2 FOREWORD This manual contains safety and operating instructions for your new Jacobsen mower. This manual should be stored with the equipment for reference during operation. The serial plate is located on the right rear frame rail. Jacobsen recommends you record these numbers below for easy reference. Before you operate your mower, you and each operator you employ should read the manual carefully in its entirety. By following the safety, operating, and maintenance instructions, you will prolong the life of your equipment and maintain its maximum efficiency. 3 SAFETY 1 1 SAFETY 1.1 OPERATING SAFETY WARNING EQUIPMENT OPERATED IMPROPERLY OR BY UNTRAINED PERSONNEL CAN BE DANGEROUS. Familiarize yourself with the location and proper use of all controls. Inexperienced operators should receive instruction from someone familiar with the equipment before being allowed to operate the machine. 1. Safety is dependent upon the awareness, concern, and prudence of those who operate or service the equipment. Never allow minors to operate any equipment. 2. It is your responsibility to read this manual and all publications associated with this equipment (Safety & Operation Manual, Engine Manual, and attachments/ accessories instruction sheets). If the operator cannot read English it is the owner s responsibility to explain the material contained in this manual to them. 3. Learn the proper use of the machine, the location and purpose of all the controls and gauges before you operate the equipment. Working with unfamiliar equipment can lead to accidents. 4. Never allow anyone to operate or service the machine or its attachments without proper training and instructions, or while under the influence of alcohol or drugs. 5. Wear all the necessary protective clothing and personal safety devices to protect your head, eyes, ears, hands, and feet. Operate the machine only in daylight or in good artificial light. 6. Evaluate the terrain to determine what accessories and attachments are needed to properly and safely perform the job. Only use accessories and attachments approved by Jacobsen. 7. Stay alert for holes in the terrain and other hidden hazards. 8. Inspect the area where the equipment will be used. Pick up all the debris you can find before operating. Beware of overhead obstructions (low tree limbs, electrical wires, etc.) and also underground obstacles (sprinklers, pipes, tree roots, etc.). Enter a new area cautiously. Stay alert for hidden hazards. 9. Never direct discharge of material toward bystanders, nor allow anyone near the machine while in operation. The owner/operator can prevent and is responsible for injuries inflicted to themselves, to bystanders, and damage to property. 10. Do not carry passengers. Keep bystanders and pets a safe distance away. 11. Never operate equipment that is not in perfect working order or is without decals, guards, shields, discharge deflectors, or other protective devices securely fastened in place. 12. Never disconnect or bypass any switch. 13. Do not change the engine governor setting or overspeed the engine. 14. Carbon monoxide in the exhaust fumes can be fatal when inhaled. Never operate the engine without proper ventilation or in an enclosed area. 15. Fuel is highly flammable, handle with care. 16. Keep the engine clean. Allow the engine to cool before storing and always remove the ignition key. 17. Disengage all drives and engage parking brake before starting the engine (motor). Start the engine only when sitting in operator s seat, never while standing beside the unit. 18. Equipment must comply with the latest federal, state, and local requirements when driven or transported on public roads. Watch out for traffic when crossing or operating on or near roads. 19. Local regulations may restrict the age of the operator. 20. Operate the machine up and down the face of slopes (vertically), not across the face (horizontally). 21. To prevent tipping or loss of control, do not start or stop suddenly on slopes. Reduce speed when making sharp turns. Use caution when changing directions. 22. Always use the seat belt when operating mowers equipped with a Roll Over Protective Structure (ROPS). Never use a seat belt when operating mowers without a ROPS. Accessory operator protective structures will continue to be offered for all equipment currently covered. This allows for the outfitting of any machines without previous ROPS installations or replacement of damaged structures. 23. Keep legs, arms, and body inside the seating compartment while the vehicle is in motion. 24. Disconnect batteries before performing any welding on this mower. This machine is to be operated and maintained as specified in this manual and is intended for the professional maintenance of specialized turf grasses. It is not intended for use on rough terrain or long grasses. en-3

