Green papers and white papers Green papers and white papers Green papers are discussion papers published by the Commission on a specific policy area. White papers are documents containing proposals for Community action in a specific area. http://europa.eu/documents/comm/index_en.htm
Experiences so far ICT in FP7 Three main Calls for proposals (+ FET Open + Joint Call Sec) in 2007-08 ~ 2.1 B of EU funding, ~ 3000 proposal received ~ 1500 above threshold ~ 500 projects launched HIGHLY COMPETITIVE!
What does it take to win? Convincing partnership Adaptation towards the evaluation criteria Communicatable goals that sell the proposal on the political level
Evaluator experience What not to do Address more than one challenge Set broad, ambitious, unachievable objectives Include redundant partners Impact = a conference each year, a public website and x published papers Buzzwords, empty statements
Evaluator experience What to do Study the Workprogramme Set focussed, realistic objectives and show how they will be achieved Consortium to include all stakeholders Good impact * good research = winner Write for informed non-specialist
