undervisningsändamål. I februari publicerades den sista uppdateringen av KH-kartoteket. Det tryckta kartoteket ersattes av fastighetsinformationstjänsten KH Net. Publiceringen av KH-kartoteket på cd fortsatte. KH-kartoteket publiceras och uppdateras som cd och via webben, vilket innebär att uppgifterna alltid är ajour. KH-kartoteket utgavs av Bygginformationsstiftelsen RTS tillsammans med 15 samarbetspartner inom fastighetsbranschen. Avtalshandlingar Utbudet av avtalsdokument består av avtalsblanketter för byggnads- och fastighetsundershållsbranscherna, uppdragskataloger, dokumentmallar och avtalsvillkor. Produkterna publicerades som pappersblanketter och på webben i tjänsten Sopimuslomake Net på adressen www.sopimuslomake.net. Bokförlagsverksamhet Under verksamhetsåret publicerades finskspråkig facklitteratur för byggbranschen, böcker för småhusbyggare, arkitekturböcker på engelska samt anvisningar för typgodkännande. Det goda samarbetet med ministerier, organisationer och samfund fortsatte. Boken Soiva viiva, som handlar om bildhuggare Raimo Utriainens konst och liv, utkom i februari samtidigt som en utställning öppnades i Esbo konstmuseum Emma. I serien Pientalo (Småhus) utkom boken Pientalon perustukset (Småhusgrunder). Den sjätte versionen av kostnadskalkylprogrammet Klara.biz publicerades. Det utgavs sju böcker på engelska. Av dessa var första upplagor: Office Buildings in Finland, Alvar Aalto Summer Homes, som är den tredje delen i böckerna om Aaltos bostadsarkitektur, och boken Wood Architecture in Finland photographed by Jussi Tiainen. Nya upplagor togs på böckerna Zumthor, Small Houses in Finland, Architecture of Image och Finnish Sauna. Boken Villas and Saunas i Finland, som utgavs år 2006, var nominerad vid RIBA International Book Award i London (long list nominee). Under verksamhetsåret utkom totalt 46 titlar och dessutom 16 anvisningar för typgodkännande på finska och svenska. Antalet förstaupplagor av böcker var 21, av vilka 2 st. i cd-format. Byggbokhandeln Byggbokhandeln har all inhemsk branschlitteratur och Finlands bästa utbud av internationell litteratur inom byggbranschen. Byggbokhandeln satsade på marknadsföring och försäljning av arkitektur- och fackböcker, såväl egna publikationer som sådana som var föremål för förmedling samt försäljning av nya egna elektroniska produkter. Mässan Bygg och renovera ordnades i samarbete med Helsingfors byggcentrum både på våren och hösten. Dessutom deltog Byggbokhandeln i mässor och andra evenemang inom branschen. Bygginfo Tidningar Enheten Bygginfo Tidningar ansvarar för utgivning av Bygginfos yrkestidskrifter. År 2007 var tidningarna fyra: Rakennustaito, RY. Rakennettu Ympäristö, Locus och Kehittyvä Kiinteistö. Dessutom utgav enheten ett gratisnummer av tidningen Kodin Rakennustieto i Helsingforsområdet. Bygginfo Utbildning Utbildningsenheten ansvarar för planering, marknadsföring och förverkligande av avgiftsbelagd utbildning och seminarier. Dessutom ordnar enheten produktutbildning för såväl sin egen personal som kunderna. Utbildningsenheten har också hand om uthyrningen av Bygginfosalen. InfraRYL-utbildningarna fortsatte år 2007. bildningsområde var Informationsmodellsseminarierna, av vilka det ordnades totalt fyra med lite olika teman. På senhösten ordnades seminariet Arkitektbyrån som business. Helsingfors Byggcentrum Helsingfors Byggcentrum har varit en tillförlitlig och opartisk informationskälla för yrkes- och småhusbyggare i huvudstadsregionen redan i 75 års tid. Jubileet firades 29.11. på Runebergsgatan i Helsingfors i arbetets tecken med rådgivning och handledning av kunder. Många kursgrupper och studerande inom byggbranschen samt utländska byggare bekantade sig månatligen med byggcentret. På Helsingfors byggcentrum ordnades såväl eget program som utställartillställningar. Av de egna evenemangen var mässan Bygg och renovera på våren och hösten viktigast. Utställarnas evenemang är huvudsakligen lanseringar av nya produkter samt publiceringen av resultaten i designtävlingen Scanforma. Som en ny tjänst ordnades ett informationsställe om rörrenoveringar som betjänar husbolag och disponenter. Där finns information om rörrenoveringar, produktinformation samt information om entreprenörer och planerare. I slutet av verksamhetsåret fanns 163 utställare på utställningen och 212,5 utställningsplatser var uthyrda. Under verksamhetsåret betjänade Helsingfors Byggcentrum över 50 000 kunder. Bygginfo Kuopio Bygginfo Kuopio betjänade yrkesbyggare och konsumenter i Kuopio ekonomiområde genom att sprida aktuell bygginformation. Under verksamhetsåret hade regioncentret över 20 000 besökare. På byggutställningen deltog 37 företag. Bygginfo Villmanstrand Bygginfo Uleåborg Bygginfo Uleåborg betjänade yrkesbyggare och konsumenter i Norra Finland genom att sprida aktuell bygginformation. Under verksamhetsåret