Västra Hamnen, området kring Turning Torso, fylls av glada avkopplade semesterfirare och turister. Folk träffas och tänker på annat än jobb och måsten. Man byter erfarenheter med varandra, träffar nya människor och njuter av att bara finnas till. Vi tar oss tid att se och höra på ett annat sätt än när vi har fullt upp med jobb och vardagen. Vi som är tillbaks eller snart är tillbaka på våra jobb och nya projekt är förhoppningsvis tillbaka fyllda med entusiasm och nya idéer. Vi är utvilade med nyladdade batterier och bara väntar på nya utmaningar. Vi i Data3 styrelsen hoppas att Ni känner Er som ovan och ser fram emot att få träffa er på höstkonferensen Hasselbacken på vackra Djurgården den 5-7 oktober. Senast vi hade konferensen i Stockholm kom det över 350 deltagare. I år har IBM utökat sitt engagemang bland annat genom att flera produktområden och leverantörer nu finns representerade. Här är några av de områden som täcker System i. RPG söndag - tisdag med Paul Tuohy (gå inte in bara för att lyssna lite grann för du blir kvar alla dagarna). ITSO söndag till tisdag, nu med DB2 och applikationsutveckling. 5 HÖSTKONFERRENS Talare Data3 höstkonferens 5 7 oktober 2008 Frank Soltis, om framtiden för System i System i Chief Scientist, IBM Rochester Dr. Frank Soltis is regarded throughout the world as one of the most significant computer scientists of the twentieth century. Based on his Ph.D. dissertation research, he created a revolutionary computer architecture, which led to a totally new breed of computers. During the last decade he led the effort to define the architecture of the 64-bit PowerPC processors used in the IBM iseries and pseries servers. As the IBM Chief Scientist for System i5 he continues to define future directions for IBM systems. Currently based at the IBM Development Laboratory in Rochester, Minnesota, he travels the world speaking on IT trends and technology advancements. In addition to his IBM responsibilities, he is an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Minnesota where he teaches graduate courses on high-performance computer design. Dr. Soltis is an award-winning author with several books, technical papers and other publications to his credit. He holds more than 25 patents and published invention disclosures related to computer systems. In his spare time he enjoys working on and racing Porsches with his sons. Johan Ekesiöö, IBMʼs VD Johan Ekesiöö rejoined IBM as General Manager, IBM Sweden in January Before returning Johan had is own consulting company, worked with the restructuring of Framfab and held the position as the Swedish Managing Director for antfactory a London based vc firm. Before leaving IBM in 2000 Johan held several executive and management positions in IBM Sweden and IBM Nordic, within Finance sector, ISTG and IGS. Johan did spend two years in Armonk in Corporate Marketing and the AS/400 divison. Johan holds a MBA from The Stockholm School of Economics and a Msc in Management from MIT s Sloan School. Johan is married to Louise and has three daughters. Outside work time is spent in the country house, golfing, skiing, school boards and movies and music.. Lars-Peter Loeld Lars-Peter Loeld är föreläsare, inspiratör, underhållare och moderator. Han är utbildad inom personal- och arbetslivsfrågor och har tidigare arbetat som lärare och utbildare, bland annat på UD. Lars-Peter arbetar med flera olika koncept, just nu handlar det mycket om följande två: Mindgames HumorWorks Lillemor Gillberg, IBM Lillemor behöver egentligen ingen presentation. Välkänd som IBM-representant. Välkänd som talare från många Data3 konferenser men hon började med System 3 för mer än 30 år sedan det var dåtidens System i. Lite långsammare, inte ett dugg interaktiva, dom gick på hålkort. 80 kolumner per kort. Första lektionerna från Lillemor kom redan då, gå över till 96 kolumner och spara plats. Så kom då de första disketterna, 20 cm breda och vägde 40 gram. Svalde nästan motsvarande en låda hålkort som vägde kilon. I denna miljö började Lillemors idoga arbete, från hålkort till dagens blixtsnabba i5 n. Vägen hit har varit System 32, System 34, System 36, System 38, IBM PC, AS/400 och nu i5 med alla dess funktioner. Passionen för alla dessa system till den nya i5 n håller i sig även om favoritområdena förändras. Ett tag var det Cisc till Risc, sedan Y2K, LPAR, Linux på i5 och nu hårdvaru HA. Thomas Nilsson, Certezza AB I sin roll som säkerhetsexpert är Thomas Nilsson en flitigt engagerad föreläsare och krönikör. Till vardags arbetar han som säkerhetsrådgivare på det oberoende informations- och ITsäkerhetsföretaget Certezza AB som han också var med och grundande 1996 och fortfarande är delägare i. Data3 5

6 HÖSTKONFERRENS Andreas Lundgren, IBM När Andreas Lundgren började på IBM var det som nästan direkt som säljare av AS/400. Då var 7xx serien och 170 nya för att inte prata om LPAR tekniken. Under de resterande åren har alltid IBM Systems varit arbetsområdet, med fokus på affärsnytta. Senaste året har Andreas arbetat mycket med GrönIT frågorna och är en av IBM Svenska talespersoner inom GrönIT. Andreas sitter också med i styrgruppen för IT branchens GrönIT projekt som drivs av IT&Telekomföretagen. Utanför IBM är det mycket tid med familjen som gäller och ibland någon golfrunda. Gottfried Schimunek, IBM Rochester Gottfried Schimunek is a Senior IT Architect with IBM and has been taking a lead role in application and product development projects for over 25 years. Currently he is the Program Manager and Technical Consultant for IBM i on IBM Power Systems