Generell introduktion / General introduction 1.1 Egenskaper och fördelar / Features Gigaohm 1kV (MI3103) är ett portabelt, handhållet och batteriförsörjt instrument som testar elsäkerheten i en anläggning. Instrumentet är producerat av METREL. Som har många års erfarenhet att producera instrument för elinstallationers säkerhet etc. / The Gigaohm 1kV is a portable hand-held battery powered test instrument intended for testing of safety measures on mains installations. The equipment is designed and produced with the extensive knowledge and experience acquired through many years of dealing with electrical installation test equipment. Generella funktioner hos Gigaohm 1 kv. / General functions of the Gigaohm 1kV: - Isolationsresistansmätning. / Insulation resistance measurement, - Kontinuitetsresistansmätning med ±200 ma enligt standarden EN / Continuity measurement using test current of 200 ma in accordance with EN standard, - Kontinuitetsresistansmätning med 7 ma (testsummerfunktion) / Continuity measurement (continuous measurement) with test current of up to 7 ma, - Mäter lik- och växelspänning (AC/DC) / AC / DC voltage measurement. Egenskaper och fördelar / Features: - Isolationsresistansmätning med testspänning: 250, 500, eller 1000 VDC. / Insulation resistance test voltages: 250 V DC, 500 V DC, 1000 V DC. - Automatisk urladdning av mätobjektet efter test. / Automatic discharge of tested item after measurement completion, - Automatisk växling av testspänningens polaritet vid kontinuitetmätning ±200 ma. / Automatic test voltage polarity exchange in Continuity ± 200 ma function, - Rcon 7 ma kontinuitetstest för induktiva testobjekt. / Rcon 7 ma function for inductive test items. En specialdesignad teckenruta (LCD) ger tydlig visning av mätresultatet. Instrumentet är lätt att ställa in och lätt att använda. Läs igenom denna manual före användandet. Operation is simple and clear, the operator does not need any special training (except reading and understanding this User Manual) to operate the instrument. Beskrivning av instrumentet / Instrument description 2.1 Instrumentets hölje / Instrument casing Instrumenthöljet i plast ger elektriskt skydd enligt specifikationerna. / The instrument is housed in a plastic casing, which maintains the protection class defined in general specifications. 2.2 Instrumentets framsida (frontpanel) / Operator s panel Frontpanelen består av en teckenruta (LCD), inställningsvred samt tryck-knappar. / The operator s panel consists of a custom LCD, a rotary switch, and a keyboard, see the figure below. 5 Förklaringar / Legend: 1 Teckenruta (LCD) / Display 2 Inställningsvred för val av mätfunktion. / Rotary switch to select measurement function. 3 Framsidans etikett (skylt) / Front label 4 ON / OFF knapp. Automatiskt avstängning efter 10 minuters inaktivitet. / ON / OFF key. The instrument is automatically switched off if no action (changing rotary switch position or pressing any key) is taken for more than 10 minutes. 5 TEST knapp för att starta en mätning. / TEST key to start any measurement. 6 CAL knapp för nollkompensation av resistansen i mätsladdarna. / CAL key to compensate resistance of the test leads. 2.3 Anslutningar / Connectors Use original test accessories only! Max. allowed voltage between mains test termina and ground is 300 V! Max. allowed voltage between mains test termina is 600 V! Max. output voltage between test terminals is 12 Fig. 2. Varningar och meddelanden / Warnings and instrument messages 3.1 Varningar / Warnings För att erhålla högsta säkerhet för användaren samt undvika att instrumentet skadas: /In order to reach the highest level of operator s safety while carrying out various measurements and tests using the Gigaohm 1kV, as well as to ensure the test equipment remains undamaged, it is necessary to consider the following general warnings: Instrumentet får endast användas enligt manualen, i annat fall kan säkerheten åsidosättas. / If the test equipment is used in a manner not specified in this User Manual, the protection provided by the equipment may be impaired! Använd inte instrumentet eller mättillbehör som visar synliga skador. / Do not use the instrument and accessories if any damage is noticed! Om en säkring gått sönder följ instruktionerna i denna manual. / If fuse isservice eller kalibrering får endast utföras av TOLEKA AB. / Service intervention or adjustment procedure is allowed to be carried out only by a competent, authorised person! Använd allmänt säkerhetstänkande och försiktighetsåtgärder. / Consider all generally known precautions in order to avoid risk of electric shock while dealing with electrical installations! Använd endast mättillbehör som rekommenderats av TOLEKA AB. / Use only standard