hade Bygginfo i Uleåborg ca 18 000 besökare. Antalet utställare som deltog i utställningen var 33. Bygginfo Tammerfors Bygginfo Tammerfors spred information om god byggnadssed i Birkalands ekonomiområde. Antalet utställare som deltog i utställningen var 86 i slutet av året. Under år 2007 hade utställningen och bokhandeln ca 18 000 besökare. ET-INFOkeskuse AS Under ET-INFOkeskuses femtonde verksamhetsår utvidgades bolagets egen förlags- och seminarieverksamhet ytterligare. Under verksamhetsåret började medieförsäljningen av den estniska webbaserade informationstjänsten för byggmaterial ehitustooted. ee. Avsikten med den är att vara en del av framtidens elektroniska informationstjänster på estniska. ET-INFOkeskuse utgav följande böcker inom betongbranschen för den estniska marknaden: Betoon ja raudbetoon. BÜ2 Spetsifitseerimine, tehnoloogia, kvaliteet, vastavushindamine. Betoon ja raudbetoon. BÜ3 Projekti ehituskirjeldus ja joonised. Kompletteringen av ETF- och KH-kartoteken fortsatte som tidigare, och RT-anvisningskorten översattes till estniska. Enligt seminarieprogrammet 2007 arrangerades 27 utbildningsseminarier. Seminarieverksamheten stödde i hög grad utställningsverksamheten som finns i samma lokaliteter och där 64 utställares produkter finns utställda. Utställningen hade drygt 7 000 besökare under verksamhetsåret, de flesta var fackmän inom byggbranschen. ET-INFOkeskuses produkter fås också via infostället i Tartu. Bygginfo Villmanstrand koncentrerade sig på att sälja informationstjänster och läroböcker inom byggbranschen på sitt verksamhetsområde. Regionenheten arrangerade flera utbildningsoch försäljningstillfällen för kartotektjänsten och tjänsten Sopimuslomake Net på sitt verksamhetsområde. Bygginfo 11

S:T Petersburg Byggcentrum PCC Verksamhetsåret var det tolfte för S:t Petersburgs Byggcentrum PCC. PCC fortsatte med bokhandelsverksamheten, seminarierna och försäljningen av publikationer, gav ut tidningen Infstroy och fortsatte med sin e-postmarknadsföringstjänst, som går under namnet Infstroy direct. S:t Petersburg Byggcentrum erbjöd också tullnings- och speditionstjänster från Finland till Ryssland. PCC fortsatte uppgörandet av ett ryskspråkigt tillbehörskort för företag som verkar i Ryssland under affärsnamnet Stroifail. Utställningen hade drygt 12 000 besökare, de flesta var fortsättningsvis fackmän. På utställningen presenterades produktinformation från ca hundra företag. S:t Petersburgs byggcentrum ordnade 52 olika evenemang under verksamhetsåret med 10 000 åhörare. PCC:s egna kontaktdagar för den finländska industrin ordnades i Helsingfors i juni. 12 bygginfo

Building Information Building Information is the leading provider of construction information in Finland. In 2007, it employed 120 persons and had a turnover of over 11 million. RTS and its wholly or partly owned companies form an organisation referred to as Building Information. The consolidation group consists of Building Information Ltd, wholly owned by the foundation (described below), and the following, which are owned jointly by RTS and Building Information Ltd as majority shareholders: ET-INFOkeskuse AS (Tallinn) and St. Petersburg Construction Centre Ltd. RTS is also a minority shareholder in Haahtela-kehitys Oy. Building Information Foundation RTS General Building Information Foundation RTS is a private, not-for-profit foundation whose task is to promote good town planning and building practices as well as sound property management principles. The foundation and its operations are managed by a Board and an assembly representing the entire building and construction sector through 48 organisations and associations. Building Information Foundation RTS is the parent entity of Building Information and acts as the entire organisation s research, development, and classification unit. Projects that are developed into profitable independent businesses are transferred from the foundation to its operative company. The foundation participates in the business of the RTS companies both at the personnel level through its representatives and by organising and financing extensive committee work. Products printed by Building Information Ltd are chiefly published by Building Information Foundation RTS, either alone or in collaboration with other parties. These products include information files, agreements, databases, magazines, books, exhibitions, and the Rakentajain kalenteri (Builder s Yearbook). The foundation s own research investment is stable with respect to both personnel resources and budget financing. The foundation continuously participates in domestic and international collaboration as well as arranging public debates and issuing scholarships, honours, and several awards in the field of construction. During the period under review, the foundation participated in the monitoring work