in the ISV Business Strategy and Enablement team in Rochester, Minnesota. His primary interests are performance measurement analysis and capacity planning of applications. Aleksandr Nartovich, IBM ITSO Rochester Aleksandr Nartovich is a Senior I/T Specialist in the IBM ITSO in Rochester, Minnesota. Since joining the ITSO in January 2001, he has led projects for and authored more than 20 IBM Redbooks publications regarding WebSphere Application Server and IBM Rational development tools for the System i community. Aleksandr also develops and teaches IBM classes worldwide in these areas and is a frequent speaker at the System i technical conferences and forums. He is currently responsible for developing documentation for the IBM Exploratory Stream Processing Systems. Prior to joining the ITSO, Aleksandr worked as a developer in the IBM WebSphere Business Components (WSBC) organization and OS/400 development lab. He holds two degrees: one in computer science from the University of Missouri-Kansas City and one in electrical engineering from Minsk Radio Engineering Institute. Christer Ahlstedt, Sales & Marketing Manager, IBS Konsult AB Christer Ahlstedt, IBS Konsult AB has more than 30 years experience in software development and project management. The projects have been national as well as international. Since 1987 Christer has been working for IBS Konsult in different positions, but always with a focus on bespoke ( taylor made ) applications for the IBM midrange plattform. Over the past three years, IBS Konsult has successfully run modernisation projects, with the mission to stepwise modernise business critical legacy applications. Christer will talk about the experience of this work Paul Tuohy, ComCon Hernando Bedoya, IBM ITSO Rochester Hernando Bedoya is a Senior IT Specialist at the IBM ITSO in Rochester, MN. He writes extensively and teaches IBM classes worldwide in all areas of DB2 for i5/ OS. Before joining the ITSO more than 7 years ago, he worked in IBM Colombia as an AS/400 IT Specialist doing presales support for the Andean countries. He has 20 years experience in the computing field and has taught database classes in Colombian universities. He holds a masters degree in computer science from EAFIT, Colombia. His areas of expertise are database technology, application development, and data warehousing. Paul Tuohy has worked in the development of IBM Midrange applications since the 70s. He has been IT manager for Kodak Ireland Ltd. and Technical Director of Precision Software Ltd. He is currently CEO of ComCon, a midrange consultancy company based in Dublin, Ireland and one of the co-founders of System i Developer. He has been consulting, teaching and lecturing since the mid- 80s. Paul is the author of Re-engineering RPG Legacy Applications, The Programmers Guide to iseries Navigator and the self teach course iseries Navigator for Programmers. He writes regular articles for many publications and is one of the quoted industry experts in the IBM Redbook Who knew you could do that with RPG IV?. As well as speaking at RPG & DB2 Summit, Paul is also an award winning speaker who speaks regularly at US COMMON and other conferences throughout the world Data3 6

7 HÖSTKONFERRENS Larry Youngren After more than 30 years of experience leading the design efforts for System i database and journal support at IBM, Larry Youngren recently retired from IBM and now lectures, writes, and consults on high availability issues. He also coordinates the efforts of other recently retired system i professionals who help out at colleges, and at annual COMMON conferences as mentors. For 30 years, Larry served as a microcode designer for the lower layers of the i5/ OS operating system and frequently consulted with customers regarding High Availability and Journal performance issues. During his IBM career, he worked exclusively with the microcode, first for the S/ 38 and then for the System i. He led the teams responsible for Data Base, Commit, SMAPP, and Journal. His interests involve future performance and recovery improvements affecting journaling and IPL duration. He and the team he led have authored a popular IBM Redbook entitled Striving for Optimal Journal Performance, numerous magazine articles regarding both Ragged Save While Active and Remote Journaling, plus over a dozen journal related TECHNOTES which address popular journal questions. These TECHNOTES can be accessed from IBM s redbooks website. Mikael Haglund, IBM Craig Johnson, IBM Rochester Mikael Haglund, Country Techn Executive och Chief Technologist, IBM Svenska AB. Har arbetat med olika aspekter av IT infrastruktur under 20 år. Teknisk talesperson för IBM, med rätt att spana på och missionera om kommande trender. Craig is the Product Manager for IBM i and PowerVM virtualization technologies for the Power Systems platform. He is responsible for understanding the market requirements, driving product enhancements, and delivering new product offerings. Craig has lead the introduction of many technologies on the System i platform including Linux, AIX, and most recently PHP and MySQL. Prior to joining the product management team, Craig was team leader in the AS/400 Competitive Marketing department. Before moving to Rochester, Craig held numerous technical and management positions in the IBM sales organization. However, the most exciting feature is the Investigate Data task, which provides the ability to graphically view your i5/os performance data; Collection Services, Disk Watcher, and Job Watcher data can all be investigated