Executive analysis, Gothenburg January February 2012. January was a hard beginning for Gothenburg in 2012. The city has one of the best percent in the Swedish market if we compare the same period of the last year (January), it increase 4.9%, Stockholm 1.3% and -10.2% in Malmö. We can find one of the reasons under the title of Utom-Europa that increase over 63% in January and 47% in February. USA start to recover the same proportion of guest nights volume since 2009 after the beginning of the financial crises, with 2 803 guest nights in January, but Russia and the Asian countries are still very passive supply markets. On the other hand Norway is still the best supplier of guest nights in Gothenburg. Norway represents the 17,36% of the guest nights out of Sweden in January and 15,20% in February. However the European market is still inside this upside down situation of the crises. That means at numbers of Germany and Great Britain are under the volume of guest nights of 2009. France maintains a constant develop in the west Swedish market with an increment of the 27% in the last 3 years in January and 53% in February. My conclusion in this executive analysis is that Gothenburg have a natural positive tendency in the business and free time tourism. However, we are not looking for the diversification of the market for example, villas/hostels decrease almost 19%. Camping continue develop new ways of travel experience for people over the 50 years old, it becomes an important market for the next years if we can observe the social demography situation of Norway and Germany.
