Program Face in Focus 2-4 september 2009 Onsdag den 2 september Kära föreningsmedlemmar, vänner och kollegor Det är med stor glädje och förväntan vi inbjuder till Visby och Svenska Ortodontiföreningens och Svensk Käkkirurgisk Förenings gemensamma möte den 2-4 september 2009. Senast vi hade ett gemensamt möte var i Tällberg 2001. På Gotland fanns först en man som hette Tjelvar. Då var Gotland så förtrollat att det om dagen sjönk i havet och om nätterna stod uppe. Men denne man bar först eld till landet och sedan sjönk det aldrig. Så berättar Gutesagan, en gotländsk historia som skrevs ned på 1200-talet. För många ter sig ön ännu förtrollad och oändligt rik på minnen från det förgångna. För 400 miljoner år sedan började öns historia. Den gotländska kalkberggrunden byggdes upp av lämningarna efter otaliga organismer. Ännu finns spåren av förstenade snäckor, bläckfiskar och utdöda havsdjur. Tjelvar, eller de första stenåldersmänniskorna, kom för ungefär 7000 år sedan och har lämnat talrika spår från sina boplatser. Från Gotlands tidiga historia finns minnen runt om på ön. Storrösen och skeppssättningar längs kusterna berättar om en befolkning med skeppet som viktig maktfaktor under bronsåldern. Mängder av gravfält, husgrunder, fornborgar och bildstenar från järnålder och vikingatid ger Gotland en särställning i Sverige. Att åka till Gotland är som att åka utomlands fast man fortfarande befinner sig i vårt eget land. I slutet av sommaren brukar vädret vara stabilt med ljumma kvällar beroende på att det omgivande havet fortfarande är uppvärmt. Vi har försökt att finna programpunkter som angår oss både gemensamt och var för sig och hoppas att ni ska finna det vetenskapliga programmet så väl som de sociala aktiviteterna intressanta och lärorika. Mötet äger rum på Wisby Strand Congress & Event Gotland som ligger alldeles vid havet mitt i Visby med en betagande utsikt. Organisationskommittén har härmed nöjet att invitera alla till ett förhoppningsvis varmt och soligt Gotland där vi bland annat ska få veta betydelsen av ansiktsestetik, få lära oss om behandlingsplanering vid kirurgisk och ortopedisk behandling av prenormala bett samt få veta den senaste utvecklingen när det gäller distraktionskirurgi. Vi inbjuder också till välkomstmingel på Clarion Hotell Wisby och middag på Wisby Strand Congress som i likhet med luncher och kaffe ingår i kongressavgiften. Medico-legal training and experience: Attendance at courses organized by Bond Salon, AvMa and the BPS. I have accepted instructions and prepared reports since 1987. I now receive approximately 150 new instructions each year. Approximately 80% are for the Claimant, 10% are for the Defendant and 10% as a Single Joint Expert. I have given oral evidence in court on several occasions, and have regularly attended conferences with Counsel. Lectures I have been invited to lecture on health psychology issues on numerous occasions to meetings of professional organisations including those of plastic and orthopedic surgeons, maxillo-facial and oral surgeons, ophthalmic surgeons, therapists (physio-, OT and Speech), dermatologists, orthodontists and, psychologists. I have also presented scientific papers to such professional scientific meetings on a regular basis. These lectures and scientific papers have been presented at meeting are in the UK and overseas, in different European countries., in the United States and in South Africa. In addition I am regularly invited to speak to patient and parent support groups, in the UK and overseas. Within the UK, I have also been invited to lecture on the psychological consequences of personal injury and clinical negligence to meetings of barristers, solicitors, surgeons and psychologists. The media I am regularly approached by the media and give interviews on a regular basis to all branches of the media. My work has been the subject of various TV and radio programmes. PROFESSOR JOHAN P REYNEKE TIZIANO BACCETTI D.D.S., Ph.D. Johan Reyneke qualified as a Maxillofacial and Oral Surgeon at the University of Pretoria in 1979 and has since been in private practise in Johannesburg. He never broke his link with the academics and has been an active part time member of the Department of Maxillofacial and Oral Surgery at the University of Witwatersrand where he received a honorary Professorship in 1990. He has since been appointed Clinical Professor in the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Oklahoma as well as the University of Florida, Gainesville, U.S.A. and he is Director of the Centre for Orthognathic Surgery at Sunninghill Hospital, Sunninghill. Johan obtained his PhD at the University of Tampere, Finland in March 2006. He is a member of the Craniofacial Unit at the Faculty of Health Sciences, University of the Witwatersrand. Johan has a passion for Orthognathic and Reconstructive facial surgery and has presented numerous courses and papers and published extensively locally as well as internationally. He has published several books on orthognathic surgery and the most recent book Essentials of Orthognathic Surgery was published in March 2003. A series of International courses, Orthognathic Surgery occlusion and beyond is being presented by him at the moment in countries such as Italy, Spain, Brazil, Korea, Denmark, Israel and U.S.A. He was invited to be the keynote speaker on Orthognathic Surgery at the International Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon in Bangalore, India in 2007. He has a busy private practice and has performed more than 7000 orthognathic surgical procedures over the last 28 years. He served as President of the South African Society of Maxillofacial and Oral Surgeons from 1994 to 1998 and is the President of the College of Maxillofacial and Oral Surgeons of South Africa. He spends his leisure time on art, golf and tennis. Tiziano Baccetti was born in Florence, Italy, January 7, 1966. He is presently Research Professor at the University of Florence, Italy, and Thomas M. Graber Visiting Scholar, Department of Orthodontics and Pediatric Dentistry, School of Dentistry, The University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. From 1996 he holds a PhD degree in Dental Sciences at the University of Florence, Italy, and he has been the winner of the Prize for the Best Poster in Orthodontic Research (First Classified, shared with Dr. Franchi) issued by the Italian Society Of Orthodontics (SIDO), in 1994, and (Second Classified, shared with Dr. Franchi) in 1995. In 1996 he has won the National Prize of the Italian Society Of Orthodontics (SIDO) for the best scientific article. In 2001 Dr. Baccetti has been the recipient of the Henry Goldman Prize issued by the Italian Society of Periodontology, and of the Research Award of The Angle Society for the best paper published on The Angle Orthodontist during the years 2001-2003. He has been Speaker at the Annual Sessions of the American Association of Orthodontists, U.S.A., for the last 12 years. He has lectured at international congresses and symposia on orthodontics and dentofacial orthopedics in more than 30 different countries. He has been published extensively in the American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics, in the Angle Orthodontist, and in the European Journal of Orthodontics. Dr. Baccetti is a member of the Italian Society of Orthodontics (S.I.D.O.), Italian Society of Pediatric Dentistry (S.I.O.I.), Club International de Morphologie Faciale, European Orthodontic Society (EOS), and World Federation of Orthodontists (W.F.O.).

He currently coordinates a multidisciplinary research programme on craniofacial anomalies for the European Commission, and the clinical section of a WHO programme on craniofacial anomalies. He is joint coordinating editor of the Cochrane Collaboration Oral Health Group. Mötet 2009 genomförs i kongressanläggningen Wisby Strand alldeles intill strandpromenaden, Almedalen och hamnen. Logi: För konferensens räkning har PCO Gotland bokat ett antal logianläggningar i centrala Visby. Samtliga logialternativ ligger på ett bekvämt avstånd till kongresshallen Wisby Strand, d.v.s. 10-15 minuters promenad. För att erhålla erbjudna reducerade priser måste bokning ske genom PCO Gotland.
