Horizon 2020 Not just another research programme Contributing to overcome the economic and financial crisis create growth and new jobs Open Innovation, Open Science, Open to the World Take into account the population's concerns over security, safety and environment Strengthen Europe's position in research, innovation and technology

Industry 2020 in the Circular Economy This focus area is at the heart of how Horizon 2020 contributes to sustainably boosting economic growth and renewing Europe's industrial capacities in a world of finite resources. Actions will support the goals outlined in the Communications Towards a circular economy: A zero waste programme for Europe and European Industrial Renaissance, and are in line with the Commission's new Roadmap for a Circular Economy Strategy. Internet of Things Internet of Things - Focus Area (IoT- FA) ambition is to foster the take up of IoT in Europe and to enable the emergence of IoT ecosystems supported by open technologies and platforms. It will be addressed through a complementary set of activities structured around Large Scale Pilots Smart and Sustainable Cities Key challenges for Smart and Sustainable Cities are to provide solutions to significantly increase the overall energy and resource efficiency of cities particularly through actions addressing the building stock, energy systems and mobility and transport, and to mitigate and adapt to climate change, reducing risks from climate change related natural hazards and enhancing water and air quality. Actions of this kind will have profound economic, social and environmental impacts, resulting in a better quality of life (including health and social cohesion), competitiveness, jobs and growth as well as a healthy environment.
H2020 new approach Consequences for actors Follow and be aware of EU policy/strategy Involve other actors, e.g. users in the projects - local authorities/actors Partnerships programmes important to be active in relevant platforms and other groups Higher Technology Readiness Levels focus on innovation industrial partners research institutes Public procurement will mean involvement of different kinds of public bodies.. Consequence: researchers need to develop relevant networks regional actors Bild 17

H2020 WP 2018-19/20 The Horizon 2020 Programme strongly supports the three strategic priorities Digitalisering Open innovation is about combining diverse sources of knowledge to innovate, underpinned by networked, multi-collaborative innovation systems and involving researchers, entrepreneurs, investors, users, governments and civil society. Favouring Open innovation means encouraging the capitalisation of results from European research and innovation. Open Science includes moving forward on the need for more open access to research results and the underlying data. It also means the need for new initiatives to strengthen research integrity for policy makers, research funders, research institutions and researchers. Globalisering Open to the World means to engage more in science diplomacy and in global scientific and technological collaboration to remain relevant and competitive, and to lead the way in developing global research and innovation partnerships to address global challenges.
