Safety Warnings GB Read all the instructions carefully before using the unit and keep them for future reference. Retain the manual. If you pass the unit onto a third party make sure to include this manual. Check that the voltage marked on the rating label matches your mains voltage. Damage Please inspect the unit for damage after unpacking. Do not continue to operate the unit if you are in any doubt about it working normally, or if it is damaged in any way - switch off, unplug from the mains socket and consult your dealer. Location of Unit The unit must be placed on a flat stable surface and not subjected to vibrations. Do not place the unit on sloped or unstable surfaces as the unit may fall off or tip over. The mains socket must be located near the unit and should be easily accessible. Temperature Avoid extreme degrees of temperature, either hot or cold. Place the unit well away from heat sources such as radiators or gas / electric fires. Avoid exposure to direct sunlight and other sources of heat. Naked Flames Never place any type of candle or naked flame on the top of or near the unit. Moisture To reduce the risk of fire, electric shock or product damage, do not expose this unit to rain, moisture, dripping or splashing. No objects filled with liquids, such as vases, should be placed on the unit. Do not operate the unit with wet hands, near water or other liquid. If you spill any liquid into the unit, it can cause serious damage. Switch it off at the mains immediately. Withdraw the mains plug and consult your dealer. Ventilation To prevent the risk of electric shock or fire hazard due to overheating, ensure that curtains and other materials do not obstruct the ventilation vents. A minimum distance of 5cm around the unit should be maintained to allow for sufficient ventilation. Do not install or place this unit in a bookcase, built-in cabinet or in another confined space. Ensure the unit is well ventilated. Safety Always disconnect the unit from the mains supply before connecting / disconnecting other devices or moving the unit. Unplug the unit from the mains socket during a lightning storm. In the interests of safety and to avoid unnecessary energy consumption, never leave the unit switched on while unattended for long periods of time, e.g. overnight, while on holiday or while out of the house. Switch it off and disconnect the mains plug from the mains socket. Mains Adapter Cable Make sure the unit or unit stand is not resting on top of the mains adapter cable, as the weight of the unit may damage the cable and create a safety hazard. Mains Adapter The mains adapter will continue to draw electricity from the mains supply when plugged in the mains socket. In the interests of safety and to avoid unnecessary energy consumption, never leave the adapter plugged in the mains socket while unattended for long periods of time. Disconnect the adapter from the power supply. Interference Do not place the unit on or near appliances which may cause electromagnetic interference. If you do, it may adversely affect the working performance of the unit, and cause a distorted sound. Earphones Listening to loud sounds for prolonged periods of time may permanently damage your hearing. Before putting on earphones, turn the volume down then put the earphones on and slowly increase the volume until you reach a comfortable listening level. Batteries Batteries used in the unit are easily swallowed by young children and this is dangerous. Keep loose batteries away from young children and make sure that the battery holder tray is secure in the unit. Seek medical advice if you believe a cell has been swallowed. Please dispose of batteries correctly by following the guidance in this manual. Do not expose the battery to direct sunlight or sources of excessive heat. Supervision Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the unit. Never let anyone especially children push anything into the holes, slots or any other openings in the case - this could result in a fatal electric shock. 6

Service To reduce the risk of electric shock, do not remove screws. The unit does not contain any user-serviceable parts. Please leave all maintenance work to qualified personnel. Do not open any fixed covers as this may expose dangerous voltages. Maintenance Ensure to unplug the unit from the power supply before cleaning. 12 Connecting to the Mains Supply GB This unit is designed to operate with an AC power supply or with the built-in battery. Unwind the mains adapter cable to its full length. Connect the end of the cable to the DC IN 12V 1A Socket at the rear of the unit and then connect the mains adapter to the mains socket. Make sure the mains adapter is firmly inserted into the mains socket. It starts battery charging and the unit is now ready to use. Charge the internal battery for 12 hours before first time use. Do not overcharge the unit. The unit will automatically charge battery when unit connected to mains socket, and it will automatically stop charging once the battery fully charged. Once the unit connected to mains socket, the main unit will use mains power automatically. 22