or optional test accessories supplied by your distributor! Anslut inte instrumentet till spänning som överstiger 600 V AC eller DC. / Do not connect test terminals to an external voltage higher than 600 V AC or DC in order not to damage the test instrument!! symbolen innebär att du måste läsa manualen noggrant. Du måste agera. /! symbol at the instrument means Read the User Manual with special care! The symbol requires an action!! symbol i teckenrutan (LCD) indikerar att mätobjektet har en ojämn spänning (är i dåligt skick) som kan orsaka farlig spänning etc. /! symbol on LCD indicates that the measurement results show an irregular condition of the item under test which may be present a hazardous live voltage. Ta loss mätsladdar samt stäng av instrumentet innan batteriluckan öppnas. / Disconnect all test leads and switch power off before opening battery cover! symbolen innebär att instrumentets testspänning kan överstiga 1000 V under isolationsprovningen. Var extra försiktig vid test på kapacitiva laster. / symbol means that the instrument output can be higher than 1000V during insulation test. Especially take care when measuring capacitive loads. 8

8 3.2 Instrumentmeddelanden och mätinformation / Instrument messages Meddelanden, mätvärden etc. skapas i teckenrutan med en kombination av symboler och numeriska tecken. Se nedan: / Messages are generated on the LCD using special symbols and numeric segment combinations. The next figure shows all possible display segments and the table under the figure describes the messages. Unit Fig. 4. 9 4. Mätningar / Measurements 4.1 Isolationsresistans / Insulation resistance Varningar! / Warnings! Se till att mätobjektet är spänningslöst innan du utför mätningen. / Make sure that the item to be tested is disconnected (mains voltage disconnected) before starting the insulation resistance measurement! Vid mätning mellan ledare. Frånskilj alla laster och slut ev. brytare så att hela kretsen mäts. Frånskilj elektroniska apparater. Bygla L-L-L-N om elektronik finns i kretsen. / When measuring insulation resistance between conductors, all loads must be disconnected and all switches closed! Berör ej mätobjektet under test. Farlig spänning kan förekomma. / Do not touch tested item while the test is in operation, risk of electric shock! Urladdning på ett kapacitivt laddat objekt (reaktiv effekt, långa sladdar) tar tid! Efter test visas ett minskande spänningsvärde i teckenrutan. Vidrör ej sladdarna eller mätobjektet förrän spänningen som visas understiger 30 V! Mätningen är slutförd när spänningen sjunkit under 8 V. / In case of capacitive test item (capacitive compensation of reactive power, long tested cable, etc.) automatic discharge of the item may not be done immediately after finishing the measurement. Falling voltage will be displayed in that case do not disconnect test leads until the voltage drops below 30 V! Measurement is finished when voltage drops below 8V. Följande bild visar anslutning till ett mätobjekt i en- eller trefasnät. Mätningen utförs mellan samtliga ledare. T.ex. Bygla L1, L2, L3, -N, L1, L2, L3, -PE samt N-PE. / The following figure shows connection of the instrument to the tested item for testing of insulation resistance on one and three phase electrical installations. The measurement should be carried out between all conductors. 10

Exempel på mätning av isolationsresistans mellan L och N. / Example of instrument connection for measuring Insulation resistance between L and N terminal För test på andra objekt som t.ex. motorer, lindningar, jordkabel, antistatiska golv eller väggar etc. se i boken Measurements on electric installations in theory and practice / There may be also other items to be tested such as motor windings, ground cables, antistatic floor coatings, walls, etc., see the booklet Measurements on electric installations in theory and practice. Hur du utför en mätning: / How to carry out the measurement: - Välj isolationsresistansfunktion med önskad testspänning med funktionsvredet. / Select Insulation resistance function using appropriate test voltage with the rotary switch knob. - Anslut mätsladdarna till objektet som skall testas. Se fig. 5 / Connect test leads to item to be tested in accordance with figure 5. - Tryck en gång på TEST-knappen och läs av isolationsresistansvärdet i teckenrutan. / Press the TEST key and read the displayed insulation resistance result. - Med en dubbeltryckning på TEST-knappen startar du en kontinuerlig mätning. Mätningen avslutas när TEST-knappen åter trycks in. Senaste mätvärdet visas. / A double press of TEST key starts the continuous measurement. The measurement is concluded after pressing TEST key again. The latest result will stay on the display.

