Bio-methane potential from gasification of wooden biomass or How to get a tree into a pipe? by Anders Hedenstedt CEO, Göteborg Energi AB

Biogas in Gothenburg perspective Fulfilling our vision: Göteborg Energi shall actively contribute to the development of a sustainable Göteborg

Gas for three different markets. CHP Industry Vehicles Gas based CHP replaces electricity produced in coal condense units Gas replaces oil Gas replaces gasoline and diesel

Green gas principle Huge synergy effects arise when distributing biogas in the natural gas grid. (Market, summer surplus, security of supply, step by step) Biogas Upgrading Industrial processes Heat Natural gas Biogas as fuel

GoBiGas Gothenburg Biomass Gasification Project

Purpose and objective The purpose of the project is to demonstrate the possibilities of the gasification technology on a commercial scale, and to build a gasification unit that produces renewable and CO2-neutral gas. The objective of this is to take a significant step towards Göteborg Energi AB s long-term target to replace the natural gas in our own plants and meet our customers demand for renewable gas.

Project - GoBiGas Thermo-gasification of biomass and production of bio-methane Commercial scale approximately100 MW gas Production of high-calorific gas by methanation for distribution on the gas grid Also possible use as a CHP-fuel in Rya First part is planned to be in operation by the end of 2011
