Expected learning outcomes The student shall Have basic knowledge of Business intelligence and analysis Information sourcing and information systems Concepts and models in business administration, which are related to the creation and development of business processes Macro economic theories and conceptions Juridical implications and conditions for the establishment of business processes Be able to Design methods for mapping and analysis of business intelligence needs Manage mapping and analysis of business intelligence needs Design routines for business intelligence from an information system science perspective Survey and present information from an information system science perspective Identify, classify, and on a basic level, analyze juridical issues within company law, intangible rights, and financial law. Identify, problematize, plan and on a basic level manage business projects Understand Environmental factors influence on creation and establishment of business processes The importance of testing multiple perspectives while creating and establishing business processes Legal implications on creation and establishment of business processes within company law, intangible rights, and financial law The roles of information systems within companies business intelligence Course contents The course is divided in two modules: Module 1: Basic Intelligence Analysis, 13,5 Swedish credit points Within the framework of this module shall the students implement business intelligence, to the student s partner firm. Basic juridical issues in Association Law, Property Law and Rules of Law concerning with different forms financing are dealt with during the module. Macro theories in economics and some part of theories in competition are also dealt with. In the module issues about companies overall goals, visions and ideas, the firm s resources, the organisation and systematization of the firm, and the firm s/industry s market condition are treated out of a business administration and out of an information science perspective. 2 (7)
Module 2: To plan and execute a Business Project, 9 Swedish credit points Within the framework of this module, the students shall develop project plan. This with focus on development of the partner firm s business process. The student should individual or in groups work with the conditions of establishment and development. This out of the projects unique circumstances. The ideas and direction of the project should be treated out of an entrepreneurial perspective. The students should within this module comply the different analysis and the project s different parts to a close-fitted developing plan, which focus on suggestions on what action should be taken in the company. In common of the modules: During the course, the students will work in or in close relation to the partner firm. The students will during the course meet, use, discuss and treat concepts, tools and models from business administration, economics and information science. The juridical conditions and in establishment of business processes will be dealt with during the whole course. In the different modules, the students will participate in elements which have characteristics of Peer teaching where they train their abilities, together with students from the second year, among other things to present material and work with projects. Teaching methods Required reading The training is conducted in partnership with firms, which has been selected to participate in the education. the fundamental ambition is that the student should, through different sorts of assignments, demand and on by own hand seek needed knowledge. This learning process of the students is supported with a study handbook, lectures, after readings, seminars, reflections meetings, tutoring and use of literature. Participation in seminars is compulsory. Other elements can be compulsory, this is stipulated in the schedule of the course. Participation in exam seminars is always compulsory. See the end of the document. Textbooks and teaching aids, which are used during the course, can be divided in obligatory literature and reference literature. The majority of the textbooks and teaching aids will be used on several courses during the education. Notice! It is the latest edition for all literature! Assessment methods Examination is given through the project reports, oral reports, alternative examinations and different forms of applications. Type of grades The grades are Pass with Distinction (80% -%), Pass (60% -79%) or Failure (0% - 59%). Credit overlap Study certificate Other information EBD322 On request, a Swedish University course certificate will be awarded upon successful completion of the course. Students at Växjö University can, at request, receive their grades in ECTS credits, according to the ECTS-scale. This request should be made in connection to the introduction of the course, or at the latest, before the grading of the course.