12 Using Earphones Turn down the volume before connecting the earphones. Slowly raise the volume with the earphones on until you reach your desired volume. When earphones are connected, the speakers automatically mutes. GB Long-term exposure to loud music may cause hearing damage. It is best to avoid extreme volume when using earphones, especially for extended periods of time. 23

Basic Operation GB Switching ON/OFF While using battery power:. Press to switch the unit on. Press again to switch the unit off. While using mains power: Press to switch the unit on. Press again to switch the unit in Standby mode. To switch the unit off completely, unplug the power adapter from the mains socket. Adjusting the Volume Turn the TUNE/VOLUME dial clockwise/anticlockwise to increase/decrease the volume. Language 1. Press MENU button and then turn the SCROLL/SELECT dial to select <Language>. Press SCROLL/SELECT dial to confirm. 2. Turn SCROLL/SELECT dial to select the desired language. Press SCROLL/SELECT dial to confirm. Factory Reset 1. Press MENU button and then turn the SCROLL/SELECT dial to select <Factory Reset>. Press SCROLL/SELECT dial to confirm. 2. Turn SCROLL/SELECT dial to select <YES>. Press SCROLL/SELECT dial to confirm. After the factory reset, all the tuned stations, DAB/FM preset stations will be erased. 24 Software Version 1. Press MENU button and then turn the SCROLL/SELECT dial to select <SW version>. Press SCROLL/SELECT dial to confirm. 2. Press MENU to exit.

DAB Operation When you turn on the radio it will automatically search and store all the available stations. You may conduct an additional Full Scan to ensure all stations are picked up and stored. It is also recommended every few months to run a new scan to pick up any new DAB/DAB+ that may have begun broadcasting after your radio scanned last time. 1. For initial use, your radio will conduct a full scan and store stations list in memory. 2. Once the scanning is completed, the DAB/DAB+ stations will be displayed in alphanumeric order. The first station in the list will be selected. GB The DAB/DAB+ stations will be displayed and stored in alphanumeric order. If no DAB/DAB+ signal is found, it may be necessary for you to relocate your radio. The clock will be updated automatically if you can receive DAB/FM signal in your location. In order to synchronize to the current local time, you must leave it on the DAB/FM station for a period of time. Full Scan This feature enables your radio to scan for all available stations in DAB mode. Press MENU and then turn the SCROLL/SELECT dial to <Full scan>, press SCROLL/SELECT dial to confirm. 25

GB Manual Scan This function is for advanced users only. Stations are selected from the station list. Manual scan enables you to tune to each multiplex channel, check if a multiplex is present and measure the signal strength. 1. Press MENU button, and then turn the SCROLL/SELECT dial to select <Manual tune>, then press SCROLL/SELECT button to confirm. The display will switch to read multiplex channel number and frequency. 2. Turn the SCROLL/SELECT dial to select through the channel numbers, and then press SCROLL/SELECT button to tune to the displayed channel number. If there is a multiplex on this channel, the multiplex name will be shown. A signal strength bar will be displayed. 3. To playing the station, first press MENU button to exit manual tune. Manual Tuning 1. While in ON mode, press MENU to display the menu. 2. Turn the SCROLL/SELECT dial to select <Auto select>, then press SCROLL/SELECT to confirm. 3. Turn the SCROLL/SELECT dial to select between <Enable> or <Disable>. Press SCROLL/SELECT to confirm. If <Enable> is selected, press TUNE/VOLUME button to select <Tune>. Turn the SCROLL/SELECT dial to select your desired station. If <Disable> is selected, press TUNE/VOLUME button to select <Tune>. Turn the SCROLL/SELECT dial to select your desired station. Press SCROLL/ SELECT dial to confirm. Viewing Station Information It is possible to view the information that is displayed on the display when listening to a DAB/DAB+ program by pressing the INFO Button repeatedly. The display will show the information through Scrolling text, Signal strength, Program Type, Ensemble, Frequency, Signal quality, Bitrate and Codec, Format, Time and Date. 26

