The overall aim of the Academy is to support the academic establishment of junior researchers by creating a forum where they can engage in an academic dialogue and analyse new issues. With the help of this platform, postdoctoral and doctoral researchers in intellectual property will be able to work and develop in the field supported by short term financing (one to three months), with the goal that the work will be published in national and international publications. It should also be possible to apply for grants for the drafting of doctoral applications. To ensure that a high level of scientific research is guaranteed, an Advisory Board will be established consisting of a number of senior and well-qualified researchers, both national and international. The members of the Advisory Board will support the junior scientists in their academic careers. In addition, practitioners will be connected to the Academy in order to create a dialogue between academia and the practical legal world, as well as between senior researchers and junior researchers. The aim is to create a forum for discussion, which can lead to scientific results that may be of importance to society. Finally, in light of the fact that technological developments and the growth of information society has significantly influenced the development of intellectual property, multi-disciplinary approaches and collaboration between various disciplines, primarily in economy, technology and medicine, is of great importance. One of the Academy s aims will be to promote such inter-disciplinary collaborations. Marianne and Marcus Wallenberg Foundation finance the Academy during 2013-2016.