of the national construction policy programme led by the Ministry of the Environment. The foundation s representative also served as the secretary of the monitoring committee. The final report of the national construction policy programme was delivered to the Minister of Housing in December. Research activities Building Information Foundation RTS is a planner and organiser of joint projects in the construction industry, particularly where an independent agent is needed. RTS s research activities in 2007 focused on sustainable development, design, building and utilisation processes, information and communication technology, and renovation. Activities in the sustainable development priority area included indoor air classification and environmental product declarations. For an up-to-date list of classified products and RT Environmental Declaration documents, visit the Building Information Web site at www.rakennustieto.fi. The areas of focus in planning and construction processes were the InfraRYL and KiinteistöRYL projects and the Talo classification. In the InfraRYL project, the content of parts 2 (on systems) and 3 (on technical construction elements) was created. The content of part 3, which covers concrete, steel, and wood structures as well as bridges, was completed during the period under review. In the major building project, KiinteistöRYL, (General Specification for Property Services), the preparation of quality requirements was started. The Talo 2000 terminology was completed except for the building technology portion, and the terminology was adopted and published on the Web. Building technology terminology work was begun. A key focus in the priority area of information and communication technology was the development of electronic services. In 2007, Building Information s electronic services were developed further. The KH, HEVAC, and RT Information Files were published as online services. RAKENNUSTIETO 17

Activities in the area of repair construction included the preparation of a new work in the Kerrostalot ( Apartment Buildings ) series and the preparation of a development project for the online service that supports repair construction. During the review period, preparation of the manuscript of the Kerrostalot 1975 2000 publication began. The publication discusses the history of the architecture and construction technology of residential block buildings. Furthermore, emphasis was given to the development of new information services for repair construction. The review period also saw the foundation involved in projects of other actors that supported the priority areas of the foundation s research activities. Development activities The greatest investment in the development activities was the competence survey of all personnel, the analysis of its results, and the drawing of conclusions on the basis of these. In the period under review, broad strategic review was carried out, based on which strategies and the vision were renewed in the joint strategy seminar of the boards in October in Tampere so as to take into consideration environmental changes. Initiative at Building Information was active, and six initiatives were rewarded in 2007. Building Forums Building Forums are informal events organised by Building Information Foundation RTS to discuss topical issues in the construction sector after introductory presentations by expert speakers. The forums provide an opportunity to those interested in construction industry related matters for creative exchange of ideas with other professionals. In total, 240 people took part in the eight Building Forum events held during the review period. International co-operation Building Information Foundation RTS continued to work actively with other international organisations and players in the industry, aiming to promote high-quality, sound building practices and achieve beneficial interaction. The chairman of the foundation Board acted as the president of UICB (the International Union of Building Centres) and the managing director of Building Information Ltd as Secretary General. The Executive Committee of UICB convened in March and October in Stuttgart, Germany. In connection with the October meeting, also the annual general meeting of UICB and the annual seminar were held. UICB made agreements on expert exchange in the areas of ICT development and research activities. The first centres participating in the exchange in 2007 were Building Information, YAP (Istanbul), and the Danish Building Information Centre. The foundation participated in international product model standardisation work through the International Alliance for Interoperability (IAI), which maintains the product model standard. The Finnish section of the IAI acted as the foundation s standing committee. The IAI moved its focus from the standard