Under no circumstances should this equipment be operated without these devices securely fastened in place. WARNING The Interlock System on this mower prevents the mower from starting unless the PTO switch is OFF and traction pedal is in Neutral. The system will stop the engine if the operator leaves the seat without traction pedal in Neutral or setting the PTO switch OFF. NEVER operate mower unless the Interlock System is working. WARNING 1. Before leaving the operator s position for any reason: a. Return traction pedal to Neutral. b. Disengage all drives. c. Lower all implements to the ground. d. Engage parking brake. e. Stop engine and remove the ignition key. 2. Keep hands, feet, and clothing away from moving parts. Wait for all movement to stop before you clean, adjust, or service the machine. 3. Keep the area of operation clear of all bystanders and pets. 4. Never carry passengers, unless a seat is provided for them. 5. Never operate mowing equipment without the discharge deflector securely fastened in place. By following all instructions in this manual, you will prolong the life of your machine and maintain its maximum efficiency. Adjustments and maintenance should always be performed by a qualified technician. If additional information or service is needed, contact your Authorized Jacobsen Dealer who is kept informed of the latest methods to service this equipment and can provide prompt and efficient service. en-4

5 CONTROLS 2 2 CONTROLS 2.1 PEDAL CONTROLS WARNING Never attempt to drive the mower unless you have read the Safety & Operation Manual and know how to operate all controls correctly. Familiarize yourself with the icons shown above and what they represent. Learn the location and purpose of all the controls and gauges before operating this mower. A. Traction Pedal Used to control forward and reverse movement of mower. Traction Pedal must be in Neutral without Neutral Latch (B) depressed to start the mower. Press front pedal (A 1 ) down for forward travel. Release pedal to slow mower and stop. Press rear pedal (A 2 ) down for reverse travel. Release pedal to slow mower and stop. Allow mower to come to a complete stop before reversing directions. Heel pad on rear pedal may be removed for operators needing more leg room. B A 1 B. Neutral Latch The Traction Pedal does not operate without depressing Neutral Latch. Press down on latch with your foot and move the Traction Pedal in the desired direction. Remove your foot from the pedal and the mower will stop and Neutral Latch will engage. C. Parking Brake To engage parking brake press down on pedal until it latches. Always engage parking brake before starting and after stopping machine. D. Parking Brake Release Releases the Parking Brake. E. Turn Assist Pedals (Option) Reduces the turning radius of the machine for operation in close areas. Use the turn assist pedals for making tight turns around trees and other objects. Turn assist pedals will replace the Parking Brake pedal. To use the Parking Brake, tie the pedals together by sliding the lock pin (E 3 ) above the pedals toward the rear and to the left. Press both pedals down at the same time to engage parking brake. To operate turn assist, move lock pin to the right and forward into the retaining notch (E 3 ), press desired pedal down gradually until desired turning radius is achieved - left pedal (E 1 ) for left turns, right pedal (E 2 ) for right turns. 