through this interface. This session will cover the major features of the Investigate Data task. V6R1: Improve Your Job Performance Using Run-Wait Analysis This session will discuss run-wait analysis on i5/ OS. This technology accounts for the time that jobs spend waiting on the system and is an important mechanism for understanding the performance of those jobs. Gottfried Schimunek, IBM Rochester ITSO 11D PHP on System i Update PHP has become one of the most attractive Web enablement options on System i. With its active support from IBM and Zend, customers have an appealing Web environment for creating dynamic Web applications. The advantages of the PHP environment on System i are the ease of use, good performance, and vast amount of resources available for the PHP developers. In this presentation, we discuss the PHP runtime environment on System i: prerequisites, installation, jobs, security issues and other. In addition, we demonstrate the development tools and some of the programming aspects of the language. Alexandr Nartovich, IBM ITSO Rochester 12D Implementing MySQL on i5/os MySQL is the leading open-source database on the market. It has been announced to run on i5/os. In this presentation we will explain how to install, configure, tailor and manage MySQL on i5/os. We will also cover what are the futures plans of the product on i5/os. Hernando Bedoya, IBM ITSO Rochester RPG Workshop 11E RPG Meets the Web! The web can seem like a scary place to the traditional RPG programmer. But it is actually easier to write RPG programs for a web interface then it is for traditional green screen. What is the fastest way to get your System i applications talking to the web? You don t need Java, ASPs, JSPs, Websphere or.net because you already have everything you need in RPG IV, the System i HTTP Server and CGI- DEV2 - a free tool (service program) from IBM to enable RPG programs to interact easily with a browser. In this workshop you will see how to: Understand and write basic HTML Understand how a browser communicates with a program through the HTTP server powered by Apache (including basic configuration). Understand the basic principle of the CGI APIs (and why it is better not to use them directly) Use the CGIDEV2 APIs. Code RPG programs to write data to and read data from a web page using CGIDEV2 and externally defined HTML. Write the equivalent of print programs, subfile programs, maintenance programs. What is all the fuss about? What relevance does AJAX have for the RPG programmer? AJAX provides a means of having a web page communicate with a server, either synchronously or asynchronously. Combined with CGI programming techniques (CGIDEV2 is used in the presentation), you now have a means of dealing interactively with a web page i.e. changing the contents of a web page without having to re-write the whole page. And best of all, it is already installed on every PC, all you have to do is use it!. The company web site is designed for and is served from a System i. An application is used to manage conference information which, in turn, is used to generate web pages. There are also interactive web pages that communicate directly with RPG programs (e.g. selecting

17 KRÖNIKA Thomas Nilsson är nätsäkerhetsspecialist och grundare av det oberoende IT-säkerhetsföretag Certezza AB Du når honom på Avlyssnad? Sällan har ett lagförslag väckt så mycket debatt som den omtalade FRA-lagen, som den kallas i folkmun. Visserligen vaknade media ovanligt sent, men det sena uppvaknade hade förmodligen den effekten att reaktionen blev enorm. Arbetet med lagen om lagring av trafikuppgifter har gått betydligt snabbare, det har haft visst mediafokus, men ingen reaktion att tala om. De båda lagförslagen har sina likheter men också sina olikheter. Det ena lagförslaget är tänkt att verka inhemskt och det andra tänkt att vara en form av gränskontroll, hur man nu kan använda dessa terminologier i ett internetperspektiv. Det ena förslaget är innehållssökande och det andra fokuserat på lagring av själva kuvertet. Ett gemensamt mål är en intensifierad jakt på terrorister. En jakt som verkar kunna motivera vilka medel som helst, det verkar få kosta hur mycket som helst och det verkar aldrig ställas några krav huruvida de metoder och tekniker som är tänkta för ändamålet verkligen ger det utlovade resultatet. Det är ytterst tveksamt om de miljarder som satsas verkligen gör oss mindre sårbara för den uppmålade hotbilden. Gemene mans hotbild är snarare att risken för avlyssning ökar. Tro inte att risken hittills varit försumbar. Den finns där och den har alltid funnits där, mer eller mindre. Avlyssningen har inte alltid stöd i lagen, men det innebär inte att den inte förekommer. Det går inte likt en struts tro att man kan utbyta känslig information i klartext över ett publikt media och tro att man inte löper någon som helst risk. Det är naivt så det föreslår. Använd detta uppvaknande till att på allvar skydda den information som är skyddsvärd. Begrepp som autentisering och kryptering är inte några utopier. Se det i stället som de naturliga inslag som de faktiskt är i informationssäkerhetsarbetet. Rätt hanterad så kommer den information som du inte vill skall hamna i orätta händer att fortsatt förbli i rätta händer. Oavsett om avlyssning har stöd i lagen eller ej. Den dagen lagstiftaren vill begränsa användningen av kryptering, begränsa nyckellängder eller kanske kräva nyckeldeponering på grund av att avlyssningen visat sig totalt verkningslös då är det dags att på allvar reagera Thomas Nilsson, Certezza AB Data3 17