Om spänning över 20 V AC/DC förekommer så utförs ingen mätning.! visas. / If an external voltage higher than 20 V AC/DC is present at the test terminals, the insulation resistance measurement will not be carried out after pressing START key. Symbol! will be displayed. Mätobjektet laddas automatiskt ur efter test och aktuell spänning visas (om hög kapacitans finns mellan mätsladdarna). / Tested item is discharged automatically after finishing the measurement and the actual voltage is displayed during discharge operation (only if high capacity is present on the test leads). Positiv pol av testspänningen visas på den röda anslutningen. / Positive pole of test voltage is attached to the red test terminal. 12

12 4.2 R ±200mA kontinuitetmätning på skydds- och potentialutjämningsledare. Kontinuitetsresistansen hos skyddsledare måste mätas innan spänning ansluts i en ny eller ombyggd elinstallation. Högsta resistansvärde beror på laster, nättyp (TN/TT) etc. / Continuity of protection conductors is to be measured before mains voltage is connected to the tested installation (new or adapted installation). Max. allowed resistance value depends on power of connected loads, used installation system (TN, TT), etc. En testström av lägst 200 ma krävs enligt standarden EN / Test current of at least 200 ma is required by the EN regulation which is why this function is to be used whenever tests are to be done in accordance with this standard. Varning! / Warning! Se till att mätobjektet är spänningslöst. Annars går säkringen i instrumentet. / Make sure that the tested item is de-energised (mains voltage disconnected) before starting the measurement! Fuse will blow if the test probes are connected to the mains voltage during the test. Hur du utför en mätning: /How to carry out the measurement: - Välj R ±200mA med funktionsvredet. / Select R ±200mA function with the rotary switch knob. - Nollkompensera mätsladdarna se kapitel 4.4. / Make sure test leads are compensated, see the instructions in the chapter Anslut mätsladdarna till mätobjektet enligt figur 7. / Connect test leads to the item to be tested in accordance with figure 7. - Tryck på TEST knappen och avläs resistansmätvärdet (ett lågt värde). / Press the TEST key and read the continuity resistance result - Med en dubbeltryckning på TEST-knappen startar du en kontinuerlig mätning. Mätningen avslutas när TEST-knappen åter trycks in. Senaste mätvärdet visas. / A double press of TEST key starts the continuous measurement. The measurement is concluded after pressing the TEST key again. The latest result will stay on the display.

