1 Scientific CV and Publications list Name: Elin Slätmo Born: November 19, 1984 Place of birth: Örebro, Sweden Citizenship: Swedish Research interests My overall research interests are sustainable and long term use of resources. It includes developing overall understandings of how and why our world is constantly changing and how changes can be influenced through policy. I also have an interest in how individuals and the society value and use the physical environment, what type of knowledge that influences decisions about land use and which consequences the use has from a sustainability perspective. My ambition is to continue to develop a combination of critical and applied research. Current position Postdoctor, at the Unit for Rural Development, Department of Urban and Rural Development, Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences, Uppsala. Comment: My postdoctor project focuses on sustainability assessments of Nordic agriculture. Funded by: Future Agriculture, Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences. Comment: Researcher, primarily responsible for a knowledge compilation in the joint project Stationers roll för utveckling i mindre orter och dess omland. Participants: Official workers from the Region of Västra Götaland and the Region Halland, along with official workers from the Swedish municipalities Trollhättan, Lilla Edet, Stenungssund, Kungsbacka, Varberg och Hylte. The project was also a part of the platform Mistra urban futures. Funded by: Public Transportation Sectretariat (kollektivtrafiksekretariatet) in Västra Götalandsregionen & Swedish Agency for Economic and Regional Growth (Tillväxtverket). Comment: Research assistant, working with empirical field work (interviews), data analysis and report writing in two interdisciplinary projects: Land use changes in urban pressure areas - threats to food production and landscape qualities (with financial support from the research council of Norway ). Collaboration with researchers from Norway, Sweden, Austria and the Netherlands. Rethinking agricultural land abandonment to create socially responsive and biodiverse landscapes. (with financial support from The Swedish research council Formas ). Collaboration with researchers from Sweden, Portugal and Australia. Additional assignments and projects (selection of) Oct 2013 Dec 2013 Visiting PhD-student at The Australian Centre for Cultural Environmental Research (AUSCCER) at the University of Wollongong, Australia. Comment: The visit enabled me broaden my research network, to present findings from my PhD project in an international context and allowed me to collect ideas and inspiration from AUSCCERs focus on cultural environmental research (e.g. how we value, plan for and use physical resources). 1 month during autumn month fulltime work for The Royal Swedish Academy of Agriculture and Forestry (Kungliga Skogs- och Lantbruksakademien - KSLA). Comment: Working with two seminars and a report about sustainable agricultural land management in Sweden: Jorden vi ärvde. Den svenska åkermarken i ett hållbarhetsperspektiv I was engaged in starting up and running the youth organization PeaceWorks Fokus Miljö in Göteborg. PeaceWorks Sweden is a non-profit 3

4 peace organisation run by youth, for youth. Through different campaigns and projects the local group Fokus Miljö had focus on highlighting the relations between peace and environmental issues. For example Fokus Miljö conducted, in collaboration with LRF Ungdomen in Skaraborg, the project Agriculture and Environment - Farmers meet students in april The project gave possibilities for environmental students (and other interested) and young farmers to meet and discuss Swedish agriculture and global environmental issues. Teaching experience clock hours (162,5 lektorstimmar) Teaching experience from several courses on undergraduate level in Human Geography, Tourism Geography, Geography, Social- and environmental science programme (SMIL), Human ecology and the master programme in Innovation and Industrial Management (risk management) at University of Gothenburg. The teaching includes: Lecturing around foremost sustainability, landscape as a theorethical field, spatial planning in theory and practice and environmental problems and solutions. Examinations. Seminar leader for planning exercises («role play») and literature discussions. Preparing and carrying out excursions: in Northern part of Denmark - concerning geographical dilemmas in coastal areas (1 time), and in different parts of Göteborg- concerning urban agriculture (1 time) and sustainable cities (1 time).
