Studio Fredrik Skåtar also modelled and simulated the effects of Susanne Rottenbacher s art works, made from coloured acrylic glass with paint strokes and LED-cables. To make this effect the best, it is important that the mirror is mounted so that i aligns the adjacent wall. Lamps (a total of 34) Total wall mounted lamps: 23 (12 Small 5 Medium, 6 Large) Behind the mirror there should be sufficient space to room a power supply unit. It is preferab this unit as close to the LEDs as possible to prevent power loss through extended cable lengt because of maintenance. The entire lamp can be removed to replace LEDs and supervise pow unit. Studio Fredrik Skåtar also analysed the spaces of the Martin-Gropius-Bau by making 3d- models and visualisations of reliefs, materials and light conditions. Olafur Eliasson 2010 Kaleidoscope simulation Studio Fredrik Skåtar www.skatar.com studio@skatar.com Bubbles, translated into lamps, find their way upwards, along walls and ceilings. In the top floor ceiling, a highpolished aluminium sculpture is placed, symbolizing a water surface, CNC-milled from a 70 mm solid plate. The lamps were digitally modelled and laser sintered, then casted in bronze. Inside the lamp s u-shaped profile, LEDs were mounted, each 5mm. To create a continuous light stripe, Lichtbau created a custom-made opaque filter that was casted into the U-profile. Alongside the project "New York City Waterfalls", Olafur Eliasson made a smaller project where light points illustrate falling water, using two perforated barrels rotating in different directions. The intersecting holes are arranged according to a moiré-pattern, designed to create a maximum variation of light shapes. Studio Fredrik Skåtar designed the sculpture, its rotation concept and the moiré pattern, using animations and smaller test models. The sculpture was built from stainless steel, small electric motors, skateboard wheels and rotating plates on different layers.