14 4.3 Vanlig kontinuitettest med 7 ma (summerfunktion) i läge Rcon Rcon-funktionen används när induktiva laster skall testas som t.ex. motorer, lindningar, transformatorer etc En låg testström på 7 ma används. För mer information läs Measurements on electric installations in practice and theory / Rcon function is intended to be used when there are inductive loads to be tested, for example motor windings, transformers, etc, or if there is no need to follow prescribed standards. It can be used also as an ordinary multi-meter (resistance range). Test current of only up to 7 ma is used. For additional general information concerning continuity measurement, refer to the handbook Measurements on electric installations in practice and theory. Varning! / Warning! Se till att mätobjektet är spänningslöst. Annars går säkringen i instrumentet / Make sure the tested item is de-energised (mains voltage disconnected) before starting the measurement! Fuse will blow if the test probes are connected to mains voltage during the test. Hur du utför en mätning: / How to carry out the measurement: - Välj Rcon med funktionsvredet / Select Rcon function with the rotary switch knob. - Nollkompensera ev. mätsladdarna. Make sure the test leads are compensated. - Anslut mätsladdarna. / Connect test leads to tested item. - Tryck på TEST knappen, mätningen startar med en kontinuerlig mätning. / Press the TEST key, measurement starts to run continuously. - Tryck på TEST knappen igen, mätningen avbryts och senaste mätvärdet visas. / Press the TEST key again to stop the measurement. 15 4.4 Nollkompensering av mätsladdarna / Compensation of test leads resistance För att uppnå en hög noggrannhet av mätresultatet rekommenderar vi att du nollkompenserar mätsladdarna före du utför en kontinuitetsmätning med R ±200mA eller Rcon. TOLEKA rekommenderar nollkompensering även när du byter mätsladdar. Nollkompensationen lagras i instrumentet och används för både R ±200mA och Rcon. / In order to achieve high accuracy of test results it is advised to compensate resistance of the test leads before carrying out R ±200mA and Rcon measurements. Especially it is advised to compensate test leads whenever the leads are changed for different ones. Compensation of test leads resistance is stored and is used for both R ±200mA and Rcon functions. Hur du nollkompenserar mätsladdarna: / How to compensate test leads: - Välj R ±200mA eller Rcon med funktionsvredet. / Select R ±200mA or Rcon function with the rotary switch. - Kortslut mätsladdarna. / Short the test leads. - Tryck på CAL knappen. CAL visas i teckenrutan därefter visas 0,00 Ω. Mätsladdarna är nu kompenserade och instrumentet är nu klart för att mäta. Summerton (pip-pip) ljuder för att konfirmera att sladdarna är kompenserade. / Press the CAL key, the message CAL is displayed for a while then 0.00 Ω is displayed. Resistance of test leads is now compensated and the instrument is ready for measurements. A confirmation sound indicates that the new calibration values were accepted successfuly. Observera / Note Högsta värde som kan nollkompenseras är 5 Ω. Om det totala uppmätta resistansvärdet överstiger 5 Ω så ignoreras nollkompenseringen. / Max. resistance that can be compensated is 5 Ω. If total measured resistance is higher than 5 Ω (e.g. open test leads) then any compensation previously stored is ignored. Nollkompensationsvärdet kvarstår tills nästa nollkompensering utförs. / Compensation remains valid until next compensation or until compensation is cancelled (e.g. by performing the compensation at open test leads). Indikering som visar att mätsladdarna är nollkompenserade. / Indications that the test leads are compensated - CAL visas en kort stund när R ±200mA eller Rcon väljs med funktionsvalsvredet. / The message CAL for compensated test leads is displayed for a while when setting R ±200mA or Rcon with rotary switch. 16

