The entrance exam is the basis of admission to the course. After completing the course, the students will: - have a relevant level of knowledge for higher studies in music - have in-depth instrumental/vocal/music-theoretical knowledge and skills - be able to perform music at a sophisticated artistic level - be familiar with various types of ensembles and ensemble leading - understand the historical, social, aesthetic and communicative dimensions of music Course contents Module I, 10 points This module includes the following: - solo vocal/instrumental musicianship - basic piano skills, playing chords and simple rhythmic patterns - music theory: general music theory, two-part arrangements, knowledge of instruments Module II, 10 points
This module covers the following: - solo instrumental/vocal musicianship - utility piano and keyboard skills: melodies and accompaniment - music theory: general music theory, functional analysis, scale step theory, ballad harmonising, three- and four-part arrangement with melody, form and structure - musicology: from 1750 to the present, 5 points See MUX9 - mental training, rhythmics Module III, 10 points: The module covers the following: - solo vocal/instrumental musical performance - utility piano and keyboard skills: further practice playing melody and chords in various genres - music theory: multi-part arrangement, form and structure - musicology: choice of one 5-point course* see MUX5, MUX2, MUX 3, MUX 6 Module IV, 10 points This module covers the following: - solo instrumental/vocal musicianship - utility piano and keyboard skills: further accompaniment studies, playing together in various genres - music theory multi-part arrangement for various ensembles - in groups, students plan and perform in concert as a final part of the course - documentation, CD recording of concert material in collaboration with the students of the Music Production Programme - written report of the process: from idea to concert, CD Teaching methods Assessment methods Type of grades The teaching methods include musical performance, individually or in groups; active participation in regional musical activities, as both a performer and a listener; theoretical studies, lectures, practical/instrumental/vocal applications, thematic and/or project studies, seminars, field studies. Each module is assessed through written, oral and practical presentation assignments, either individually or in groups. Students will be assessed during all practical exercises unless other arrangements are made with the examiner. Pass or Fail.