6 2 CONTROLS 2.2 CONTROL LEVERS F. Lift Lever Used to operate the hydraulic lift cylinder. Pull the lever back and hold to raise the cutting unit. H Push the lever forward to lower the cutting unit. Hold the lever for 1 to 2 seconds after the cutting unit contacts the ground to fully extend the lift cylinder. This allows the deck to further lower and adjust to ground contours. G G. Throttle Lever Controls the engine speed. Push lever forward to increase engine speed, pull lever back for slower engine speeds. F H. Hourmeter Records total hours of engine operation. Figure 2D 2.3 CONTROL PANEL J. Ignition Switch Used to energize the mower and start the engine. Ignition switch has four positions, OFF, RUN, GLOW PLUG, and START. K. Power Take Off (PTO) Switch Used to engage and disengage the deck motor. Pull up red knob to engage deck motor, push down to disengage deck motor. R J P N M L. Horn Button (Option) Used to sound the horn. M. Engine Oil Pressure Light Light will illuminate if engine oil pressure drops below a safe operating level. N. Alternator Light Light will illuminate if engine alternator is not properly charging the system. K L Figure 2E P. Engine Temperature Gauge Indicates engine coolant temperature. Normal operating temperature should be between F ( C). If temperature rises above 230 (110 F), alarm will sound. See Section 2.4. R. Fuel Gauge Indicates current fuel level. Check fuel gauge daily before starting machine. en-6

7 CONTROLS OPERATOR ALERTS The electrical system monitors vital machine systems. It uses an audible alarm and warning lights to alert the operator of conditions requiring immediate action. When an alert occurs follow the general guidelines listed in the chart below, and any specific actions outlined by the grounds superintendent or service manager. This system monitors: 1. Engine oil pressure. 2. Engine coolant temperature. 3. Driving with brake on. Alert Action 1. Engine Oil Pressure - Oil pressure light comes on. Oil pressure low. 2. Engine Coolant Temperature Alarm sounds. Engine coolant temperature high. 3. Alternator Light - Warning light comes on. 4. Driving with brake on - Alarm sounds. Stop mower immediately, lower deck, and shut off engine Inspect oil level in engine. If oil light remains on with oil at proper level, shut off engine, and tow or trailer mower back to a service area. NEVER operate engine with oil light on, severe damage to the engine can occur. Stop mower immediately, lower deck and shut off engine Remove debris such as leaves and grass clippings that may be restricting air flow through rear screen on hood and area between radiator and oil cooler. If engine continues to run hot, return mower to a service area. CAUTION: Engine coolant is under pressure. Turn engine off and allow fluid to cool before checking fluid level or adding coolant to radiator. Return mower to a service area as soon as possible. Inspect battery and battery charging system. Disengage parking brake, or remove foot pressure from either pedal. Continued operation with both brake and traction pedal depressed may cause damage to the braking system. en-7

8 3 SET UP 3 SET UP 3.1 INITIAL INSPECTION The set-up and testing of the unit should always be performed by a trained technician familiar with the operation of this equipment. Read each instruction completely and make sure you understand it before proceeding with the assembly. Stay alert for potential hazards and obey all safety precautions. The RIGHT and LEFT, FRONT and REAR of the machine are referenced from the operator s seat, facing forward. Accessories not included with this product must be ordered separately. See instructions provided with accessory for installation and parts. 3.2 UNCRATE MOWER If the mower was shipped in a crate, follow the following instructions. If the mower was not shipped in a crate, proceed with Section 3.3 Mower Preparation. 1. Remove crate top and sides. Move tires, seat box and steering wheel away from mower. 2. Using a hoist capable of lifting the weight of the mower, raise the front end of the mower and assemble the front tires (A) and wheel bolts (B) to front axle hubs. Torque wheel bolts to 55 ft. lb. (75 Nm). CAUTION Do not attempt to drive the mower unless you are familiar with this type of equipment and know how to operate all controls correctly. 3. Place chocks in front of and behind front tires. Raise rear end of the mower and assemble rear tires (C) and lug nuts (D) to rear axle hubs. Torque lug nuts to 80 ft. lb. (108 Nm). 4. Assemble two plastic clamps (E) onto throttle cable. F J 5. Assemble seat to seat plate using four 5/16 flat washers, lockwashers and nuts (F). Throttle cable clamps should be secured using front seat hardware. 6. Route the seat switch harness (J) up through hole in seat plate and connect to seat switch. E F E F F 7. Assemble steering wheel (G) to the steering shaft by lining up hole in steering wheel with hole in shaft. Figure 3B 8. Insert roll pin (H) into steering wheel and shaft. 9 SET UP 3 9. Place supports under fuel tank and hydraulic tank. 10. Remove rear tank support hardware (ZA). 11. Assemble Roll Over Protective Structure (ROPS) (ZB) to mower using four 5/8-11 x 3-1/2 screws, flat washers, hardened washers and locknuts (ZC). ROPS should tilt towards rear of unit. Torque hardware to 151 ft. lb. (205 Nm) 12. Assemble seat belt (ZD) to ROPS using two 7/16-14 x 1-1/4 screws, lockwashers and nuts (ZE). Retracting half of seatbelt is assembled to right side of ROPS. Torque hardware to 50 ft. lb. (67.8 Nm). ZE ZD ZE ZB ZC ZE ZD ZE ZC ZC ZA ZA Figure 3D en-9

