MVC V3.0 Manual Status 25..1999 1. Function MVC enables an MVC 00 and MVC 2000 to be set and calibrated. The changes are carried out directly in the connected controller. In addition, the control parameters can be saved to the PC and loaded from the PC onto the controller. 2. Requirements The program runs under MS-DOS, Version 3.0 and above. An MVC00 or MVC2000 must be connected to the serial interface "COM1:". If the program is to be operated via a mouse or similar pointing device, the relevant mouse-driver must be loaded onto MS-DOS beforehand. The program also works under Windows 3.1, Windows 95/98 und Windows NT. The interface "COM1:" must not be used by the mouse or other devices. 3. Starting the Program The MVC program is started under the MS-DOS operating system by typing "MVC_V30E". After the program is started the following screen appears By clicking on Yes or pressing the "Y" key, you can now call up the help screen. The help screen can also be called up at any time by selecting "Help" from the menu options. The help screen is described in chapter 4.5. Page 3
MVC V3.0 Manual Status 25..1999 4. Operation The program is operated via a windows-orientated user interface, similar to Windows. The menu bar is found at the top of the screen: There are five menu options or sub-menus: Parameters Calibration Operating status Error status Help The required menu is selected by pressing the highlighted letter and the "ALT"-button. (e.g. ALT+P ). The corresponding menu will then appear. Within the menu, the individual menu options are selected, either with the cursor keys and the return key, or by typing the highlighted letter. You can also operate the system with a mouse, by simply clicking on the required menu option. 4.1. Parameter menu option This menu has 4 menu options: Load Save Edit Print Page 4
MVC V3.0 Manual Status 25..1999 4.1.1. Parameters/Loading With this function the parameters are loaded from a file and transferred to the MVCcontroller. After calling up the menu option, a dialogue box appears for selecting a file. You can type in the required file name or select it from the displayed list. The default setting is the file name "PARA.DAT". If you wish to use this file, all you need to do is press the return key. 4.1.2. Parameters/Saving With this function, the parameters are transferred from the MVC-controller to the PC and saved in a file. The file is selected in the same way as for loading. Before the parameters are saved, another dialogue window appears, in which additional information on parameter settings can be entered. This information is also saved in the parameter file. Page 5
MVC V3.0 Manual Status 25..1999 4.1.3. Parameters/Editing With this function, the parameters are transferred from the MVC-controller to the PC and displayed in a dialogue box. In this box, the individual parameters can be selected and changed using the tab keys. With an MVC 00 the increase in motor speed and the function cannot be changed. If the box is closed with "Ok" or the return key, the changed settings will be transferred to the MVC-controller. The parameters are given as a percentage and are described in full below: Max. value Lift, Lower, Tilt Forwards/wards These define the maximum control of the proportional valve. The control characteristics are displayed in the following graph: valve control 0% max. value 0% 0% joystick Page 6
MVC V3.0 Manual Status 25..1999 Turn, push ramps The initial and the final value, as well as the time, for the ramps are set. The time is derived from the input factor multiplied by 50 ms. The respective ramps are gone through according to the following graph: valve control 0% final value start value 0% t (*50ms) time Lowering stop With this parameter the braking process for stopping the lowering is set. There are 3 possible settings: soft, medium, hard. With "hard", the stop is immediate, with "soft" the stop occurs via a ramp (350ms for 0% breaking), which results in a very slight jerk. By entering "medium" a 150 ms ramp is used. Note: The percentage figure of the current for the proportional solenoid refers to the active part of the I/Q-graph. Qmax Q 0% 0% I 4.1.4. Parameters/Printing With this function a saved parameter setting can be printed. The printer must be connected to the port LPT1:. Page 7
MVC V3.0 Manual Status 25..1999 4.2. Calibration menu option This menu has only one menu option: Zero setting With this function, the zero setting of the joystick can be re-set. An additional confirmation message appears: Page 8
MVC V3.0 Manual Status 25..1999 4.3. Operating status menu option This function indicates the actual status of the system on the screen. To exit this display, press any key or click with the mouse anywhere on the screen. Warning: This function is not available if the MVC-controller is waiting for the activation key to be pressed. In this case, the function must be exited and then after clearing the controller, the function can be called up again. After calling up the function, the following display appears: The top left section displays the actuated switching contacts of the joystick. The top centre section displays the actual position of the joystick potentiometer. (In the above example the joystick is positioned halfway back). The top right section displays the requirement on the proportional valve for the function in question. (In the above example the tilt function requires a 20% control of the proportional valve). The bottom left section displays which of the 8 switching valves are switched at the current time and in the bottom centre section indicates at what percentage the two proportional valves are triggered. Right at the bottom centre the actual rpm figure is displayed. In the bottom right section the actual supply voltage is displayed. Page 9
MVC V3.0 Manual Status 25..1999 4.4. Error status menu option With this the actual error status of the MVC can be called up and re-set. 4.5. Help menu option This calls up the help screen. With the "Page Up" and "Page Down" keys you can scroll within the help screen, with the "Esc" key you can exit the help screen. 5. Exiting the program To exit the MVC program press the key combination ALT+X. Page
