More specifically, this practice-based PhD wants to research how future design of public spaces can stimulate and contribute to social meeting and interaction between different multicultural groups and subgroups in a playful way in order to contribute to a more coherent identity and social interaction. An important issue is the question of how to involve children and young adults as experts on subjects as play and trigger in ways that can be useful to make public spaces more social, playful and accessible for different user-groups. How to use their experiences, ideas and reflections to create tools and a methodological framework to change public spaces. The research project is part of TRADERS ( Training Art and Design Researchers in Participation for Public Space ), a European FP7, Marie Curie Actions, Multi-ITN project. Main supervisor: Henric Benesch. Second supervisor: Johnny Friberg. Marina Cyrino, musikalisk gestaltning/musical performace and interpretation, HSM/Academy of Music and Drama Project: Creative Practices through Cross-Art Collaboration The research project consists of several artistic collaborative processes between the flutist Marina Cyrino and artists in different fields of expertise. The principal aim is to explore and shed light on processes of artistic collaboration across art forms and to develop creative

3 practices and performances. The emphasis on the learning processes of the musician-performer within the Western classical tradition is usually on striving for excellence in the context of performance, by focusing on the technical control of the instrument. This project aims to contribute for the understanding of other fundamental artistic abilities as communication, interpersonal and creative skills. But also to demonstrate an understanding of the collaborative nature of Art itself, by emphasizing the process of making inter-connections, cross-fertilization of ideas and practices. Collaborative learning is a fundamental skill for contemporary practioners in the arts and its critical to deeping and transforming shared expertise and understanding. The project explores collaborative ways of learning in order to promote creativity and innovation. The artistic outcomes are focused on artistic practices and performances constructed through dialogue, risk-taking and shared exploration of ideas and meaning within the different art forms. The doctoral studies of Marina Cyrino are funded by CAPES Foundation Brazil. Main supervisor: Maria Bania. Second supervisor: Sverker Jullander. BJÖRN DAHLSTRÖM NEW DOCTOR OF HONOUR Formgivaren och grafiska designern Björn Dahlström har utsetts till hedersdoktor vid Konstnärliga fakulteten, Göteborgs universitet. Björn Dahlström är en av Sveriges främsta möbel-och industriformgivare och har designat en mängd olika produkter, så som cyklar, leksaker och köksredskap. Läs mer om hans nya uppdrag här. PARSE CALL FOR CONTRIBUTIONS THE 1ST PARSE BIENNIAL RESEARCH CONFERENCE ON TIME The first biennial PARSE conference at the Faculty of Fine, Applied and Performing Arts, University of Gothenburg, Sweden (5 th and 6 th November 2015) takes as its point of departure the question of TIME. Contributions are invited in the form of papers, presentations, artistic interventions, readings, panels, performances, public actions, screenings and workshops. We are especially interested in contributions that critically reflect upon, and/or in someway work to modifythe familiar conventions of the academic paper, the panel discussion and the artist s talk. The deadline for proposals is 1st March 2015, however, we are accepting proposals for peer review from July 1st 2014, and we recommend early submission. The recent understanding of archives (national archives, in particular) has focussed on their relation to power, to the authorities, privilege of discourse and self-image. No language, no histories and no archives are neutral. In the tradition of Michel Foucault, thinkers and artists have brought forward a range of narratives that have been silenced, hidden or ignored in the established archives. At the same time, our archives are currently rapidly growing and multiplying. The sheer amount of recorded events is problematic. The National Archives of France, for instance, now stretches over running meter. In spite of advanced searching tools, documents are in danger of oblivion and decay. They lose their context and meaning, both as objects and as signs. The symposium Order and Collapse unfolds between these two poles. Apply for International Postdoc! Apply no later than Tuesday, 2 September Individual researchers with a doctorate from a Swedish university or from the European University Institute (EUI) may apply for International Postdoc. In order to apply, your PhD must have been awarded no earlier than 1 July, 2012, and no later than the closing date for this call. The grant is based on that you as the researcher being employed by a Swedish Higher Education Institution during the entire period of the grant, which can be between 18 and 36 months, including the time when you are abroad. The grant period must be started in the first half of At least two-thirds of the grant time must be spent abroad. The research period abroad can be divided up into several shorter periods. 6 HDK-PROJECT GETS FUNDS FROM VINNOVA Ett förstudieprojekt med fokus på utveckling av socialt inkluderande tjänster i modebranschen, sökt och initerat av HDK, har tilldelats medel från Vinnova och kommer nu att sättas i hamn av bland andra Marcus Jahnke, lektor i design på HDK. Projektet avser att utmana de exkluderande normer om bland annat ungdom, skönhet och rikedom som är dominerande inom modeindustrin för att i stället främja ett inkluderande arbetssätt genom nya, utvecklade modeller för samverkan. For the year 2014 are SEK to distribute within the faculty (see guidelines in attached PDF). The amount paid shall be made in each case to cover a substantial portion of the travel expenses. No particular application required. If there is invitation / confirmation to the conference, etc. must be attached. There is an agreement between the heads of departments from 2011 on co-financing the travel grants.