10 3 SET UP 3.3 MOWER PREPARATION WARNING Make sure the mower is parked on a solid and level surface. Never work on a mower that is supported only by the jack. Always use jack stands. CAUTION The initial inspection should be performed only when the engine is off and all fluids are cold. Lower decks to the ground, engage parking brake, stop engine, and remove ignition key. When installing the battery, always assemble the RED, positive (+) battery cable first, and the ground, BLACK, negative (-) cable last. Make sure battery is properly installed and secured to the battery tray. Tighten cables securely to battery terminals and apply a light coat of silicone dielectric grease to terminals and cable ends to prevent corrosion. Keep vent caps and terminal covers in place. 5. All fluids must be at the full level mark with engine cold Check: 1. Perform a visual inspection of the entire unit, look for signs of wear, loose hardware, and components that may have been damaged during transport. 2. Inspect paint and decals for damage or scratches. Decals provide important operating and safety information. Replace all missing or hard to read decals. 3. Check tires for proper inflation. Tires have been over inflated for transport. Turfcat Mower - 14 psi (1 BAR) 4. Check battery connections. Make absolutely certain the ignition switch is OFF and the key has been removed before servicing the battery. a. Radiator coolant level. b. Engine oil level. c. Hydraulic fluid level. 6. Make sure air filter connections are tight and cover is securely in place. 7. Check engine belt tension. 8. Check engine oil and add fuel to tank. Start engine. WARNING Never operate the engine without proper ventilation; exhaust fumes can be fatal when inhaled. NOTICE CAUTION Allow engine to operate at low idle for at least one minute before operating mower. Always use insulated tools, wear protective glasses or goggles and protective clothing when working with batteries. You must read and obey all battery manufacturer s instructions. Verify battery polarity before connecting or disconnecting the battery cables. When starting engine at temperatures below 40 F (4 C), operate the engine at low idle for five minutes to prevent damage to engine or hydraulic system. 9. Check for fuel or oil leaks. 10. Inspect lube points on mower for proper lubrication. 3.4 ATTACHMENTS The following instruction only apply to assembling the 60 in. (1524 mm) rear discharge deck, 63 in. (1600 mm) side discharge deck, 72 in. (1829 mm) rear discharge deck, and 72 in. (1829 mm) side discharge decks to the Turfcat mower. Refer to the manual included with any other Jacobsen approved attachments for proper assembly to the mower. en-10

11 SET UP PUSH ARM ASSEMBLY 1. Uncrate the deck. Locate the two push arms and push arm mounting hardware inside the box of parts. 2. Position push arms (K) in place in front of mower. Offset in push arms should be towards the outside of the mower. 3. Assemble push arm (K) to front axle of mower using one 5/8-18 x 3 hex head screw, lockwasher and nut (L) on each side. 4. Assemble two leveling spacers (M) above and below each push arm (K). Secure with M x 60 mm screw and nylock nut (N). N N M M L K L K L N M L N M Figure 3E 3.6 DECK HOSES 1. Remove plastic protective plugs from hoses and deck motor fittings. 2. Assemble 45 ends of hoses (O) to 90 fittings on deck motor. 3. Angle both hoses slightly upwards before tightening. Torque hose fittings to 50 ft.lb. (68 Nm) O O Figure 3F 3.7 DECK ASSEMBLY 1. Start the engine and fully lower lift chains (U). 2. Locate and secure deck motor drain hose under floorboard out of the way of the deck 3. Remove hardware (R) and push arm pins (P). Wipe up any excess marine grease from mounting brackets (S). 4. Lift push arms up and move deck into correct position. Lower push arms into place. Note: For easier assembly of push arms, loosen hardware securing mounting bracket (S) to deck. If loosened, tighten hardware after inserting pins (P). 5. Slide push arm pins (P) through brackets and push arms. Secure with hardware (R). R S P R K T T T U K R S P R 6. Remove chain hardware (T) from deck. Assemble bottom link of lift chains (U) to deck using hardware (T). Figure 3G en-11