16 4.4 Spänningsmätning / Voltage measurement Hur du utför en mätning: / How to carry out the measurement: - Välj VOLTAGE med funktionsvredet. / Select VOLTAGE function with the rotary switch knob. - Anslut mätsladdarna till objektet. / Connect test leads to equipment under test. - Avläs mätresultatet se nedan. / Read displayed result (Voltage), see the figure below. Anslut ej till en spänning som överstiger 600 VAC (instrumentet kan gå sönder). / Do not connect test leads to a voltage higher than 600 V AC, to avoid possible damage of the instrument! Underhåll / Maintenance 5.1 Inspektion / Inspection För att säkerställa användarens säkerhet och instrumentets tillförlitlighet så är det viktigt att inspektera instrumentet med tillbehör regelbundet. Trasiga delar måste bytas ut. Ta kontakt med TOLEKA AB. / To maintain operator s safety and ensure reliability of the instrument it is good practice to inspect the instrument on a regular basis. Check that the instrument and accessories are not damaged. If any defect is found please consult service centre, distributor or manufacturer. 5.2 Byte av batteri / Battery replacement Symbolen BAT visas i teckenrutans nedre högra. Den visar batterispänning <4.5 V. Byt batterier snarast för att erhålla rätt mätvärden. Instrumentet stängs automatiskt av när batterispänningen understiger 4,2 V, efter det att bat först visats i teckenrutan. / The symbol BAT on the lower right corner of the LCD indicates the battery state (Ubat < 4.5 V). If a low battery state is indicated the batteries must be replaced to ensure accurate measurements. The instrument is switched off automatically when battery voltage drops down to 4.2 V, bat indication is displayed before switching off. Observera! / Notes! Alla fyra batterier måste bytas ut samtidigt. / All four cells shall be replaced each time.! Stäng av instrumentet och ta bort alla mätsladdar etc. innan du öppnar luckan. /! Turn power off and disconnect any measurement accessory connected to the instrument before opening battery cover. Nominell spänning är 6 VDC. Använd fyra 1,5 V alkaline batterier LR14. (50x ø26 mm). / Nominal power supply voltage is 6 V DC. Use four 1.5 V alkaline cells, type IEC LR14 (dimensions: diameter = 26 mm, height = 50 mm). 18

Sätt in batterierna med rätt polaritet annars kan batterierna laddas ur och instrumentet fungerar ej. Se bilden ovanför. / Insert cells correctly, otherwise test instrument will not operate and battery could be discharged, see the figure above for correct battery polarity! Ta ur batterierna om instrumentet ej skall användas under en längre tid. / If the instrument is not to be used for a long period of time remove all batteries from the battery compartment. Varning! / Warnings! Följ gällande rekommendationer och miljöaspekter för använda batterier. / Take into account handling, maintenance and recycling requirements as defined by related standards and manufacturer of alkaline batteries. 5.3 Byte av säkring / Fuse replacement Instrumentet är försedd med en säkring för att skydda i funktionerna R±200mA och Rcon. Denna kan lösas ut om extern spänning anslutits till instrumentet. Se fig. 16. / The instrument contains a fuse to protect R±200mA and Rcon functions. The fuse can blow if an external voltage is connected to the test terminals during the measurement. See the fig. 16. for fuse location.

19 Varning / Warning! Byt ut säkringen mot en identisk (M0.315A) annars kan instrumentet gå sönder. / Replace blown fuse with prescribed one only (M0.315A) otherwise the instrument may be damaged.! Stäng av instrumentet och ta bort alla mätsladdar etc. innan du öppnar luckan /! Turn power off and disconnect any measurement accessory connected to the instrument before opening battery cover. 5.4 Rengöring / Cleaning Använd en mjuk tygtrasa fuktad med vatten och svagt rengöringsmedel eller sprit. / Use a soft cloth slightly moistened with soapy water or spirit to clean the surface of the instrument and leave the instrument to dry totally, before using it. Obs! / Notes! Använd inte rengöringsmedel baserade på olje/bensin eller hydrokarbonater. / Do not use liquids based on petrol or hydrocarbons! Spill ej rengöringsvätska/vatten/sprit på instrumentet. / Do not spill cleaning liquid over the instrument! 5.5 Service / Service Reparationer, service och kalibrering får endast utföras av TOLEKA AB. / Repairs under or out of warranty time: Please contact your distributor for further information. OBS! / Note! Ej auktoriserad personal får ej öppna instrumentet. / Unauthorised person is not allowed to open the instrument! 20