Showing Signal Strength While you selected Signal strength, a signal bar with the strength of the current station will show on the display. The indicator on the signal bar shows the minimum acceptable signal level. 12 00 6 Music Strength of signal Minimum signal level GB Stations with signal strength below the minimum signal level may not provide a steady stream of audio. Storing Preset Stations This is the same for DAB/DAB+ and FM stations. Your radio can store up to 10 of your favourite DAB/DAB+ stations as preset stations. This will enable you to access your favourite stations quickly and easily. While a station is playing, you can: Press and hold one of preset buttons 1/6, 2/7, 3/8, 4/9 or 5/10 until display shows <Preset 1/2/3/4/5 stored>. Press SHIFT button and then press and hold one of preset buttons 1/6, 2/7, 3/8, 4/9 or 5/10 until display shows <Preset 6/7/8/9/10 stored>. Recalling Preset Stations 1. Press MODE button to select the DAB mode. 2. Press one of preset buttons 1/6, 2/7, 3/8, 4/9 or 5/10 to broadcast to the preset station 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5. 3. Press SHIFT button and then press one of preset buttons 1/6, 2/7, 3/8, 4/9 or 5/10 to broadcast the preset station 6, 7, 8, 9 or 10. 27

FM Operation GB Selecting FM Mode 1. Press MODE button repeatedly to select FM mode. 2. For initial use, it will start at the beginning of the FM frequency range (87.50MHz). Or it will play the last FM station you were listening to. 3. To manually change the FM frequency, make sure no other order/ system setting is going on. Press TUNE button and then turn SCROLL/ SELECT dial to change the frequency by 0.05MHz per step. 4. To automatically scan, while FM frequency shows up, press TUNE button and then turn SCROLL/SELECT dial. Press SCROLL/SELECT dial to confirm. Your radio will skip forwards or backwards until it reached the next available station. The clock will be updated automatically if you can receive DAB/FM signal in your location. In order to synchronize to the current local time, you must leave it on the DAB/FM station for a period of time. Scan Setting This is a scanning option to scan all stations, or just scan stations with strong signal. 1. Press MENU and then turn the SCROLL/SELECT dial to select <Scan setting>. Press SCROLL/SELECT to confirm. 2. Turn the SCROLL/SELECT dial to select <All stations> or <Strong stations only>. Press SCROLL/SELECT to confirm. Audio Setting By default, all stereo stations are reproduced in stereo. For weak stations, this may result in a poor signal-to-noise ratio (hiss). 1. To play weak stations in mono, press MENU button, and then turn SCROLL/SELECT dial to select <Audio setting>, press SCROLL/ SELECT dial to confirm. 2. Turn SCROLL/SELECT dial to browse <Forced mono>, and then press SCROLL/SELECT dial to confirm. 28

The unit will automatically switch between stereo and mono when <Stereo allowed> is selected depending on the signal strength, but you can override this and switch this function manually. This is helpful when receiving poor signal reception. Viewing Station Information It is possible to view the information that is displayed on the display when listening to a FM program by pressing the INFO Button repeatedly. The display will show the information through Radio Text, Program Type, Program Name, Audio Info, Time and Date. GB Presetting Stations This is the same for DAB/DAB+ and FM stations. Bluetooth Operation GB The unit has a Bluetooth function that can receive a signal within 10 metres. Pair the unit with a Bluetooth device to listen to music: 1. Press MODE button repeatedly to select Bluetooth mode. 2. The display will show <Bluetooth discoverable...>. 3. Activate your Bluetooth device and select the search mode. 4. Explorer E7 will appear on your Bluetooth device. 5. Select Explorer E7 and enter 0000 for the password if necessary. 6. <BT connected: Your Bluetooth Device> will show on the display when connection is successful. 7. To disconnect current Bluetooth connection, press and hold PAIR button. 8. To connect to another paired Bluetooth device, press PAIR button repeatedly to select the Bluetooth device you want to connect. Press SCROLL/SELECT button to confirm connecting. The unit will automatically switch to standby mode (running by Main power) or off (running by Battery power) after 10 minutes if the source device is disconnect, switch off or the volume is too close to mute. NFC (Near Field Communication) NFC enables you pair and connect with Bluetooth devices in a easy way. 1. Press MODE button repeatedly to select Bluetooth mode. 2. Make sure that your NFC is turned On on your mobile device. 3. Hold your mobile device about 2cm close to NFC sensor on the left side of unit for receiving an auto-connection between your mobile device and radio. 4. Your device then will turn-on Bluetooth automatically and will pair your device with radio. No additional settings are necessary. 30