12 3 SET UP 3.8 FRONT CASTER WHEELS Note: Front caster wheels have been assembled to the deck rotated 90 from correct position for shipping. 1. Start engine and lift deck off ground. 2. Remove front caster wheels from deck. Remove all four sets of hardware (Y), not just the single set holding caster in shipping position. 3. Remove retaining pin (V) and spacers (W and X) above the caster support. Remove caster wheel, yoke, and any remaining spacers (X) from bottom of support. 4. Refer to the height of cut decal. Place correct number of 1/2 in. (13 mm) (X) and 1/4 in. (6 mm) (W) spacers on yoke shaft. Slide yoke into support. Place any remaining spacers above support and insert retaining pin (V). 5. Use four 7/16-14 x 3/4 screws and lockwashers (Y) to assemble caster wheels to deck in correct position for desired height of cut. Refer to height of cut decal. Figure 3H 3.9 LEVEL DECK 1. Insert clevis pin (Z) through correct hole in rear brackets for desired height of cut. Secure with hair pin (AA). 2. Lower deck to the ground. Check to see if deck is level. 3. If deck is not level, remove clevis pin (Z) from low side. 4. Move one leveling spacer (M - Figure 3E) from bottom of push arm to top of push arm on low side. 5. Insert clevis pin and check if deck level again. Figure 3I 3.10 DECK VALVE HOSE 1. Remove plugs (AB) from deck valve. Deck valve is located under floorboard in cutout in front axle. 2. Connect hose (O 1 ) from right (Pressure) side of deck motor to M1 (Pressure) port of deck valve. Torque hose to 50 ft. lb. (68 Nm). 3. Connect hose (O 2 ) from left (Return) side of deck motor to M2 (Return) port of deck valve. Torque hose to 50 ft. lb. (68 Nm). 4. Remove plug (AD) and connect motor drain hose (AC) to 90 fitting on top of deck motor. Angle hose slightly to the right. Torque hose to 17 ft. lb. (23 Nm) 5. Tie wrap motor drain hose (AC) to deck pressure hose (O 1 ) in two locations. 6. Fully raise and lower the deck to be sure motor hoses do not rub on deck or mower. 13 SET UP FOOT GUARDS in. (1524 mm) Side Discharge Deck: Assemble right side foot guard (AE) to deck using two M x 30 mm screws and flat washers (AF), and two M x 25 mm screws, flat washers, and locknuts (AG) in. (1829 mm) Side Discharge Deck: Assemble right side foot guard (AE) to deck using two M x 30 mm screws and flat washers (AF). Assemble brush retainer (AH) and brush (AJ) to left side foot guard (AK) with two 1/4-20 x 1 screws, four flat washers, and two locknuts (AL). Assemble left side foot guard to deck using two M x 30 mm screws and flat washers (AF). 60 in. Decks AF AG AE AG 72 in. Decks AF AE AL AH AJ AL AF AF AK Figure 3K 3.12 WEIGHT TRANSFER SPRINGS 1. Assemble one 3/8-16 whizlock flange nut (AM) all the way to the end of the threads of the 3/8-16 x 1-1/2 screws (AN). 2. Hook spring (AP) on shank of screws (AN) between nut (AM) and screw head. 3. Insert screws through floor board. Secure with 3/8-16 whizlock nuts (AR). 4. Start the engine and fully raise the deck. Support the deck by hooking the deck latch (AS) to the floorboard. 5. Remove hardware (AT) from motor brackets. 6. Assemble springs (AP) to motor brackets as shown with hardware (AT). AT AM AN AP AR AS AT AM AN AP AT Figure 3L 3.13 DECK STOP 1. Assemble deck stop (AU) to right side of floorboard using 3/8-16 x 7/8 whizlock screws (AV) and whizlock nuts (AW). 2. Assemble stop bracket (AX) to deck stop (AU) using two 3/8-16 x 7/8 whizlock screws (AV) and whizlock nuts (AW). Do not tighten hardware. 3. Assemble bumper (AY) to stop brackets (AX) with one 5/16-18 whizlock nut (AZ). 4. Repeat for left side of floorboard. 5. Start engine and fully raise deck. Adjust position of both stop brackets (AX) so bumper (AY) deflects approximately 1/8 in. (3 mm) against deck belt cover. Tighten stop bracket hardware. AV AZ AX AY AV AU AW Figure 3M en-13

