Introduction The European Standard for reinforcing steel - EN 10080 - was approved by CEN and published as an SS-EN Standard in May 2005. EN 10080 specifies general requirements and testing methods for reinforcing steel but should be complemented by product specifications. The European Commissions Standing Committee on Construction (SCC) did not approve EN 10080 so it is not a harmonized standard according to the Construction Products Regulation (CPR). This standard has been prepared because the Swedish Standards for weldable reinforcing steel needed to be revised and EN 10080 contains no technical classes. The requirements in the standard are consistent with the requirements for reinforcing steel in SS-EN 1992-1-1:2005 and the Swedish national choices. Revision of EN 10080:2005 has started within CEN. When the revised edition of EN 10080:2005 is approved SS 212540 may be withdrawn. 3

1 Scope This Swedish Standard specifies values not given in SS-EN 10080:2005 and shall be applied in association with SS-EN 10080:2005. The number of the clauses are the same as in SS-EN 10080:2005. When there are no choices or specifications made for a clause in SS-EN 10080:2005 the clause does not appear in SS 212540 and its table of contents. NOTE Tables in this standard have numbers S1, S2 etc. to separate them from the tables in SS-EN 10080. Annexes in SS 212540 have no connection to annexes in SS-EN 10080:2005. Annex C (informative) summarizes the properties of four technical classes with characteristic yield strength 500MPa and different ductility. 2 Normative references The following referenced documents are indispensable for the application of this document. For dated references, only the edition cited applies. For undated references, the latest edition of the referenced document (including any amendments) applies. Types of inspection documents NOTE When applying SS-EN 1992-1-1 the Swedish national choices made in BFS 2008:8-EKS or VVFS 2004:43 (including later changes to these documents) shall be applied. 3 Terms and definitions For the purposes of this standard the terms and definitions given in SS-EN 10080:2005 apply. 4 Symbols The symbols used in SS-EN 10080:2005 are used in this standard. 5 Designation The products covered by this standard shall be designated, in Swedish or English, according to SS-EN 10080:2005 and the following. The designation consists of three parts: a) Product form, surface geometry and the designation EN 10080, b) the nominal dimensions of the product, c) the designation of this standard, SS 212540, the characteristic yield strength and class of the steel according to Table S1 and as optional information, the delivery condition and if the products are decoiled/not decoiled can be part of the designation. EXAMPLE Ribbed bars SS-EN 10080 10 x12000 SS 212540 500B hot rolled and immediately heat treated in line. Normally the designer does not specify delivery condition or decoiled/not decoiled in the design documentation. EXAMPLE Ribbed bars SS-EN 10080 10 x 12000 SS 212540 500B. NOTE Abbreviation of the designation according to Annex B may be used. 4

7 Performance characteristics 7.2 Mechanical properties 7.2.3 Tensile properties This standard specifies the tensile properties R e, R m /R e, och A gt. These properties shall fulfil the requirements in Table S1. SS-EN 10080:2005 also applies. Class AB is a class adapted to Swedish practice. 7.2.4 Shear force of welded or clamped joints 7.2.4.1 Welded fabric The minimum value of the shear force for welded joints shall not be less than 0,25 R e A n where A n is the nominal cross-sectional area of either: a) the larger wire at the joint in a single wire welded fabric, b) one of the twin wires in a twin wire welded fabric (twin wires in one direction). 7.2.4.2 Lattice girders 7.2.4.2.1 Welded joints The minimum value of the shear force strength of a weld point shall not be less than 0,25 R e,ch A Ch 0,6 R e,di A Di whichever is the lower. or 7.2.5 Fatigue strength Axial force controlled fatigue testing shall be performed if the purchaser so specifies at the time of order. If submitted to fatigue testing the product shall withstand 2 10 6 stress cycles with stress that varies sinusoidally over the range of stress 2σ a from the maximum stress σ max. 2σ a and σ max shall be according to Table S2. However greater values for the range of stress or the number of stress cycles, may be declared if confirmed by testing according to SS-EN 10080:2005. 5

Alternatively, bond property requirements of ribbed and indented reinforcing steel may be determined by appropriate bond tests, see C.1.(1) in SS-EN 1992-1-1:2005. Testing and verification of surface geometry parameters shall be performed according to SS-EN 10080:2005. 6

There is no required f p - value. 8 Evaluation of conformity 8.1 Factory production control 8.1.1 General NOTE According to BFS 2008:8 EKS with amendments, products according to this standard are products with confirmed properties only when product certified. 8.1.3 Evaluation of test results 8.1.3.1 R e, A gt and R m /R e 8.1.3.1.1 C v specified as a lower limit At least one of the following conditions for R e, A gt and R m /R e shall be satisfied: a) All individual values are greater than specified C v for R e, R m /R e och A gt. b) given that at least 8 tests have been performed, mean and individual values for R e, R m /R e och A gt are according to Table S6. 7

The products shall be accompanied by documents according to Annex A. 10 Identification of the manufacturer and the technical class Delivered products shall be accompanied by a weather-resistant label containing the following information: number of this standard, name of the manufacturer or de-coiler, designation of the product and technical class, nominal dimensions and weight of the bundle, information giving traceability to production data name or mark of the product certification body and number of the product certificate. The label may also contain other information according to agreement between manufacturer and purchaser. 8

Annex A (normative) Delivery documents A.1 Inspection document Bars and coils shall be accompanied by an inspection certificate 3.1 according to SS-EN 10204. De-coiled bars, welded fabric and lattice girders are not accompanied by an inspection document unless otherwise agreed at the time of order. A.2 Delivery note Each delivered batch shall be accompanied by a delivery note containing the following information: consignee, manufacturer, designation of the product, delivered quantity, information giving traceability to production data date of delivery. 9