to its deployment and changed its name to BuildingSMART. The International Construction Information Society (ICIS) is an international umbrella association of organisations maintaining classifications and cost and specification instructions. The foundation s R&D director participated in the association s activities as a representative of the building terminology team s standing committee, a Board member, and the treasurer. The foundation was a member of CIB, the International Council for Research and Innovation in Building and Construction. The extensive EU network project STAND-INN continued in 2007. Driven by a consortium co ordinated by Norwegians, the project aims to promote the use of life-cycle models, function based practices, and product modelling. Co-operation with other Nordic industry players was close, and the results achieved were good. The management of the building information centres assembled in May in Oslo and in November in Stockholm. Building Information was responsible for the secretarial duties of the Nordic Building Forum s Finnish section. The foundation was represented also on the Board of the Finnish chapter, which corresponds to policy in other Nordic countries. 18 Building information

Building Information Ltd General Building Information Ltd works toward Building Information Foundation RTS s mission by producing and selling products and services that enable construction and property professionals and consumers to comply with good planning, construction, and property management practices on a day-to-day basis. In addition to RT (Building Information), SIT (Interior Decorations Information), LVI (HEVAC), KH (Property Management), and Ratu (Construction Productivity) Files, the company published contract forms, books, magazines, and digital products, also holding exhibitions on building materials in four locations in Finland. As a result of the product development work, the online version of the HEVAC File was completed in the spring, while the RT Net service was completed in November 2007. In addition to the Helsinki Building Centre, Building Information had regional units in Kuopio, Lappeenranta, Oulu, and Tampere. All units had book-selling activities and, with the exception of Lappeenranta, exhibition activities as well. RT Building Information File The RT File compiles the most important standards, regulations, and building products related to the design and construction of buildings. It is intended for architects, structural engineers, and builders daily use but is also used by contractors, municipal construction supervisors, and educational institutions. The updating process is carried out such that the paper, CD, and online versions of the RT File are always up to date. The RT Building Information File was published by the Building Information Foundation. Hevac Information File The HEVAC File contains building engineering information on contract building, design, construction, repair, and maintenance as well as on HEVAC products. The File includes standards, regulations, product information, summaries of research results, an index, and the TalotekniikkaRYL 2000 handbook (General Specification for Building Services). The review period was a year of changes for the HEVAC File. The HEVAC Net service was started, and the last update to the paperform HEVAC Information File was published. The HEVAC File was transferred entirely to electronic publication formats. The HEVAC declaration CD was published. The HEVAC File is published and updated as the HEVAC Net service via the Internet, providing up to-date information, and as a CD product. The HEVAC Information File was published by LVI-Keskusliitto (the HEVAC Central Federation) and Building Information Foundation RTS. SIT Interior Decorations Information File The SIT Interior Decorations Information File compiles the interior decoration knowledge in the field: space solutions, interior decoration and construction material information, dimensions, equipment and its planning, etc. The File has three parts: the Standards File, Regulations File, and Products File. The SIT File is updated as a paper and CD version. The SIT Interior Decorations Information File was published by the Finnish Association of Interior Architects (SIO) and Building Information Foundation RTS. Ratu Construction Productivity Information File The Ratu File is a general information file on planning of construction production. It contains work method descriptions that are in line with good building practice and the related work and material requirements. The File is intended to improve the productivity, safety, and quality of construction. This aim can be achieved by collecting labour input information at construction sites for production planning, publishing information about safe work methods that comply with good building practice, and producing easyto-use quality assurance information needed on work sites. The Ratu File is a source of information for professionals, to be used at Building information 19