14 3 SET UP 3.14 OPERATING CHECKS After the initial inspection test the mower for proper operation. If mower is being fitted with an accessory you may want to assemble these and check operation of the mower with accessory attached. 1. Test the Interlock system. [Section 3.15]. 2. Start mower and check that switches, pedals, and controls operate as described. [Section 2.1] 3. Check that warning lights and alarm are working. 4. Check that brake pedal does not have more than one inch free travel before engaging. 5. Operate traction pedal and check that mower operates smoothly in both directions. Check that mower stops when traction pedal is released. 6. Check that mower does not creep with engine running and traction pedal in neutral. [Section 4.5] 7. Check that decks raise and lower correctly and that power take-off switch operates. Make sure blades turn off when decks are raised. 8. After operation, stop mower and inspect again for oil or hydraulic leaks INTERLOCK SYSTEM 1. The Interlock System prevents the engine from starting unless the parking brake is engaged, traction pedal is in Neutral, and the PTO switch is OFF. The system also stops the engine if the operator leaves the seat with the parking brake disengaged, PTO switch ON, or traction pedal out of Neutral. WARNING Never operate equipment with the Interlock System disconnected or malfunctioning. Do not disconnect or bypass any switch. 2. Perform each of the following tests to insure the Interlock system is functioning properly. Stop the test and have the system inspected and repaired if any of the tests fail as listed below: l the engine does not start in test 1; l the engine does start during tests 2, 3, or 4; l the engine continues to run during tests 5 or Refer to the chart below for each test and follow the check (4) marks across the chart. Shut engine off between each test. Test 1: Represents normal starting procedure. The operator is seated, parking brake is engaged, the operator s feet are off the pedals, and the PTO switch is OFF. The engine should start. Test 2: The engine must not start if the PTO switch is ON. Test 3: The engine must not start if the traction pedal is pressed. Test 4: The engine must not start if the parking brake is disengaged. Test 5: Start the engine in the normal manner then turn PTO switch ON and lift your weight off the seat. H Test 6: Start the engine in the normal manner then with parking brake engaged, slightly press the traction pedal. Lift your weight off the seat. 15 ADJUSTMENTS 4 4 ADJUSTMENTS 4.1 GENERAL WARNING To prevent injury, lower implements to the ground, disengage all drives, engage parking brake, stop engine, and remove key from ignition switch before making any adjustments or performing maintenance. Make sure the mower is parked on a solid and level surface. Never work on a mower that is supported only by the jack. Always use jack stands. If only the front or rear of the mower is raised, place chocks in front of and behind the wheels that are not raised. 1. Adjustments and maintenance should always be performed by a qualified technician. If proper adjustment cannot be made, contact an authorized Jacobsen Dealer. 2. Replace, do not adjust, worn or damaged components. 3. Long hair, jewelry, or loose fitting clothing may get tangled in moving parts. CAUTION Be careful to prevent entrapment of the hands and fingers between moving and fixed components of the machine. 4. Do not change governor settings or overspeed the engine. 4.2 PARKING BRAKE If optional turn assist brakes are installed, slide the lock pin toward the rear and to the left to lock the pedals together. B NOTE: The brakes installed on the mower are self adjusting and should not require adjustment under normal operating conditions. If linings or brake drums appear worn or damaged, have them replaced immediately by an experienced service technician. 1. For maximum braking power, a force of 135 lbs. (61 kg) is required to engage the parking brake. 2. Adjust brake rods on the right and left hand sides so they both begin brake engagement at the same time. If adjustment is needed, loosen the lock nut (A), remove the hairpin and clevis pin (B). 3. Rotate clevis (C) as required. 4. Tighten locknut (A). Assemble clevis pin (B) and hairpin. 5. 16 4 ADJUSTMENTS 4.3 ALTERNATOR BELT Depress the belt at the center between the crankshaft and alternator pulleys with a force of 11 lbs. (5 kg). The belt should deflect approximately 0.2 in. (5 mm). 1. Loosen the pivot bolt at the base of the alternator. 2. Loosen the top bolt (E) and rotate the alternator along the guide to increase or decrease the belt tension. E 3. While holding the alternator at this location, tighten bolt (E). 4. Tighten the pivot bolt. 5. Verify belt tension and repeat adjustment if required. Figure 4C 4.4 REAR WHEEL ADJUSTMENTS To adjust wheel toe-in: The rear wheels should be 1/8 in. (3.2 mm) closer together at the front than at the back of the wheels. K F G J 1. Loosen locknuts (F) at each ball joint near the rear wheels. H 2. Rotate tie rod (G) until the wheel is correctly positioned. 3. Tighten locknuts (F). To adjust steering shaft: Loosen nut (H) and rotate steering shaft in cylinder to provide full steering right and left. Side of arm (J) should contact pin (K). Check both sides. Figure 4D en-16