AUX IN Mode The AUX IN mode allows for quick and easy connection to an MP3 player or other external audio sources. 1. Before connecting to the mains socket, use a 3.5 mm audio cable (not included) to connect to your external audio device through the AUX IN Socket on the rear side of the unit. 2. Connect power adapter to mains socket, press button to switch unit on. 3. Press MODE button repeatedly to select <Auxiliary Input> (AUX IN) mode. 4. In AUX IN mode, you may operate your audio device directly for playback features. 5. To gain optimal volume levels, adjusting the output volume level on the audio device as well is recommended. The unit will automatically switch to standby mode (running by Main power) or off (running by Battery power) after 10 minutes if the source device is disconnect, switch off or the volume is too close to mute. System Settings GB Setting Sleep This function enables your unit to switch to standby mode by itself after a set sleep time when unit runs by mains power. 1. Press MENU button, and then turn the SCROLL/SELECT dial to select <Sleep>. Press SCROLL/SELECT dial to confirm. 2. Turn the SCROLL/SELECT dial to view options: Sleep off, 15, 30, 45, 60 or 90 minutes. Select Sleep off and then press the SCROLL/SELECT dial to confirm. Sleep function will be switched off. 3. Turn the SCROLL/SELECT dial to select 15, 30, 45, 60 or 90 minutes. Press the SCROLL/SELECT dial to confirm. The sleep icon will show on the display. To view the set sleep time, redo above step 1. Setting Equaliser This feature enables you to set a sound equalization profile. The equalization setting will change the tone of the sound from your radio. 1. Press MENU button, and then turn the SCROLL/SELECT dial to select <Equaliser>. Press the SCROLL/SELECT dial to confirm. 2. Turn the SCROLL/SELECT dial to browse through Treble and Bass, and then press the SCROLL/SELECT dial to confirm. 3. Turn the SCROLL/SELECT dial to set the level of Treble and Bass, and then press the SCROLL/SELECT dial to confirm. 32

Setting Time 1. Press MENU button, and then turn the SCROLL/SELECT dial to select <Time>. Press the SCROLL/SELECT dial to confirm. 2. Turn the SCROLL/SELECT dial to select your desired options. Maintenance Cleaning the Unit Ensure the unit is fully unplugged from the mains socket before cleaning. GB To clean the unit, wipe the case with a slightly moist, lint-free cloth. Hints and Tips If a problem does occur, it may often be due to something very minor. 12 Koble til stikkontakten NO Denne enheten er konstruert for bruk en vekselstrømforsyning eller med innebygd batteri. Strekk ut strømledningen i hele sin lengde. Sett enden av ledningen inn i DC IN 12V 1A -kontakten på baksiden av systemet og sett deretter strømadapteren inn i stikkontakten. Kontroller at strømadapteren er satt godt inn i stikkontakten. Den begynner å lade batteriet, og batteriet er nå klart til bruk. Lad det interne batteriet i 12 timer før første gangs bruk. Ikke overlad enheten. Enheten vil automatisk lade batteriet når den er koblet til stikkontakten, og den vil stoppe å lade automatisk når batteriet er fulladet. Når enheten er koblet til stikkontakten, vil hovedenheten bruke nettstrøm automatisk. 42