Lemcon Lemcon building sites. It is also an up-to-date source of information for use in professional training and further training. In the autumn of the review period, the last update of the printed Ratu File was published. The Ratu File is published and updated as a CD product. The Ratu File was published by Building Information Foundation RTS and Talonrakennusteollisuus ry (the Finnish House Construction Industry association). KH Property Management File The KH File describes good property management practice. It contains information on proactive and systematic technical, economic, and administrative property maintenance. Also included are a maintenance book, residential premises user instructions, and handbooks on quality management in real estate maintenance and liability for repair costs in a housing corporation. The KH File is a tool designed to support the decision-making and increase the know-how of property management professionals and property-owners. It is also suitable for use in teaching. In February 2007, the last update of the printed KH File was published. The printed File was replaced by the KH Net building information service. The KH File is still published on CD. The KH File is published and updated as a CD product and via the Internet, providing up-to-date information. The KH File was published by Building Information Foundation RTS and 15 partners in the property industry. Contract documents The selection of contract documents includes building and property management contracts, task lists, document templates, and contract terms and conditions. The products are published in paper form and on the Internet via the Sopimuslomake Net service at www.sopimuslomake.net. Book publishing During the review period, Building Information published Finnish-language professional literature for the construction industry and books for homebuilders. In addition, books on architecture and type approval guides were published in English. Good cooperation with government ministries, organisations, and associations continued. The book Soiva Viiva, on the art and life of the sculptor Raimo Utriainen, was published in February in connection with an exhibition launched in the Espoo Museum of Modern Art (EMMA). In the Pientalo ( Small House ) series, the book Pientalon perustukset ( Foundations of the Small House ) saw its first edition. Version 6 of the Klara.biz cost calculation programs was published. There were seven English-language books published: The first editions were Office Buildings in Finland, Alvar Aalto Summer Homes (the third part in the Aalto residential architecture series), and Wood Architecture in Finland Photographed by Jussi Tiainen. A new printing was made of the Zumthor, Small Houses in Finland, Architecture of Image, and Finnish Sauna books. The Villas and Saunas in Finland, published in 2006, was nominated for the RIBA International Book Award in London (long-list nominee). All told, 46 titles were published in 2007, in addition to the 16 Finnish and Swedish type approval guides. There were 21 first editions, two of which came out on CD. The Building Bookshop The Building Bookshop sells all available titles of Finnish building-sector-related literature, and their selection of foreign literature on building and construction is the best in Finland. The Building Bookshop concentrated on marketing and selling both its own and other publishers architectural and reference books. It also focused on selling its new electronic products. The Building Bookshop and the Helsinki Building Centre organised the Rakenna ja remontoi ( Build and Renovate ) Fair, held in the spring and autumn. In addition, the Building Bookshop participated in building fairs and other events. 20 Building information

Lemcon Periodicals Unit Building Information s Periodicals Unit is responsible for the trade periodicals published by Building Information. In 2007, there were four periodicals: Rakennustaito ( Finnish Construction Magazine ), RY. Rakennettu Ympäristö ( Built Environment ), Locus (for real-estate- and construction-sector professionals), and Kehittyvä Kiinteistö (for property management professionals). In addition, the Periodicals Unit published one issue of the free-distribution magazine Kodin Rakennustieto ( Building Information for Homeowners ) in the Helsinki region. Training Unit Building Information s Training Unit is responsible for planning, marketing, and implementing training courses and seminars for fee-paying clients. In addition, the unit organises product training for its own staff and for customers. The Training Unit also handles the leasing of the