Page 3 Provläsningsexemplar / Preview Foreword The European Committee for Iron and Steel Standardization (ECISS) instructed the Technical Committee ECISS/TC 9 (Secretariat: Belgium) to draw up a European Standard defining the various types of inspection documents supplied to the purchaser for the delivery of iron and steel products. Publication of draft pren 10204 was decided at the meeting in December 1988. At its meeting on 21 May 1990, ECISS/TC 9, after considering the comments received on pren 10204 during its 6 month enquiry, decided to extend the scope of the European standard to cover all types of metallic materials. This European Standard EN 10204 was approved by CEN on 1991-08-21. The amendment to European Standard shall be given the status of a national standard, either by publication of an identical text or by endorsement, at the latest by December 1995, and conflicting national standards shall be withdrawn at the latest by December 1995. According to the Common CEN/CENELEC Rules, the following countries are bound to implement this European Standard: Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and United Kingdom.
Provläsningsexemplar / Preview Sida 3 Förord Den europeiska kommittén för standardisering av järn och stål (ECISS) uppdrog åt den tekniska kommittén ECISS/TC 9 (sekretariat: Belgien) att ta fram en europastandard som beskriver de olika typer av kontrollintyg som lämnas till en köpare vid leverans av järn- och stålprodukter. Vid sammanträdet i december 1988 beslöts att publicera pren 10204. Vid sammanträdet den 21 maj 1990 beslöt ECISS/TC 9, efter att ha tagit hänsyn till de vid 6-månadersenkäten erhållna kommentarerna, att utvidga omfattningen av europastandarden till att gälla för alla metalliska material. Europastandarden EN 10204 antogs av CEN 1991-08-21. Denna ändring till europastandarden skall ges status av nationell standard, antingen genom att publicera en identisk text eller genom ikraftsättning senast december 1995, och motstridande nationella standarder skall dras in senast december 1995. Enligt CEN/CENELECS allmänna regler är följande länder förpliktigade att ikraftsätta denna Europastandard: Belgien, Danmark, Finland, Frankrike, Grekland, Irland, Island, Italien, Luxemburg, Nederländerna, Norge, Portugal, Schweiz, Spanien, Storbritannien, Sverige, Tyskland och Österrike.
Page 4 Provläsningsexemplar / Preview 1 General 1.1 Scope 1.1.1 This European Standard defines the different types of inspection documents supplied to the purchaser, in accordance with the requirements of the order, for the delivery of metallic products whatever their method of production. 1.1.2 However, if agreed in the order, this standard may also apply to products other than metallic products. 1.1.3 This standard is to be used in conjunction with the standards which specify the technical delivery conditions of the products. 1.1.4 The contents of the inspection documents for the delivery of iron and steel products are defined in Euronorm 168. 1.2 Definitions The definitions of terms used are those given in the European Standard EN 10021. For convenience, they are also given below: 1.2.1 Non-specific inspection and testing Inspection and testing carried out by the manufacturer in accordance with his own procedures to assess whether products made by the same manufacturing process meet the requirements of the order. The products inspected and tested may not necessarily be the products actually supplied. 1.2.2 Specific inspection and testing Inspection and testing carried out, before delivery, according to the technical requirements of the order, on the products to be supplied or on test units of which the product supplied is part, in order to verify whether these products comply with the requirements of the order. 2 Inspection documents drawn up from inspection and tests carried out by personnel authorized by the manufacturer and who may be involved in the manufacturing department 2.1 Certificate of compliance with the order 2.1 Document in which the manufacturer certifies that the products supplied are in compliance with the requirements of the order, without mention of any test results. The certificate of compliance with the order 2.1 is a document drawn up on the basis of non-specific inspection and testing. 2.2 Test report 2.2 Document in which the manufacturer certifies that the products supplied are in compliance with the requirements of the order and in which he supplies test results based on non-specific inspection and testing.