Remove ball joint (L) from bracket (M) and let it hang. 3. Start the engine and check if wheels turn. If wheels do not turn, proceed with step 4. If wheels do turn, adjust hydro: a. Loosen ball joint jam nut (N). b. Start the engine and adjust bolt (P) until the wheels stop turning. c. Lightly push and pull on bolt (P) to check for play in spring. Adjust locknut (R) if necessary, to remove play in spring. Repeat step b if required. d. Tighten jam nut (N). e. Stop the engine. 4. Verify the traction pedal is in neutral and neutral latch is up and prevents pedal movement. If required, loosen jam nut (S) and adjust ball joint (L) until hole in ball joint aligns with hole in bracket (M). Assemble ball joint to bracket. 5. Start engine and check for tire movement. If tires still turn repeat adjustment. 6. Tighten all nuts that were loosened for adjustment. P Figure 4F en-17

20 6 LUBRICATION CHART 6 LUBRICATION CHART 6.1 GENERAL WARNING Before you clean, adjust, or repair this equipment disengage all drives, lower implements to the ground, engage parking brake, stop engine, and remove key from ignition switch to prevent injuries. 1. Always clean the grease fitting before and after lubricating. 2. Lubricate with grease that meets or exceeds NLGI Grade 2 LB specifications. Apply grease with a manual grease gun and fill slowly until grease begins to seep out. Do not use compressed air guns. 3. Periodically apply a small amount of lithium based grease to the seat runners. 4. For smooth operation of all levers, pivot points and other friction points that are not shown on the lubrication chart apply several drops of SAE 30 oil every 40 hours or as required. 5. 27 REGLAGE 2 2 REGLAGE 2.1 PEDALKONTROLLER VARNING Försök aldrig att köra gräsklipparen om du inte har läst Säkerhets & Driftsmanualen och vet hur du ska manövrera alla reglage på rätt sätt. Lär dig vad ikonerna ovan betyder. Lär dig placeringen av och syftet med reglage och mätare innan du kör denna gräsklippare A. Växelpedal Används för att styra fram och backrörelse hos gräsklipparen. Växelpedalen måste vara i neutralläge utan neutrallägespärren (B) nedtryck för att starta gräsklipparen. Tryck frontpedalen (A 1 ) nedåt för gång framåt. Minska farten och stanna genom att släppa upp pedalen. Tryck bakre pedalen (A 2 ) nedåt för gång bakåt. Minska farten och stanna genom att släppa upp pedalen. Se till att gräsklipparen står helt stilla innan du börjar backa. Hälpedalen på bakre pedalen kan tas bort om operatören behöver bättre benutrymme. B. Neutralspärr Gaspedalen går inte att använda om inte neutrallägesspärren trycks ned. Tryck på spärren med din fot och flytta gaspedalen i önskad riktning. Ta bort foten från växelpedalen och gräsklipparen kommer att stannar helt och neutrallägesspärren går i ingrepp. C. Parkeringsbroms För att ansätta parkeringsbromsen tryck ned pedalen tills den går i ingrepp. Ansätt alltid parkeringsbromsen innan startar maskinen och efter att du har stannat den. Motorn startar inte med parkeringsbromsen ansatt. D. Frikoppling av parkeringsbroms Frigör parkeringsbromsen. E. Pedaler för svängningshjälp(extra) Minskar maskinens svängningsradie vid körning inom trånga områden. Använd svänghjälpspedalerna då du behöver göra snäva svängar runt träd och andra föremål. Svänghjälpspedalerna kommer att ersätta parkeringsbromspedalen. För att använda parkeringsbromsen, koppla ihop pedalerna genom att skjuta låspinnen (E 3 ) ovanför pedalerna bakåt och åt vänster. Tryck ned båda pedalerna samtidigt för att ansätta parkeringsbromsen. För att hantera hjälpanordning för att svänga, flytta låspinnen åt höger och framåt och in i skåran (E 3 ), tryck ned önskad pedal successivt tills önskad svängradie har uppnåtts - vänster pedal (E 1 ) för vänstersvängar, höger pedal (E 2 ) för högersvängar.