Building Information Conference Room (Rakennustietosali). In 2007, InfraRYL training was continued. Another significant training topic was the Tietomalli ( Information Model ) seminars, four of which were arranged, with slightly different topics. At the end of the autumn, the Arkkitehtitoimisto bisneksenä ( Doing Business as an Architecture Agency ) seminar was held. Helsinki Building Centre The Helsinki Building Centre has been a reliable, independent source of information for professional and small builders in the Helsinki Metropolitan Area for 75 years now. The 75th anniversary was celebrated on 29 November at the Runeberginkatu facility in Helsinki, on a normal office day. The centre was visited each month by many students and groups of students studying construction-related subjects as well as foreign constructors. Events were held at the Helsinki Building Centre and by outside exhibitors. The Rakenna ja remontoi ( Build and Renovate ) Fair events in spring and autumn were the most important in-house events. The exhibitors events were primarily launch events for new products and the second release of the Scanforma design competition results. As a new service, an information stand on plumbing renovation was arranged for housing and housing management companies. The stand offered general information on plumbing renovations, product information, and information on contractors and planners. At the end of the review period, there were 163 exhibitors and 212.5 stands at the exhibition. During the review period, the Helsinki Building Centre served over 50,000 customers. Building Information Kuopio Building Information Kuopio served professional builders and consumers in the Kuopio economic area by distributing topical building information. The centre had 20,000 visitors during the review period, and 37 companies took part in the building exhibition. Building Information Lappeenranta Building Information Lappeenranta concentrated on selling construction-sector-related information services and textbooks in its operating area. The regional unit arranged several training and sales events for the Information File and the Sopimuslomake Net services in its area. Building Information Oulu Building Information Oulu served professional builders and consumers in the North Finland economic area by distributing topical building information. Some 18,000 people visited the centre in 2007, and there were 33 exhibitors at the exhibition. Building Information Tampere Building Information Tampere distributed information about good building practice in the Tampere economic area, and there were 86 exhibitors at the exhibition at the end of the year. In 2007, there were approximately 18,000 visitors to the exhibition and the bookshop. Building information 21

ET-INFOkeskuse AS In the 15th year of operation of ET-INFOkeskuse, the company s publishing and seminar operations were further expanded. Also, 2007 saw media sales commence for Estonian building products information service ehitustooted.ee. Its aim is to be part of the electronic Estonian information services of the future. ET-INFOkeskuse published the following books in the concrete field for the Estonian market: Betoon ja raudbetoon, BÜ2 Spetsifitseerimine, tehnoloogia, kvaliteet, vastavushindamine, Betoon ja raudbetoon, and BÜ3 Projekti ehituskirjeldus ja joonised. Work on the ETF Building Information File and the KH Property Management File continued during the review period, and the RT Standards Sheets were translated into Estonian. In accordance with the 2007 seminar programme, 27 training seminars were held. They provided essential supported to the exhibition activities on the same premises, displaying the products of 64 exhibitors. More than 7,000 visitors came to the exhibition during the review period. The majority were construction-industry professionals. The products of ET-INFOkeskuse are also available from the Tartu info stand. St. Petersburg Construction Centre Ltd (Pcc) This was the 12th year of operation for the St. Petersburg Construction Centre (PCC). The centre continued its bookshop, seminar, and publication sales activities; published Infstroy magazine; and continued its e-mail marketing service Infstroy-direct. The centre also provided customs clearance and forwarding services from Finland to Russia and continued its production of Russianlanguage product sheets under the Stroifail brand for companies operating in Russia. The exhibition had over 12,000 visitors in 2007, the majority being experts in their field, as in the past. The exhibition featured product information from about 100 companies. The St. Petersburg Construction Centre arranged 52 different events during the review period, with 10,000 participants. PCC s contact day for Finnish industry was held in Helsinki in June. 22 Building information
