Types of towbars fixed, detach type 1 and ACS detach TYPE: 0 Fixed swan neck towbar The fixed towball is the most common towing bracket, the name swan neck comes from the design of the towball neck which resembles a swan neck. The towbar requires minimal maintenance and provides protection for the rear bumper. TYPE: 1 Horizontal detach towbar The horizontal detachable towball is a good compromise between the fixed and Vertical detach towball. It s design makes it easy to fit and remove. The towball is designed to fit directly into the fixed towbar bracket, in case one wishes to change type of towbar without having to remove the whole bracket. Detachable towbars are to be removed when not used for towing, a common result of not removing the towbar during longer periods of time is oxidation of the inner mechanical parts, which causes the towbar to stick to it s bracket. This is a direct result of mistreatment and is therefore not covered by the guarantee. The 5-year guarantee ensures the continuing functionality of the towbar during this time period. It is however required to have yearly checkups (free of charge at ATS reseller) in order for the guarantee to be valid. Each checkup must be documented below. 667-063x Fitting instructions 1. Remove the spare wheel. 2. Dismantle the plastic protection situated at the spare wheel hold. 3. Dismantle the bumper. 4. Remove the metalic support situated behind the bumper. It won t be used. (You can remove it without dismantleing the bumper. 5. Remove the metalic supports situated inside chassis sides. 6. Fix nuts M10 and M12 at points 1 and 2 using adhesive washers. 7. Introduce towbar pieces by inside chassis and fix at points 1 using M10x35 bolts and flat washers. 8. Fix points 2 using M12x40 bolts and flat washers. 9. Fit the polystyrene piece using adhesive, sealing or clamp at the upper face tube. 10. Place towbar between these pieces and fix at points 4 using M12x40, flat washers and spring washers. 11. Fix at points 3 using bolts M12x40, flat washers and M12 nuts. 12. Tighten all the bolts according to the recommended tightening torque. (Retighten all the bolts after the first 1000 km of towing) 13. Remount the plastic protection, the spare wheel and the bumper. Montera punkterna 2 med hjälp av skruvar M12x40 och planbrickor. 9 Montera polystyren stycket med hjälp av lim, tätning eller klämma på den övre ytan av röret. 10 Placera dragkrok mellan dessa bitar och fixa vid punkterna 4 använder M12x40, planbrickor och fjäderbrickor. 11. Placera vid punkterna 3 med bultar M12x40, platta brickor och M12 muttrar. 12 Dra åt alla bultar enligt rekommenderad åtdragningsmoment. (Dra åt alla skruvar efter de första 1000 km av bogsering) 13 Montera tillbaka plastskyddet, reservhjulet och stötfångaren.

All Alexo towbars are CE-branded and approved for usage within the European Union. The towbar should be installed in accordance with the installation instructions. Installation should be carried out by an experienced mechanic. All fitting is performed under own risk and manufacturer cannot be held responsible for any damage caused by fitting this towbar. Always observe national guidelines concerning official approval of extensions. Any alteration and/or conversion of the tow bar is prohibited and will result in the cancellation of the type approval. Remove insulating compound and/or underseal (if existing) from around the tow bar s mating surfaces on the vehicle. The tow bar is designed for towing trailers fitted with ball couplings and for use with load bearing implements approved for attachment to the tow bar. Any use other than the one specified is prohibited. If vehicles are fitted with a Parking Distance Control (PDC) system malfunctioning of the system can occur after tow bar installation since the parts (ball bar, ball coupling) could be located in the detection area of the sensors. In this case, the detection area should be readjusted or the PDC deactivated. Malfunctioning is not expected when using tow bars with detachable or pivoted ball bars if the ball bar is removed from its operating position. The towing hitch makes increased demands on the cooling system. Inquire at your contracted garage regarding any necessary reconstruction measures on the cooling system.
